In this video, I made a menu, recorded around 100 sound effects, created a save file system, added controller support, designed a boss fight, and set up a steam page for my dream game -- a pixel art metroidvania made in Construct 3. It's called Koko, the Last Leaf.
I did a crazy amount of work to get all this done. If you could wishlist Koko, the Last Leaf on steam it would mean the world to me.

Looking great! I've been having to deal with saving a lot as well recently. Fun way I found is to set anything you want saved into a dictionary object and then you can save it to Local Storage as JSON. On the next start up you can load everything back into the dictionary with load from JSON. Really saved me a lot of time.

Absulotly everyone needs an Adam! For my Universal TT Wargame/RPG I had 1 adam and had a ton of old TTRPG hands to work with on ideas. And I have making a ton of progress crafting a Beta which I am going for one of those polished AAA types not just a verticval slice as all I need now is more conetnt is a few places, playtesting and polish as that is what I need for people to play test. The game was already a vertical slice in the Pre-alpha and Alpha.... Still sounds like you got to a major milestonme for your game dev congrates!

It's not Cdash from hollow knight. It looks much more viable for combat, has a shorter charge time, and can be used in midair. So the only similarity they share is zoom fast in one direction with no time limit. I'mma go play the demo. This all looks great. Keep up the good work!

Dead cells recommends playing with controller and hollow knight I think does too, as do most 2d platformers. Very important step with controller support and I've already wishlisted!

I've been following this series since log three, and as someone aspiring to make a metroidvania myself these have really inspired me! My only question is how you start getting ideas for everything you add? Like character design, names, etc

Thanks! I just experiment a lot and reiterate. Your first idea is sometimes your best but usually not. Just try some stuff and eventually you just have to roll with something even if it’s not your favorite. But some things will be easier than others

you need to make the game more distinct. like what would make me want to explore this than Hollow Knight or Ori? so far with the abundance of similarities (im guessing you got a whole lot of inspiration from these games), your game feels more like a tribute than a stand alone game. "the last leaf" is also quite reminiscent of Ori. but anyw, yeah this game looks sweet and imma wishlist it

cool game but the swing feels delayed and the hitbox is way too small in my opinion, and the gate opening cutscenes are way too long and annoying. One final remark: the dash/roll buttons on the controller should be on both sides, and depending on which trigger you press down, it goes that direction. Besides those game is cool.
