Same. And I was laughed at for buying an RTX 2070 last year when 30-series was around the corner. I opted for the 2070 because I KNEW there'd be a cluster of a release at least at the beginning of launch. Who has the last laugh now?

I feel so lucky for getting a 2060 super. At the time I was a bit disappointed in myself for not just waiting for 3000 series, but I haven't found any decent available GPUs from AMD or Nvidia. The 2060 Super has 8gb of vram, and can run some games in RTX. At the end of the day I'm just happy I have a modern PC that can play any game coming out.

It depends, somewhat. I've got a laptop with the Iris Pro 580 and a desktop with the 4750G. The 4750G definitely performs better, generally 50-100% better in games, but I'm pretty certain the Iris Pro performance is hampered by having "only" a laptop cooling system.

I see people in comments on these kinds of videos saying "i'm still using a gateway/emachines with a pentium 4" and I just can't fathom it, they make it sound like the internet, video games, etc, are super important to them, but they don't upgrade their computer for some reason? If they are a kid or on a fixed income of some kind(like disability) i would still wager they have ways to make extra cash and blow money on useless stuff all the time, and you can buy a used pc and upgrade it with used parts for a couple hundred bucks or so, so i really can't understand or accept the excuse making.

Keep the 750 Ti even after you get a new GPU. It's got a compact design, requires no external power, has great thermals, driver support for every OS from XP up, and has native analog output support. There is no other GPU like it that you can buy. There is the 1050 Ti which is indeed much more powerful and has more VRAM but it doesn't support anything below Windows 7 and doesn't support analog outputs natively.

I remember getting a 2400g and being psyched I could sort of game with a pc bc I was console before that. Then added a rx 580 8g and used the 2400g as my cpu while the 580 held strong as my gpu. The 2400g at the time was actually a very good cpu. Glad I grabbed a 5700xt sapphire pulse and a r5 3600 before all of this shortage crap started happening. But I still only play high refresh 1080p. I can play at 1440p at decent frames with this setup though. I grabbed some 3600mhz Trident Z RAM on sale that same day. It made a huge difference from the mismatching Chinese 2666mhz ram I was using lol. But that APU was a game changer for me. It still isnt a bad little iGPU. tl/dr the 2400g iGPU was a great starter gaming rig for me with enough (mismatching lol) ram, even though it was crap ram and 12 gb of it.

I liked how you actually acknowledged the 750ti after so many years, I understand why since I would also consider it the minimum for PC Gaming. I feel like you should have used a non reference GTX 750ti, mainly for slightly better cooling and higher core clock. I have two of them, an EVGA FTW and the dual fan ASUS model. I mainly use the ASUS one in a Retro Gaming Windows XP machine because of it's VGA output which I use with a CRT. I haven't used the EVGA FTW 750ti in forever, I only ever use it when I'm bored and wanna see how in performs in a new game. The GTX 750ti is kind of iconic and game changing to me, like the Radeon 9700 Pro or Nvidia 8800 GTX. Cards that people would consider a staple in PC Gaming evolution. The 750ti may have been a budget gaming card when it came out and it wasn't beefy like the 9700 Pro of 8800 GTX, but it was a card I saw a lot of people flock to when it came to the "PC Master Race" movement when most people were moving away from Xbox 360 and PS3. Instead of going for a Xbox One or PS4, how about the PC? The price, performance and, power efficiency made it real appealing to a lot of new comers, if they were wanting to build a budget PC or upgrade and existing one. When it first came out in 2013, it ran a lot of big games very well while looking and running better than the consoles. The gap narrowed as the years went by but still it did a respectable job. It now struggles in some games within recent years (hell it doesn't even start Death Stranding or Assassin's Creed Valhalla) , but you do have to keep your expectations in check and remind yourself it's a 2013 budget card. I really feel like this card made a huge impact for how it made Console Gamer's turn their heads and see that it was affordable and showed the many benefits of PC gaming at the time. It's a card I will always have respect for.

Got one of these a while back. Can't remember when, it was early on in the life of these things. A10 7800 Series. I ran that thing for years. It was incredible. Kept me gaming on scraps when I had very little. It finally gave out in 2019 and I had some money at that point so I upgraded to a new system with dedicated GPU. However, if you are low on funds, an APU can be great. You won't ever play on the highest settings, but I ran many great games for years on one. I was playing Subnautica on it in 2019 when it finally gave out. And I could have taken way better care of it. Linus mentions resale value, but you could honestly just throw a little media machine/console emulator together with it when you do upgrade. I planned on making one of these myself, but honestly thought they had scrapped the whole idea of APU's due to lack of options when I looked last. Hopefully they do expand on them more, they are great value options.

Most people misunderstand where AMD APU's are in performance. Yes its integrated graphics but its not compute-limited integrated graphics like the others. It is bandwidth-limited integrated graphics. The only setting you cant jack up is the resolution(s) of render targets. You can have all the lighting, and all the traditional AA methods, and even texturing up to 2gb or 4gb (whatever your APU's shared memory limit is) with minimal performance impact. Screen resolution and the resolution of things like shadow buffers are what AMD APU's are most sensitive to, by far. If you can deal with 720P then a 3400G will play anything on the market at reasonable framerates without otherwise gimping the render settings. I mean, 60FPS Red Dead Redemption 2 @ 720P with high settings elsewhere... yeah? Thats where AMD APU's are. They arent for competitive gaming, but they provide a very good experience none-the-less.

@@styleisaweapon i use an A10-7800 and it runs csgo at around 65-75 fps on most maps during gameplay, 85 in some situations, at 720p. yes, csgo at less than 100 fps, i know, but you get an idea about how these things are considering this is a 7 year old low budget APU. as long as you dont plan on playing COD Warzone at +120fps on max everything you can get by with these things.

@@tomasmonzon207 On a 3400G (and single channel memory), CSGO at 1080P is always 100+ for me. Most DX9 games (and dont let valve kid you, CSGO is really DX9) play great even at 1080P on a recent AMD APU. This goes back to what the GPU bottleneck was back in the DX9 days and it was a pure compute bottleneck, which AMD APU's simply do not have.

APUs are great for beginners and for ITX builds. I built my little brother a 2400g system with a picoPSU that's the size of a book for $400. I keep offering to help him upgrade it but aside from adding storage and RAM he's never wanted to trade the form factor for a dGPU. I think full-size towers are what cause a lot of people to shy away from the hobby

@@kakarroto007 I am well aware of Emby and it's FOSS fork Jellyfin. Unfortunately Jellyfin is lacking in quality and quantity in terms of clients. Additionally I am a part of several Plex Shares and I believe Plex is the only software that allows great functionality across multiple servers such as global search and homepage and it's currently the only software people offer free shares for. I am rooting for Jellyfin to become viable for me and am ready to jump ship, but I don't see this happening very soon.

3 months ago, I have build 4750G pro and Mobo in video with ArcticFreezerII 360 AIO, 2*8GB 3200 CL14 and samsung 980 ssd(SSD came as later upgrade). It runs everything from 1080p (tested: AC:Valhalla, Jedi Fallen Order, Battlefront II,Dragon Age: Inquisition, Mass Effect LE, DayZ, Warframe) to 720p (Cyberpunk 2077, A Plague Tale: Innocence,BDO,Shadow of Tomb raider with better score then in LTT benchmark,Deus EX Mankind divided) APU made me recognize value in resolution scaling, makes it easier to set performance vs eyecandy settings and choose one. You can play on this if you can get one.

3400G Owner here. The Vega 11 was fine for games like Valorant and League of Legends (It was even better once I added a 2nd 8GB stick of ram. With only 1 stick I only had 6gb of system ram due to the APU taking up 2gb of the 8gb for itself all the time). I eventually needed to add a 1650 Super to play all the other stuff the APU couldn't handle but it got me going. Now I run with the Vega 11 disabled in device manager and the 1650 super as the main display out over display port. G-sync is sooooooooo nice. Final upgrade will be a 3060ti down the road once I can get one for around msrp.
