Matt, it's your common sense and understanding of lifting, positioning and weight and forces that makes you a natural recovery chief. If this was a reality TV show everyone would be arguing, getting mad, this 5 mins of content would be stretched out to 30 mins with ad breaks and cliff hangers in between
@ThatGuy-sd3zl4 жыл бұрын
Also you’d have a narrator with a really deep voice making everything so dramatic. “With the car precariously pitched nose down a steep incline, Matt attempts to lift the wrecked vehicle up with his 12 ton wrecker truck. With uncertainty coursing through everyone’s veins the vehicle is pulled but problems soon arise as a massive rock weighing 32 tons is propped against the vehicles underside. One wrong move and the fuel tank could rupture setting the entire neighborhood on fire. After several gruelling minutes the decision was made to lower the car once again in attempts to free the rock. Matt’s decision worked and the wrecker crews is now faced with another danger. If one of the winch cables snaps it could recoil with deadly force, potentially injuring or killing one of the wreckers crew members.” 🙄

How does the police dispatch work there in your area? Rotation list, first come first serve, or the police contract with one specific company as primary with backups? Since you didn't collect payment - guessing the PD pays for this one, or did you just wind up billing the first company for the extrication? I spent 16 years in the industry up in the PNW before moving to Texas a year ago, your channel popped up recently in my recommended vids and I got hooked. If we hadn't come to Texas, we would've landed in the St. George / Hurricane vicinity. You guys get some pretty crazy recoveries but you seem to handle them well. I can tell from your vids that customer service is top priority for ya'll, which is how we handled things where I used to work, and what I tried to instill in my employees as a business owner. Great content, Matt!

Even if that other truck wasn’t as big as yours, he could have at least pulled up parallel to the direction that he was pulling and done the same thing you did with a slightly shorter arm, but the car got snagged on that rock one way or the other. But then of course we have to understand that he couldn’t just drop the car where it was and re-position without the car falling back into the ravine, and he probably picked his original position which was a little awkward so that he only blocked one lane. Lifted the car almost to the top and ran into trouble, called a second truck instead of starting all over again, kind of makes sense if you think about it. Certainly quicker. On the CHP dime, time is definitely money, get it done quick and now. Old-timer has nothing to be ashamed of.
