Oh Billy some hardship man. I am a few years into my gardening business and can resonate with a lot of the issues you've faced so far. The tree game especially there is always obstacles and I'm like yourself I don't come from money by any means. I'm out of work since August with a wreck of a pickup that I paid decent enough money for. You are dead "the world is against everyone" , that is very true a lot of the time. Well done on passing as a loler tester, please God the truck and chipper etc serve you well for many years. You've a great positive outlook despite struggles 👊👏 I will share this video now on my Facebook and in arb group I'm in as I think it's very worthy of sharing. You ought to be proud of yourself man! 🙌 Drive on mate. Philip from Cork ✌️

A lot of sound advice here. Whilst I'm new to arb (just started working in September) I've ran my own businesses since I was in my 20's and you're spot on about not flashing the cash around from jobs. The cash is the businesses - not yours. I always only ever start taking a wage from my businesses once there's a years worth of salary clear in the bank and accounted for in business plan. Sounds like you've got the right mindset and like that's paying dividends for you. Kudos and long may it reign for you brother.

Haha “I bought a 3.5 ton truck and had to take the day off to weigh it” wtf. I think if anything puts me out of business, it’s gonna be the regulations. Did a tree for a farmer today and he was saying the same thing about his industry.

Its always when its going smoothly that something happens, being a business owner is so stressful and doubting at times. But once you build a name for yourself it will start feeling more rewarding trust me. 🤙

I’m in England and primarily run a hilux with a tipping trailer, would like a chip truck but with the weight restrictions a 3.5t transit is so often over weight when half full with chip so the trailer can take up to 3 tonne of chip legally whereas a tipper with an arb box on the back is more like .5t to 1t of chip so at best only 1/3 as much. What a nightmare with that tree the customer didn’t want cut down. I always always get the customer to go through with me and either spray paint or tape mark the trees that are to come out so then they can’t tell me I’m cutting the wrong tree down. Saves some hassle. Such sound advice regarding not blowing all the money and keeping some aside for when things hit the fan. Really enjoying the videos and hope to see more. Great to hear you’re doing bc great and long may it continue for you. Great inspiration towards the end of the video also.

@@jameshancock18 I run a similar set up here in America. I got a ram 2500 as my welding rig so usually I’ll bring a tipper trailer and Jansen chipper. Just chip into the trailer. If that set up is too big to fit where I need it to go I’ll just chip into the bed of my Tacoma and shovel it out by hand.

Love the honesty and advice mate, I'm a trainee tree surgeon with a background in graphic design and advertising, I'm helping the tree business i work for get jobs and 'modernise' it with online platforms , websites etc... and in return being paid a pretty decent trainee wage. My question to you is how do you or other business owners find work on a consistent basis? Is there any advertising involved or is it word of mouth? would love your insight, cheers

Keep going Billy big balls it's taken me 10 years to get well established and 100% agree to keep capitol to hand as things go wrong very fast sometimes. Also main thing what makes my arse itch is pricing a job maybe getting it done 2 or 3 weeks later then when it's done not getting paid so then having to return which is time and fuel etc.. not everyone will bank online and your general public won't want to pay vat it's not easy man..
