Just an idea…I think it would be profoundly helpful if you could do some videos checking back with dogs and owners a year or so after their sessions with Tom!! It would be so informative to see how they applied the training to their lives and how the dogs are getting along now!!! ❤

Cant believe Laura is the star of this video. We are working hard every day. Tom has given me the tools I just need to continue to use what he has taught me. I'm not gonna lie we have good days and bad days but ultimately we are moving forward. Thank you so much Tom and this video is just the icing on the cake for me so I can keep going back and refreshing my dyslexic little brain of all you have taught me. 🙏 I REALLY wish Tom Davis could work with Pres. Biden's german shepherd, Commander, who kept biting Secret Service agents. The poor dog got ALL the blame for his bad behavior, but it's likely the HANDLER'S fault. Tom could change Commander's life, who is gone from the White House now, but how in the world to connect them???

This video made me cry. It was so beautiful to watch the German Shepherd begin to transform, and to see the gratitude and openness of the owner. What that dog owner said about his dog and its behaviors reminded me of myself and my Australian Shepherd. Tom is truly living his destiny and it's simply a beautiful thing to watch.

@@SuperNickparker , I love that so much and your dedication to Laura. My boy Koda, a 3yr old Australian Shepherd is extremely reactive toward strange dogs, and strange people. It's extremely stressful. I have had to avoid so many situations and I do not have the life I envision with him. I pretty much only take him for night walks to decrease trigger situations. He has also bit people a few times when he was about 9 months old. Videos like this give me hope. I would never give up on him (or myself). I love him so much. When he is with me or people he knows he is so sweet and loving.

@lisaduehr5306 im in the same situation with my Australian shepherd. He's a rescue and the shelter didn't tell us he's dog reactive, even knowing were first time owners. Definitely partially my fault for not asking, but we're here now. I love him, but walking him is awful. He doesn't get as much exercise as I'd want him too because walking him sucks. He fixates on people but at least he's friendly to them. Hes so aggressive towards other dogs tho. The whole neighborhood is scared of him and no training has worked, which is why im here :') gl with your dogs!

@@willowoahh , I take Koda on night walks where we are less apt to see other dogs or people and when we do, I'm able to cross over to avoid them. I walk him at least an hour every night, rain or shine because he loves going for walks more than anything. It's the highlight of his day. I have pushed through and continue to work with him, and myself. I love him, and we will be together for life. I'm sure you feel the same way about your dog too❤

@@SuperNickparkerI'm so glad Tom and you got to work through those tough habits Laura had inadvertently picked up and you now have the tools to help Lauren be the best she can be. You can tell she has so much drive and personality that was just waiting to be shown. You can see how much love and adoration you both have for each other. Not you can help calm her nervous brain and the both of you are better off for it. I'm sure Laura is so much more relaxed and happy. Now she has somewhere to direct all that GSD nervous energy. I'm she she is thankful that you persevered and found the help you both needed. Many owners just don't understand and have been misguided with bad advice. It will be an uphill battle but I know you and Laura have a wonderful relationship and life ahead of you. She is so driven and intelligent and you are as well. That and Tom's guidance has made so much difference in a short time. I like how you point out you have a "dyslexic brain" I have adhd so I can empathize. Tom is so great at finding the correct tools for both the owners and the dog. He truly tailors his training to best fit practically any situation. Best of luck to you and Laura. I am so glad you found Tom so you both can have the best life possible. I'm so glad you see that training takes time and you give Laura grace when there are set backs. You see through the problem behaviors and see Laura's true potential. These habits are practically etche in her brain but I have no doubt you guys will continue to improve your lives everyday. Even if it is two steps forward one step back you focus on the improvement and that is what will make you a successful dog owner. Congrats and great work!

Yep. As humans, unknowingly we just expect certain behaviors from a dog because they’re..”domesticated,” but..this whole engagement thing is so central to everything. I just visited with Sonja Nordstrom after hearing her podcast with Robert Cabral, and when you see how someone like that interacts with your dog, how simple and subtle their abilities are in creating a total engagement and interest with the animal, how excited and interested the dog becomes you then realize all the lost opportunities you’ve missed in creating a better relationship with your dog..but it’s never too late..!

Recently I watched a trainer, ,visit home to train their dog ,that laborer dog was tied with chain and that trainer listened to dog owner ,and then went to see dog I carry steel stick i guess the dog was chaind and the dog quite agressive and ,that stupid trainer started hitting that dog with stick. I was like what the f**** is this a way to handle a dog ??? And people in the comments box were like that the trainer knows well, how to handle aggressive dog and I felt so sorry for the dog that he was surrounded by such stupid owner and stupid trainer. 😞 After seeing this video I'm damn sure that humans do need their own behaviour correction first.

First it's the commitment to the dogs, the knowledge gathered over the years to help them lead better lives. Second how you convey that knowledge to the dog owners, how you explain and engage with each pair to better help them move forward with one another. It's everything - the work you do. Finally, to watch your journey the last few years... the thoughtful way in which you have built your business, the team you've assembled, your vision to do more, do better... dude (!)... I'm so impressed and so happy for you all. There's a show offer coming for sure, there's more ahead. Thank you... 🐾

Saw you on Fox Tom. It was great to see you addressing the REAL issues with Commander. I feel so bad for Commander and their previous dog Major. Those poor dogs were political pawns. Pissed me off to no end to see how they were treated/neglected. Neither got the chance to bond to anyone, neither knew who they should look to as the pack leader. I appreciate you offering your services,,,but they would never accept,,,because if they did, they would be admitting to making mistakes.

I continue to work with my rescued Labradoodle and have signed up for a private trainer, and I’m hoping it will help me help Henry. He shows so much restraint but cars literally set him off to a level that even the trainer said “wow”… because he is so obedient on every other level . I don’t know what his background was that something traumatic had to have happened to him… Tom you are an incredible dog trainer and I wish you would be sometime somewhere near Chicago!!! I have gained so much from watching your videos. I just wish I could have you privately or in a group for a few days. I know you would help me unlock Henry or myself to help Henry.!! if you recall, I reached out a while ago because he had broken off his prong collar and was hit by a car!!! I did not have that safety latch that went from the leash to his hard collar. Thankfully, he was not terribly injured just bruised and abraised. I now of course, have the safety latch.!!! However I am traumatized by the ordeal and I’m slowly mustering courage to begin again!

Hi Tom, i have a 1 yr old bitch german shepherd called Honey (a rescue puppy from Spain) and have just taken on to rehome an unwanted 5 month old male german shepherd called Todd, i also have a 10 yr old Shitzu pug cross called Bugsy who has exemplary behaviour he's also a rescue ive had him for 6 yrs and untill November this year my old boy of 18 yrs Buzzie who was a Patadale and died in my arms from a heart attack. Do you have a video on training 2 young dogs together? Ive had dogs all my life (im now 70 but a fit and young at heart one)mostly rescues and mostly large dogs. I have an affinity with most animals, im calm softly spoken and hate aggression to animals. Now Todd after one week with me follows me everywhere and obeys all my commands , however Honey now a year old was the same untill recently she now has a bit of an independent streak. Can i train them to heel together ? What do you suggest. Many thanks from Gary, im an avid watcher of your videos in S/E UK.

I just came here to say well done mate, you and laura will go far!! Also... I love these collaborative projects with yourself and will. Its very cool to see 2 trainers so confident in their methods that theres no need to crap all over other trainers differing methods. Its one of my favourite things about you both. Ive listened to will and yourself address the issues with pp trainers, just so nice and straight up classy. It inspires such confidence in what you both are trying to achieve. Im straight up opposite 😂 i use a herm sprenger pinch on my dog and have been chewed out in public for using it on such a well behaved dog. I wish i could calmly explain how this tool calms my dog and makes her able to focus on me, and the benifit goes more to her confidence than my handling instead, over time ive learnt if i move closer to nosy, rude wanker, say nothing and clip the lead onto the flat collar, and watch how quickly the smug self righteous expression drops off their face and then get to see how quuck they bolt when my heeler immediately tries to eat them makes me snicker obnoxiously for the rest of the day. Not perfect but ill never be classy any way 😂 and i actually feel true joy if someone actually squeals whilst bailing 😂 andnthen ill listen to you guys on a podcast rationally and intelligently speaking on tools for training and id like to say i feel moderately ashamed of myself, but id be lying. I love these stories so much. Im hoping to catch a seminar if you come back to Australia

My GSD bitch was difficult with a fearful personality, but with time and training she has come a long way, some issues have been resolved and a few remain to be conquered, slowly she is overcoming her issues now she's 5 years old and very mature. She is a distraction though to her sibling boy shepherd, she distracts him while I'm trying to command him when we're all together, when they are alone with me they are better dogs. Easily distracted.

@Tomdavisofficial_on_te-le-gra- hey Tom, yeah she's what the breeders called a fear biter, pure black shep and highly driven east German working breed. The simptoms are she is nervous and timid a bit and can find it difficult staying still on command. In some ways she's outstanding so she makes up for that. But the gealousy between the two dogs is always present, they both compete for my attention so much that it spoils the peace. The problem was I reared the puppy around her and she played me off by distracting him, when I command him he says yes daddy with his eyes but then always looks fort her reaction and where is she, because he's worried about her not what I'm asking. Very annoying. He's so much better on his own but he's still looking for her every time I command him. It's just the way it is now I guess, only e collar could start to correct this and I don't believe in that or the price. The costs are huge alone keeping two 45+ kg shepherds

I’ve been watching Tom’s videos for years now and thanks to him I’ve learned so much about dog training as a pet owner, specifically my 2 dogs, and especially my German Shepherd. I share this info with as many people as possible that I see struggling with their dogs because I did it and they can too. I rep the NBD army and when I started getting really into training with my Shepherd, people didn’t understand, but they saw the result. A well behaved beautiful dog - the outcome of a lot of work and perseverance, thanks to Tom’s teachings. I relate so much to these videos and success stories because it opens up a better relationship with your dog and makes both the owner and pets’ lives better. I’ve yet to meet Tom, but I can’t wait to one day! Thank you Tom for changing peoples lives, including mine. ❤

What a fantastic video!! Nice job to all!! Everything in this video hit home for me in every way. I was able to see this video 2 days after picking up my boy Jax from his bt with upstate and having a amazing go home session with one of the trainers. This video was beyond on point for me. Between the dedication of Laura's owner, Laura's temperament, and the advice from Tom this is so darn similar to Jax and I. Honestly it brought tears to my eyes when i saw this video. I already have the motivation to do everything i possibly could to learn and do the best i could for both jax and i, and our relationship, but after watching this video I'm even more driven. Jax and i have a lot of work to do but im looking forward to it. Thanks for everything you do!!

This content is very inspiring to me. I adopted my first dog an Akita Inu, Ice, at 4 months old. She loves people and other dogs. She plays nicely. Walking her is a dream. Then at 18 months her brother Buddy was given up by his first adoptive family. No one would take him. I felt that there was no other option. I had to take him and I did. He had a physical impairment which our vet said caused him pain 100 percent of the time. One of his testicles was inside and had become bound to his other internal organs. We immediately had the surgery to have him castrated at the end of May. It has taken him until the end of September for him to achieve the agility Ice has. He is bigger than her but until now she could always out run him and he could never keep up with her moves. Now he can finally. It has taken months of physical rehab for him. He is better but still very reactive on other dogs. He is no longer reacting on people or kids. No barking and no other aggression. But he is very reactive to other dogs to the point that no other dog owner wants to meet up with us. He barks and walks on his back legs. I have him under control. I bring him down on all 4s immediately. I place my legs around him. I take his head up under my chin so the top of his head is against my chest when I speak to him. When he is not triggered, I can get his attention without this move. He is quite a big boy - 35 kilos or 77lbs. Ice never needed this kind of intervention. He is able to walk past a barky dog behind a fence. He shows no aggression towards people. But he is not able to meet another dog without barking and walking on his back legs. When he does this I get him back on all 4's immediately and we turn around and go home. No more fun when he does that.

Its very clear that GSD Laura looks so confused as to what she should do, like manic a little, she is a beauty and seems super smart and wants to please, she also looks like she would love and excel at agility work and competitions, but she is def in good hands with you both ❤❤

Our GSD is almost at exactly the same and she has come along way ! It is always hard though to dial in the distance between other dogs as she isn't motived by a toy outside of the home, is there a way to get a toy or item to be a greater focus to her ? Will be trying the impulse training seen here towards her training! Great video.

Wow, you explained my dogs reactivity and even choppy breathing when I take him out. He’s always scanning, looking for the enemy, ready…always ready. I’ve never tried toys outside the house. This is what the K9 officers do with their dogs, I’ll have to try it. My dog is a Pit and looks tough but very insecure. He’s a rescue I got with no history, and yet he doesn’t like other dogs, tolerates out cat through my sons gate, and is afraid of kids. I’ve never had a Pit like him. He’s scared of almost everything. This video is helpful. Thanks for posting.

Absolutely love where he says" that's what a correction is. Don't tell the internet that it's abuse to them 😂😂😂. I got attacked by internet people for calling a dog snobby and picky because she would not eat her food Rae or kibble. And I just saved this dog from a bad situation

Me too. I’ve wanted him to train our German shepherd dogs but for $4300 plus per dog for this company training it won’t happen. I went to a $90 total for a three month class before and has worked with my other dogs we owned in the past, but these two we have now it’s impossible.

❤ I just absolutely love every part of this video! So detailed the information, the one thing that I love most about Tom is how he communicates with the dog not only that but how he reads the dog and the energy about him… I also love that he can articulate and explain everything so easily so that anyone can understand it and put into practice the things that he tells us to do and it’s really incredible💪🏼🙏🏼❤️

When you are on vacation in Holland give me a sign. Would like some help with my 2 GSD. Sky 5 years (female) and Nova 1 year (female - Sky’s daughter). Sky was very reactive dog when was young, but in the years we worked with her and she changed; more of the reactive behaivor are almost gone. But Nova is hyper-reactive dog, more than Sky. We did some cursus with her but still not the reactive behaivor 😢 I need to say; walking with a leash is a nightmare. But when they walked without leash in the forest they are completly another dogs.

Please help me !! I rescued a six month old Labradoodle a year ago and I can’t take him anywhere. He’s beautifully obedient on my property, but dangerously reactive to cars.! I’m afraid I will have to rehome him, but no one will put up with this! He is worthy of a good life, and I am worthy of having a good dog that I can take hiking
