Great sharing, another one of my banjo students has become a customer of yours, and I'm glad. You did a wonderful job of teaching how Crowe delayed the introduction of full chords (something from the Red Slipper Lounge days). Also a great and simple demonstration and explanation of the subtle blues pull off (and hammer on) sound Crowe used with that bent 3rd string. My Mom used to say, "c'mon son, play it like JD, get the notes that are in the cracks", meaning the notes that don't exist on a piano, the ones that would be in the cracks between the keys, those bent 3rd string notes! Thanks once again for your generosity Brother!!

My Grandma had a farm near Lexington and the Holiday Inn. Wish I’d known about Bluegrass and the banjo then! I was still playing Beatles on an SG Standard at that time. Thanks for the great lesson Eli.

Great lesson! I love JD's style. That looks like such a clean and nice room you're in, just happened to notice😂

I think it's very important for a lesson to clear out the things that are difficult to understand and you did that for me in this video. It helped me more than the videos you usually do where it shows the tab and you play it slow. This video really helped me. Thank you!

Ok quick Question Eli. I have noticed in some earlier videos you planted with your ring finger. And in some of your more recent videos you are planting with your pinky and letting that ring finger run free. Have you changed that at some point or Did i just miss seeing it earlier? Sorry for the dumb question, But i recently had a light bulb moment watching a Steve Martin video and im trying to make sense of it in my mind.

Compliments on the depth and detail in this breakdown of this slice of Croweness. Great insights. Great shirt. When is that one going up with the rest of your banjo merch?

Thanks! It was actually a gift from a friend, not my design and to my knowledge not currently available for sale. Sorry!

That's a great sounding banjo. Now quit trying to look cool and put the truss rod cover on. Such a silly trend...

@@EliGilbertBanjo You are telling the truth there! LOL It's like buying a $300 pair of shoes and walking around with your untied laces dragging the floor. C'mon do the right thing . If you aren't careful, you'll end up making banjo videos in your underwear. It's just too much trouble to put them on, only to take them off before bed, you'll reason. The banjo really does sound great!

@Jason K and here I was thinking I had to make all my own decisions for the rest of my life! I wouldn't worry too much about it man, I just adjust it frequently depending on the weather/location. Now if the truss rod had any effect on tone...you'd better believe I'd have the best one!
