You Can't Buy Accuracy... Sometimes the Trigger Nut is Loose... Stolen Valor...

A case of stolen valor turns into a great lesson on accuracy.
We live in a golden age of manufacturing. Products that were once available to a select few, are now affordable to the average Joe.
With this comes all the consequences of the lack of discipline in attainment. For example:
Kenny Roberts started his racing career on a POS Tohatsu long before Yamaha entrusted him with a cutting edge Moto GP bike.
Now, anyone can buy a Yamaha R1, which puts Robert's 1978 Yamaha 500cc MotoGP bike to shame. No skills or understanding of motorcycles is required. You can even purchase one with no money down!
Now you have cars with collision avoidance, traction control, auto clutches, and auto pilot... the list goes on. You can buy performance and manufacturers make the cars smart because the drivers are worse than ever!
Many gun buyers go into a firearm purchase with the same mentality. The more money the spend, the more idiot proof the firearm will be.
Unfortunately, even the best built gun is worthless in unskilled hands.
I became addicted to long range shooting for the same reason I became addicted to motorcycles, airplanes, and fly fishing. There is always something to learn and I will never master all the skills involved.
Like many disciplines, time and practice are the only way to become proficient. You can't buy experience!
So join me as I go down the rabbit hole with a "gun that don't shoot". Is it the rifle? Or is it the trigger nut?
Or is the trigger nut a lying sack of $&%# acting out a truly bizarre case of stolen valor and impersonation of a Federal Officer?

Stumbled onto this video and glad I did. Great information and like you said getting behind the trigger. My eight year old grandson tears it up with a lead sled. He's small yet. Group beside us were so impressed they were asking me questions. I just said talk to the kid . He's the one shooting. Point being they shoot that way for a reason. Find out why.

Jason, I build custom rifles too, and the same thing happened to me when some guy asked me to build him a rifle to make him a better Hunter I asked him to go to the range with me and shoot my personal rifle that I built on a Savage action. I set it up and told him where to hold for each distance had a vortex diamondback bdc scope on it and he hit the 200 yd target but missed the 300,400 and 500 targets. Then I took the rifle with the same ammo and rang every gong. I couldn't believe it. Finally I worked with him on his breathing and trigger technique and it turns out he's recoil shy and was flinching with every shot. Once I corrected that problem he started hitting gongs. I'm also an NRA shooting instructor and former Army Sniper. So sometimes it takes more work than just building a rifle, sometimes you need to build a customer.

We bend over backwards to help customers become better shooters as well. I'm glad there are trained instructors like yourself who work with shooters on a regular basis. If only more shooters would humble themselves and train more! This particular customer definitely had a nut loose and is now in a very bad place. Homeland Security doesn't like it when you impersonate an officer :-)

My stock Tikka CTR threaded 20" barrel in .308 shoots 3/4" 3 shot groups at 200 yds consistently with my reloads through Lee dies. And I'm a 64 yr old amateur. Hornady 168 gr and Varget. I do use their steel recoil lug.... That's it for mods. I love Tikka's and Sako's. Finns build some good rifles

I'm just waiting for the weather to break so I can finish up filming. The GGS is a great stock and I have an idea for the second part of my review to show how versatile it is.

Hahaha, this reminds me of when I played hockey and this was especially true in adult beer league guys who have never played before would automatically buy top of the line gear. Of course, there was resentment on our parts because we got our gear over time and as we got better so there was a feeling that those guys didn't "earn" that gear. Of course, they did with their jobs and paying for it but you get what I mean. These guys are called "benders" because they skate with bent ankles, it's a way to say that you suck. I will admit that better equipment would accelerate your learning curve but you still had to put in the work.....

I have always been surprised that "runout" isn't talking about much in handloading. I think it effect accuracy more than 5g powder difference.

It is surprising. I remember watching the G David Tubb reloading videos and was floored when he used a powder measure to throw charges instead of a scale. It wasn't until I realized that each variable in a load has a degree of effect and charge consistency doesn't mean squat if your bullets are way off axis or releasing inconsistently. I see people going ape over scales being accurate to > .1 gr and not even discuss concentricity, bullet release etc. I think someone like Bryan Litz doing a scientific comparison of reloading factors would be hard to beat.

wow that's extremely ballsy to shoot some other loaders ammo no way would I have trusted that guy's reloads especially if he can't shoot... nice shooting though
@mountaintacticalcompany

Anu Mann Thanks! 260 is one of the few calibers I'd do this with simply because it's so hard to make a dangerous load. Also note the empty case when I was discussing concentricity. I pulled a bullet to make sure he used H4350 like he said he did before pulling the trigger.

This seems to be a rookie business mistake. Please take my advise and NEVER in a public forum chastise a customer because it will never increases your customer base . Actual it hurts you in the long run, making customers like me wonder if i had genuine complaint would you also chastise me in the manner. At the minimum it was entertaining In two months re-watch this video

Bullseye Shooting This is definitely not a rookie mistake. When it comes to someone breaking the law and impersonating a federal officer, the gloves come off... This guy will be in prison in the near future. I sat on this footage for months and consulted our legal and the investigators prior to publishing this video. This guy will roast in infamy.

I know it must be hurtful when some questions your craftsmanship, however this video creates no value to your new and old customers. I am not questioning that you shouldn't taken off your gloves but to what cost, losing new potential customer, spending time to speaking to federal officers, making this video. Every company has fraud, however do you see the head Ruger , S&W , Glock, Midway etc making videos calling out a customer. Dont think small think BIG and let the law take care of its self and RUN your business.

I'll take a company that holds people accountable over one that just goes with the flow to save face any day of the week. This video gives a lot of input on some important "need to know" for someone wanting to buy a high end rifle that is honest with themselves. The other side of this is to call out people as much as we can for everyone's sake and maybe keep people from doing these kinds of things in the first place.

If a guy wants to run around knowing one truth and claiming another, let him live his self-delusion. He can't steal anything from me. He'll never step up to the line and put others or himself at risk. So all it amounts to is words propelled by hot air. If I'm going to have my mood altered by that, then I'm completely lost whenever the tRump spews his hot air. Half the country doesn't seem to care that he is a fraud, what's the difference? You called him out anonymously for all of us to wade through. What did that accomplish? You saw the other critics posted below, right? Did you express your disdain to his face? At the point where I stopped watching it appeared that you still accepted his money. So what did he steal from you? The guy is all hat and I suspect more people know that than not, and each night he goes to bed knowing he is a fraud. He's created his own hell. Peace

A lot of bad info too. He's not very knowledgeable. Subtle misinformation about "accuracy", where he should be saying precision, being "out of concentricity", where he should be talking TIR, and also claiming customer has "bad die set", when the die is likely not adjusted properly. Even less expensive die sets will produce straight ammo, but he suggests buying expensive dies. He's misleading some of you guys that don't know.
