I've often thought about getting a set of try-out keys but to be honest if I had I would have been trying to use them like a key. Thanks for showing the correct method of using them, now I'll know how to use them when I do eventually get around to getting a set. Cheers.

There's actually an even more advanced technique which I'm saving for a later video, where you combine keys, so you lift some levers, change a key and lift some others. But it's new to me, so I didn't want to demonstrate it on this video until I was sure how it works. But yes, most people - me included a while back - assumed these would be like key - but when you think about it, it makes no sense.

These and padlocks are a good place to start, loads of decent vids on brummie's channel. Curtained locks start getting a bit much for me, but might make a video, git a decent curtain pick laying around gathering dust!

Hello John. They do exist, but there's like 80 keys in a set, usually cost around 150 quid, and don't work on all brands! I think you hot the law of diminishing returns once you go more than three, they're less try-out keys and more 'hopefully one of this huge pile of keys matches this exceptionally worn old 5 lever lock, key. You could be there for hours and still not get a result. Personally - and I'm up for being proved wrong - I think five lever try-out keys are kind of based on the success of three lever keys, when in truth it's too much of an ask.

I think it's probably quicker to pick 3 levers than to go through all those, 5 lever try out keys would be better especially of you Have one of those packs what just doesn't like to bind 🤣😂🤪

Perhaps - but rarely do you go through all 15 - I didn't once, more than one of the set seems to work on each lock I have, so you find them pretty quickly, and you get a feel for what ones stand a chance. Each to their own though. Nice one for watching.

Do you plan on getting any nice laser cut 2 lever tryout keys? I have a set that are stamped out & you can easily see they are stamped, some are slightly curved in the bitting & a few need to be filed .

Here's the thing - they stocked stamped 2 and 3 lever try-out keys, both stamped, and although there were complaints about the finish and all manner of problems, the 2 lever ones just didn't sell - I mean they're so easy to pick - I guess that's why. You'll see a lot of vendors putting the 2 lever sets with the 3 lever sets just to make it look like you're getting more but in fact they're next to useless. Short answer - no, lol.

@@LockPickingLegend Here’s the video kzbin.info/www/bejne/eILbiYZtfZ6Ie80 I didn’t notice before but having watched it again he is actually using 2 lever tryout keys on a 3 lever lock & he is mistakenly calling them 3 lever tryout keys, also when he opened the 5 lever lock with the 3 lever tryout keys he is mistakenly calling them 5 lever tryout keys. Ps, You can get another 4 3 lever tryout keys to make the set into a 19 piece set, apparently they are useful for some union locks.
