Amazing video with 3 dynaplugged in one tire... Thanks for sharing Ian. I never had to use my dynaplug and so far trusted my neighbor telling me that dynaplug really works... Now your video is proving it.

Those dynaplugs are the best. I have one on each of my bikes, just because forgetting it is not worth the risk! Glad you enjoyed! Subscribe if you enjoy reviews like this! I’ll be making more soon! Safe riding!

Thanks Ian, that is good to know. A lot of sealants seem to be really good … until you actually need them. Especially for gravel or road use when the pressure is a bit higher. Glad you did this video, would be great to see someone do a larger comparison of what is compatible with what. The manufacturers all say “don’t do it”.. of course. Your video was good user experience for dynaplug also. Cheers

What I’m noticing is that you can mix sealants that both use synthetic latex and same for natural latex but mixing a sealant with natural and one with synthetic is when the addition of ammonia (in the natural latex sealant) interferes with the coagulation properties of the synthetic latex sealant. Hope this helps and I made sense of it lol safe riding!

Thanks for posting Ian. My experience GP5000 STR: Silca is much stronger than Stan’s in terms of sealing up the holes and maintaining the sealing on higher PSI. However Silca is definitely high maintenance. I had a puncture yesterday and I think I’m going to just top up with Stan’s without unmounting the tire and wiping out the remaining Silca since your experience clearly shows that it should work! Thanks!

Topping off is way easier with the Stan’s fluid. Are you using dynaplugs for plugs? If not those plugs work way better than anything I’ve ever tried(and I’ve tried them all lol)

Once mixed orange with stans by accident as the client said it was stans and than after adding sealant turned out to be orange. Told him to report when issues appeared but he never mentioned anything so I assume it worked fine. Would love to know more about mixing though. Probably depends on the ingredients

I recently added some Stan’s to my orange seal and I didn’t get a huge color change from what I noticed on the last puncture but the last puncture sealed well so it leads me to believe those two can be mixed. I think the biggest problem with mixing is if the sealant you’re adding has a lot ammonia in it.

Glad you liked the video Mike! I’ll be mixing this orange seal with Stan’s sealant on the next video. Which sealants do you prefer to use?

can you mix bontreager and muc-off in a video? or any knowledge about it, I had to do it today.
@ian_pedalz
@ian_pedalz Жыл бұрын
@@Rich-jj3ee you can the only thing I’ve noticed when mixing them is that when using c02 the mixture turns into a gel like substance and has a hard time finding punctures. So as long as you don’t use c02 you should be okay. The one thing I’m finding is that ammonia free sealants and sealants with ammonia do not like to be mixed.

@@ian_pedalz got it and thanks! it seems like they are both ammonia free and latex based from what i can see

@@Rich-jj3ee it’s interesting because muc off claims you can use c02 but I notice it dries much faster after using c02 . I’m more of a frame pump guy myself but just something to keep in mind! Safe riding!

You can make and add your own carbon threads to any sealant. Collect hair shavings or chop up pet hair that's floating around to around 2 cm long. Free and works great. It clogs your plumbing - it'll help clog a tire puncture.

Hair shavings actually sounds brilliant. I have a blue heeler who’s hair is sharper than anything, would probably work better than have those gimmicky additions. Although if they didn’t make such a mess, glitter works perfectly!

@@ian_pedalz yeah, it sounds gross but I swear it works. “Carbon threads as fine as a hair”. Ok, just use hair then? I’ve got two shorthair dogs and tons of the stuff just floating around. 2 pinches of it mixed in can’t hurt.

Wish I had watched this before I switched to Silca sealant! I noticed when I poured it in that the carbon fibers seemed to all clump together. Now I see that they are probably all near my bead seals, without many left to actually fill punctures. I already had it take a long time to seal a small thorn hole. 😡
@ian_pedalz
@ian_pedalz Жыл бұрын
It would be nice if the carbon fiber pieces could be added dry, to help save the mess and allow the sealant to be injected. Conceptually it seems like it would work well but as it stands , it’s messy and performs poorly.

@@ian_pedalz You never want to deal with bare carbon fibers in your life, trust me ☹️. You need full body protection including a respirator to do so. They can embed in your skin, go into your throat, and cause a lot of irritation. I plan to just add more of the carbon foam sealant instead of the replenisher to get more fibers in my tires.

I was wondering if Dynaplugs are working with other sealants than Stan’s and obviously, it does. Good to know. Thank you.

The dynaplug even sealed a tire with no sealant, took a few times around for the plug to seat nicely but it’s definitely the best plug I’ve used! Glad you enjoyed the video! Safe riding and subscribe if you like this kind of content!😊

I’ve been saying this now for about a year. Silca sealant dries fast and leaves you without protection. Tiny puncture after tiny puncture and Silca just weren’t seal it. Now, I don’t feel as alone in my thinking.

As soon as you get home from a ride where you had a puncture you should let out all the CO2 air and fill your tire with a regular bike pump. Then your sealant should survive.

I’ve had good luck doing this with Stan’s and orange seal but the Silca turns into a gel like substance and doesn’t seem like it has the viscosity to find a puncture anymore. What type of sealant do you prefer using? Always looking for recommendations!

How do you rate the Orange Seal endurance a year on?
@ian_pedalz
@ian_pedalz 6 ай бұрын
@@blondebier still my favorite sealant. The only thing I’ve done differently is added old dried up sealant (kind of chopped up into small pieces) to the tire when I replace it or replenish the sealant. It works really well to clog bigger punctures and it doesn’t cost me anything extra and it doesn’t make a mess which is nice. I’m going to be trying black ox sealant and Milkit next. I’m hearing amazing things about those two brands. Safe riding!
