Really doubt they ever remake/remaster this game, the engine at that time was a mess and it's famously known to have spaghetti code behind it. Rockstar also reportedly cancelled GTA IV and RDR remasters a couple years ago after the GTA Trilogy fiasco.

I played the game from beggining to the end back in 2021 on Xenia Canary. Never had a PS3 or a 360 so it was my first time playing. Had a few glitches with the vegetation but nothing that bothered me, and i loved the game. Tested a month ago on updated Xenia Canary and is even better, running smoother, no vegetation glitches and FSR. Maybe i'll play again cause this game is amazing even after so many years.

I highly recommend using xenia canary, locking fps to 60 (using nvidia control panel settings) and using 16x anisotropic filtering and Higher quality post processing patches. Depending on your gpu you may choose 1080p (720p upscaled with FSR 1) or 1440p. Update: the switch version on Ryujinx is the unofficial definitive PC version. Final Update: the game is finally on PC and the port seams excellent. Perhaps the only downside is 50$ at launch for a 14 year old game.

Driver enforced AF is ass because it clamps the negative LOD bias. Negative Lod bias is essential to making your game not look like an oil painting.

I think the sharper shadows are because the resolution is higher. When you go higher than the base resolution, like 2x or 3x, the shadows change and becore much sharper than normal

Just 100% this game on Xenia Canary running 60fps patch on 720p with FSR and FXAA enabled powered by an RTX 2060 6gb. Had a smooth experience with only minor frame drops on certain areas and only crashed twice through my entire playthrough.

@@pretzels7437 yo we got the same cpu. After some troubleshooting it’s absolutely playable. Constant 60 fps except for certain towns at 720p. You can even play 1080p at 52 fps, which I’m doing now.

For those who want to play Red Dead Redemption on a 1920x1080p monitor but can't play at high fps on draw_resolution_scale_2, try applying the 540 patch and upscaling the draw_resolution_scale_1 to draw_resolution_scale_2. I got a lot of extra fps from this, and the game looks great.

this is awesome to hear. as a kid, i had a ps3 and a couple of games on it. lego harry potter and red dead redemption were my favorite. but i specifically loved red dead redemption. to this day, one of my favorite games of all time. picked up a goty version for my xbox 360 a few years back to replay it, was just as good. im gonna try this now just because i no longer have either console.

I play this on the latest xenia canary version, I have not experienced any glitches or crashes. plays just like the original but with 1440p. It looks great I get 50 to 60 fps wich is much better than on a actual xbox 360 or ps3. 4k fps drops below 30 Cpu: i3 10100 Gpu: radeon 5700xt 16gb 3000mhz ddr4

Did you change any config settings, I play with an i5 10400 and an RX 6700xt and it runs great but I get a "graphics device lost" error every hour or so which then crashes the game.

I haven't played RDR1 on RPCS3 in a month or two but on my 2060 12GB and 3700X with the recommended enhancements suggested by the PS3 emulation wiki + forums I was able to get a pretty stable 50fps and stable gameplay in general. I experienced more crashes on real hardware back in 2011 than I did in emulation on RPCS3

I always wanted a ps3 when i was a kid but we couldn't afford one (we didnt even have a tv) Now after ive grown up i saved money and bought myself a strong pc and played all the ps3 classics i missed out on, Red Dead and Undead Nightmares play excellent on rpcs3 1080, 60fps no problems finished em to the end. Great game and even tho i already knew it from walkthroughs it was still great to play myself.

Played in xenia canary to the end 3-4 months ago and when I finished it I started again because I love that game! Played on my Xbox 360 back in 2010 as soon as it came out! and what a pleasure to discover it in 2k sharper and smoother than the original! Just little to no issues with audio sync in 2 cutscenes and some random chashes with February and March releases (seems to be fixed with new builds now)

I played through all of Red Dead Redemption on Xenia almost a year ago, so you can definitely do it now. I never ran into any game-breaking glitches. There definitely were some visual glitches, but it was perfectly playable.

I got it running successfully on i5 12600k (5ghz all core) and 3080ti. 21:9 on a 3440x1440 screen (560p renderig, 3x upscaling) Framerate does not drop below 50 fps. With 16x ao and some heavy reshade it looks pretty good. I am going to hold back a playthrough, because there might be an official remaster or remake.. I wait 2-3 months or so. It must be very good if it is true, even if it would be just a remaster! This game aged pretty well.

I got a Ryujinx Switch Emu version of this game and have barely played it cause it's a pain to translate letters into figures fir yet another console. But so far it runs smoothly at the 30FPS default and looks pretty good. Just saying it might be worth a look into if you haven't.

A quick guide - If you have a low to lower mid range CPU but a mid to mid higher range GPU, go for Xenia. I've completed this game on Xenia with i5 4590, 8gb DDR3 1600 Mhz ram and an rtx 3070. It runs very smooth at a playable fps.

This game still not having a PC port is not necessarily due to the milking of GTA Online as most people say, its that the code of this game is an absolute mess and it would be a pain to port it over. Best solution is emulating tbh. Besides, the guy that voiced Uncle in this one is a ghost and disappeared taking the source code all for himself, giving it LUMBAGO, and wiping all traces of him existing off the earth aside from that one pic of "supposedly" himself from a Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

the best option is to force Rockstar to release a remake of this gem on the rdr2 engine. Most of the assets are already done. What it needs to be done to rerecord some audio and maybe add a thing or two.

Unless the bug is triggered only at specific times of day, the indoor sun flare doesn't seem to be a thing anymore in latest Xenia Canary versions (tested on canary_experimental from March 26, 2024) and thus the patch disabling them is not needed. In fact, it's better to not enable this patch anymore, because at least for me, it makes lights flicker a lot.
