We must learn, as Paul did, to be content. Being discontent is a sin and is believing the lie that God made a mistake in our life. But if we get to the root of our discontentment, we have to admit that it's our refusal to submit to God's will. Have you surrendered your will and learned to be content?

Contentment for a born-again believer comes when he/she learns to be content with Jesus Christ. If I need anything more than my Savior to give me contentment then I need to check if I'm actually saved. Because with true redemption and experience if true salvation comes the revelation of the cost paid @ Calvary. Once someone truly understands this cost then contentment sets in and drives the person to love this source of contentment. Christ is all and in all!

The disciples never lacked anything when Jesus was with them. All our "needs" should be provided for in Christ. We must seek first his kingdom and his righteousness then our needs will be added to us as well. We must pursue Christ.

Kenneth Davis not knocking what you are saying brother Kenneth but I would just like to add Acts 3:34 in there. *All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.*

I just kind of tripped over contentment one day. Like...there's nothing I really want or need right now. Everything I need or even really want I can get. Such is the way the Gift was given to me.

Is having the ability to get what you want, contentment? I wonder if it is more than that: wanting something you perhaps cannot have, and then being happy with not having it.

In the book of Job, three fools condemned, presumed, and laid more burdens on a wounded man. They did so with a zeal for God, but without knowledge. (Shooting the wounded isn't just a modern tactic of convenience) One man was wounded and wasn't initially submitting fully to God's purification. In his pain, a pain multiplied by the three heartless fools, he despaired and sinned. Still another was more observant and knew God. He called out the warrantless condemnation by the three fools yet rebuked and also encouraged Job to trust in God's goodness and his greater plan than we see. After the LORD had spoken these words to Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite: “My anger burns against you and against your two friends, for you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has. Job 42:7 (Contemporary folly: you ain't Job, buddy) May God silence the self serving platitudes of foolish lips and help us submit to and trust him fully. He leads us in paths of righteousness for his name's sake, not for self congratulatory showboats seeking man's exultation.

Save your time. He said discontentness is sin. Pray his will be done, accept what God makes of your life. No complaints.
