I have a 420hp 2013 Mustang and the punch isn't as good as the Hemis, but once you hit 30-40 mph it starts hitting hard. lol Coyote is definitely a high RPM engine. I am really impressed that it keeps up with stock Scatpacks, based on my experience.

I’ve been wanting a Scatpack Challenger for awhile now. I really don’t like the body styles on the new Mustangs so I’ve pretty much ditched them. However, I was back home and drove my dad’s 2006 Mustang GT and it only has 300 hp. I forgot how punchy it was once you got above 3,000 RPM’s. It got me thinking if the Scatpack is too much…I don’t think I’ll ever go back to Ford though.

I loved the low end TQ of the Scat Valve train was trash I traded in for a mustang all aluminum 5.0 liter better heat management I'll miss the Scat but not those junky MDS lifters, it was a weekend driver only, I changed the oil three times in only 7900 miles and after sitting in my Garage for sometimes two to three weeks those lifters would tick a little if I would've kept the car I would've got rid of that MDS SYSTEM.

Just bought a new 2021 GT today. I tried to buy another Scat Pack yesterday, but the Dodge dealer wanted $5000 over MSRP and nearly $2000 in dealer fees. Ford dealer knocked off $500 from MSRP and just added tax, so, Ford won this time. It has been 8 years since my last 2012 Mustang, so looking forward to the new toy!

I've had 5 Mopars (2 Hellcats, 2 Scat Packs and 1 RT). I recently got my 1st Coyote Mustang, a 2021 GT with a 6 speed manual and it is a total different driving experience. The Mustang with the small displacement 5.0L lacks the low end grunt my pushrod Mopar's had but it makes up for it as you rev the engine, it just keeps pulling. I had to learn how to drive the car, but once I did, it's fun as heck! It's got less weight and handles a bit better also. I might get another Mopar as a second car though, because I do miss the raw power of the pushrod engines!

@RacerX-One of the things you'll find once the transmission is built that you might want to get a higher stall torque converter. From a dig the car will perform much better out of the hole by launching in boost. With the lock up feature in modern torque converters, you don't lose as much drivability as you would think. RPM is the key with the Mustang. You have to rev them to make power.

Welcome to the turbo life RacerX! Another great advantage with a turbo car is brake boosting. When roll racing you're not always able to get the RPMS where you want them depending on the roll speed. If you so happen to run into a FBO hellcat you're going to need boost right away! By brake boosting you can have boost at 4500rpm, if you've the traction available you can take full advantage of the rpms from 4500-8000rpm! Feels like a slingshot, try it man!!

@DWH300 2 жыл бұрын
The Coyote revs at a much higher RPM range than the Hemi. At my local NHRA track they run a Coyote race only class for all Mustangs built with Coyote engines where winners are weighed after each run. They leave with the wheels in the air at screening RPMs. Where my Chrysler 300C 5.7 running a stock tune couldn't handle those RPMs. It shifts around 6000. (I recommend driving a Shelby GT350. The flat plane crank is extremely high revving which feels like you need to shift before you red line around 8000 RPMS). The aforementioned Coyote cars run 9s in a quarter mile. You get the hang of driving your hot twin turbo Stang. Very few vehicles will want to line up against you. Tomorrow my track is running drive in street, bracket racing which I really enjoy running in. I have a feeling you could sneak through tech since your Mustang looks stock under the hood and dominate some Hellcats, Red-eyes and GT500s. By the way. What was your ET against that Hellcat?

Also, looks like the car needs a converter and trans brake or 2 step. Bet it still has 3.15 gears too instead of 3.55. TVS 2650 would have given you off idle torque but Turbos are better with a converter and trans brake.

Nice video, Bro. You're right, completely different types of engines. Every time I raced a Scat, he got the jump on me, and every time, a second later, I'd catch and pass him. The Mustang has good low end torque. 420 lb feet of torque is nothing to sneeze at, but if you love low end torque, the V8 Challengers are the way to go. My 350r is nowhere near this power because it’s stock but the power is definitely up top. I love how the higher the rpm’s go, the harder it pulls. I love doing some spirited backroad driving between 5000-7500rpms. I like to imagine the guys in the homes I pass on said backroads appreciate the sound too lol

Coyote's are most effcient with turbo's, DOHC brings that nature. A whipple car is still insanely fast, but the top end of the OHC design is better complimented with the Turbos.

@@169abr I agree that turbos are the most efficient way of making big power. For a max effort roll race car or drag car with transbrake and 2 step, it's also the fastest. However, If we are talking about just a fun street car, I would prefer the 3.0L whipple or any other positive displacement blower over a turbo setup. With the turbos, you really have to be up in the rpm range to get the power out of it. Turbos don't fully spool until 4500-5000 rpm on a coyote and there is a massive torque spike in the mid range while it is spooling. Power comes on like light switch. Fun as hell while in a straight line, but not so much in a turn having fun on a mountain road. PD blowers have a much flatter torque curve since the boost is always there, which means the car is much more predictable, and you don't have to rev the hell out of it to get that push you back in your seat feeling. Being a street car I just feel PD is a better experience from idle to 5,000 rpm where you will be most of the time.

@@Jr_5646 true shit right there, if I were building a street car I’d personally do a centri blower just cause I like the way the power comes on and honestly I enjoy the way they look under hood. Something like a VMP or a Whipple is also always in the back of my head for that instant punch like you mentioned, I think RacerX and many others are chasing times and going for that max effort stuff but I personally don’t wanna be fuckin with my engine/pipes all the time and just wanna start the car and roll tf out when I want to and blowers just make more sense for that.

I went the opposite way, ditched my Mustang and went to a Challenger. The Mustang is a budget sports car, the Challenger is a luxury Muscle car. I enjoyed my 15 Mustang GT for the most part but hated the low end power delivery and it felt just all around cheaply made, it didn’t help that everybody owns one. There’s 4 S550 GT’s in my neighborhood alone.
