Today we take a look around HMP Featherstone, New Rd, Featherstone, Wolverhampton WV10 7PU.
We are joined by ‪@BareBritainAudits‬ on this one, as we walk around all the publicly accessible areas of this Her Majesty's Prison Service run establishment.
We see many interesting things and speak to many people, including a prisoner serving the last 4 months of his sentence (face blurred).
We get told we can't film, get threatened with a spade, and eventually 2 Police Units arrive.
Enjoy!
Thanks to @Carl & Alison Positive Audio Liverpool who donated the drone music for this video. To listen to the Music & Drone Footage only, see this Playlist - • DJ Audits / D.a.v.i.d....

Why oh why is it so often the case that with police officers fail to adopt a civilised, courteous approach to members of the public when no offers of aggression are directed at them. This officer has adopted an appropriate and civilised approach. This style of policing maintains public confidence and respect. It also leave the Officer with flexibility in his interaction in dealing with the situation. A commendable officer!

This episode is one of the best, with its Dickensian cast of characters: the gentle prisoner, the rude gardener threatening with a shovel, a group of intelligent and well-mannered police officers, and the main character whose adventures lead to confrontations from which he escapes with the adroit use of superior legal, linguistic and social skills. Totally normal for British police. Being British, and working in the airline industry I’ve lived in Australia,France, the US and travelled and spent time in a great deal of countries, and I can tell you we have far the least aggressive/intrusive police going. Although it has become popular through this kind of guy to try and make out we live in some sort of police state...which frankly,is laughable.

@Tom Foster . I think that is my point. It appears today that too many of the everyday PCs are not of the calibre we the public deserve. We are at danger from their often under mature personality types. They are often a danger to the public even without a gun. We want a unarmed police force, but staff by officers that could be trusted with guns. Then we would sll be safer.

It's crazy, two units coming to tell you it's ok to film in public, if you get your property broke in or damaged they come when they are available or not at all! The understaffed police force.

Great look around! 👌 our prison systems (some are privately run) the prisoners work in the kitchen, cleaning, laundry, mail room, library, even work release. They have a bus that takes them to certain places to work at factories! North Carolina USA 🌻 💜 🌻

Yep, this is a fantastic video, Dj + friend. Those officers were fantastic. Listening to you, seeing it from your point of view and very informative. Learned some new things that I wasn't aware of. And again, I love that the video was longer than usual. It's like sitting to my dinner watching something. Thanks all in the video (minus angry spade guy)♠😂👮🚓

Respect for giving the chap space once you were informed he didnt work there. I'm so happy that the guy at the end came out and explained it and that he was down to earth as he wanted the chap too have no issues with his release. Even though it's not me I felt bad when you heard him say he shouldn't be speaking, you felt it in his voice that he might have just messed up his time.

I don't what you are wanting to achieve? Outside of a non interesting building that frankly could be anywhere in the country. Your "not normal behaviour" of filming uninteresting buildings once again leads to staff noting your "not normal behaviour" ( which is to say that they won't see this type of behaviour alot). Because you then continue with this behaviour it leads to once again wasting police time and money. I just don't get it?

The point that the Police have nothing better to do is worrying. Police making contact with law abiding citizens, is not the fault of the law abiding citizen.

The 'works dept' used to deal with the upkeep of the prison, and it is usually run from a building located just outside. Amey is one of several companies that have now taken over since privatisation. The van that you saw near the end might have been for the HMP Tornado team (Kind of like the SAS for when there are riots etc. inside a prison). I have worked as a contractor in prisons for 15 years. Interestingly, I had a dash cam and took my vehicle inside on many occasions. It was only removed when I mentioned to my boss that I could get a prison sentance for doing this. Most prisons have the tall chimneys, which is often a good way of finding them when lost.

You're up there with the best auditors DJ, your knowledge, temperament, politeness, and general communication is spot on. You remind me of a dorky pal I know from Melton with your accent and mannerisms😄. On a side note - the gent with a shovel has the potential of commiting a s.39 Assault, by making you apprehend violence (by bringing the shovel into your direction with aggressive intent). However, he could argue that there was a lack of intent, given that there was a possible barrier (if used horizontally) and he was merely intending to strike the fence for non aggressive purposes. If he was versed in the law he could avoid prosecution though🤓.

@@zigzagtoes ohh I never knew, I meant the famous Melton Mowbray btw. And an argument/disagreement is nearly always lost when it is accompanied with aggression or violence I think. When I first started watching auditors I was more interested in the rude sorts as it was entertaining at first but it quickly became boring and cringe to watch. DJ AUDITS and Focus Pocus are the best for me, when they are confronted by rude people they both maintain their dignity and composure, using humour, evidence and intelligence to make their points, in doing so, they often make them look like right plonkers🤣.

@@zigzagtoes I fully understand what you mean. It has taken every sinew of my being to go against my natural responses when faced with my triggers (provocation, invaded personal space) but it took all of my formative years(30 now) of learning the hard way - despite having the moral high ground more often than not, I would always feel embarrassed and in the wrong after I had lost composure and would end up having to apologise myself. If I was an auditor, I would employ the preemptive strike if anyone entered my personal space in a threatening manner 😁. You have a legal right to make a preemptive strike in self defence if threatened, and that is subjective to the ones own circumstances. You would gain alot of subscribers too😎. My interest in audits depends on similar criteria to my interest in comedians. I am not impressed in comedians that use profanity and shock value for entertainment, it's a poor tactic I feel. Its better to blend it with intellect and tact.

I've got to be honest, when I seen that this one was almost an Hour long I thought OMG and I thought I would only last 10 mins before I got bored with it, but no, I stuck it out until the end and found it a really fascinating one, Cheers DJ ;-) Respect to that Prisoner for being cordial towards you guys and I wish him well when he's released, BTW he's doing a cracking job of the grounds maintenance and he should be commended for that, good luck sir for the future :-) That's a new role G4S have taken on then because they're no longer Security but now they're maintenance, maybe they need to change their logo to G4M Lol. I've got to give credit where credit is due. PC 24055 was VERY Professional in his approach even though he had received false information about you guys, plus I've got to say you're probably in more safer hands with a Firearms officer than any other type of officer because of the stringent training they receive i.e. Observe, Assess, Engage (if needed) comes to to mind ;-) p.s. The "blood splat" as people have called it is nothing more than a Red Dot i.e.What one would see when looking through a Scope onto a target..
