Nice drive out towards Junkön. If you had driven farther out in the island the first short ice road lead you would have arrived at the sea lane into Luleå harbor. It is open for shipping even in the winter with help of ice breakers. The parking for the restaurant there is on the ice and 300meter from if you can ship pass by. That makes it really obvious you are out on the ice when a ship pas by you a few hundred meters away.

That’s really cool I didn’t know that on the way back there was a shit I could see in the distance Which just seems so bizarre to drive past. those were the two ice roads I saw which had the weight rating for my van

It's such a weird concept for us in the UK, where 5cm of snow makes everything grind to a halt. I've never had the chance to stand on a frozen pond, let alone drive over open water. Not sure it's going on my wish list?

Wow, welcome to my home town! Iceroads are just the most mundane to us. Good for people with summerhouses on the islands to get gear out. I remember a fb-friend from NY reacting to a wintry photo from central Luleå. "What´s that big open space?" A frozen lake. Meh. ;-)

Battery wasn’t the issue, you’ll find out next time what the issue was! . The starter has a trickle charger and it based under the driving seat so it’s always a lot warmer than the engine bay were they are installed most of the time.

Assuming you survive, camp overnight on the frozen sea in the Yeti :)

The birds fly south . Alex go”s north like your style. Nipped out for a work van came home with a 17 seater transit minibus . Now 4 seats Wife not impressed. Your tech stuff really helps . I Had a 66 plate transit 350 I bought it as a non runner after ford main dealer told the owner It had add blue in the oil and refused the warranty only 44000 miles . It was Head gasket blow between 2 a 3 . turbo loom wires broken common fault . The cam belt changes should be about 50k max . the egr actuator looks like an cheap McDonald’s toy and needs checking it’s deep at the back of head . But on the bright side I now know how to rebuild a 2.0 ecoblue engine on a kitchen worktop . Mate your photos fuel dream and Help me to move forward on my van build . 👍cheers Tom
@MispronouncedAdventures2 жыл бұрын
yeah I’ve always loved the cold! So for me definitely had North over south. Good job on getting that engine and van to come back to life! Adblue is definitely not an appropriate substitute for engine oil! It actually freezing out here at -11 apparently. I’ll be getting my timing belt done at some point in the next year. Ford recommends a visual inspection at 104k miles and to be completely changed 144k. I’m at 108K, visually looking at it through the oil filler cap it doesn’t have any designs of deterioration that I’ve seen to worry about. Glad that I’ve been a help for your builds and I wish you the best of luck on it.

It’s been pretty cool and cold that’s for sure. I’m using a old DJI Spark. I would 100% not recommend it, so many Signal issues when flying to the point it’s almost Unflyable.
