When booting the machine, try pressing "e" while you are in the bootloader and highlight your Ubuntu system. You can then temporarily edit the boot parameters. At the end of the line, add "video=DP-1:1920x510@60" and press Ctrl+X to start the system. If that doesn't work, retry the same procedure but with "video=HDMI-A-1:1920x510@60" instead. Good luck!
@mark7824 Жыл бұрын
Oh I forgot to mention, if it works you can make it permanent by adding the same parameter (e.g. "video=HDMI-A-1:1920x510@60" ) to the file /boot/grub/grub.cfg at the end of the line that starts with "linux /boot/vmlinuz"

This is ALMOST exactly what I was looking for. My plan was to find someone with a 3d printer capable of taking a special order, print out an enclosure that fit my specific keyboard, a Raspberry Pi 4, and the very panel you seem to have here. This is 95% what I was looking for, amazingly! The only thing off is the keyboard. I have a rather particular keyboard in mind, the ShurikeyGear Saizo 75% keyboard. It's really a work of art, and looks almost exactly like the one you have, just a bit bigger. I'm thinking that your design would only have to be scaled horizontally a little bit and the tolerances checked. Edit: I just checked what Shapeways might charge to have this printed out. It might actually be cheaper to just buy a 3d Printer!

Everything on Linux is a one-liner when you understand it well enough. The issue is when nobody seems to understand it well enough to write that one-liner. The answer, basically, is probably to use something other than a bog-standard Ubuntu installation, like Mint or KDE Neon or Manjaro in Xorg, and use a more well-known one-liner xrandr scaling command from there.

Screens can be connected via a magnetic connector like a modular, but they often require a strong magnet or a self-locking connector on lightweight devices. Why isn't there a tool which just parses terminal commands into prompt windows with lists and tickboxes before you click send working backwards procedurally from manpages? It could even list the command as its generated as you alter the input. It solves the command discoverability problem (query vs search) and it means people can onboard the terminal faster by using this as a learning tool to see how commands get constructed. It could even be a damn terminal program in and of itself, sort of like a terminal co-pilot.

I have no problem with Linux, but it was never intended to replace windows. It is way better today than it was 10 or 15 years ago. Back then it was difficult to just get WiFi to work.. One thing to remember though is to check the hardware compatibility before you buy said hardware. That is a really strange display though and I am not even sure windows would support that resolution. If you are looking for a operating system that works with most hardware then buy a Windows PC or a Mac, they have much better support. If you are just using compatible hardware and open source software Linux works well. One thing I don't like about Linux is Wine which is used to run windows programs; some work, some don't. In my experience most don't which is really frustrating.
