Put the murder aside for a moment, just the entitlement here, that in their minds the victim was REQUIRED to do what they ordered is just nauseating to me. They wanted to prove themselves superior & they were willing to kill for it. I hope their prison life is torturous.

Travis is claiming self defense, but he rushed Ahmaud with a loaded gun. Ahmaud was unarmed and defending himself against a man with a gun ( that is self defense ). No matter how you see this, these men ran him down like an animal, instead of calling the police with their suspicions.

Watching the Arbery murder trial I just kept thinking that that man allowed his father to convince and push him to chase and kill an unarmed man (someone else’s son). Had the father told his son let’s just call the cops and wait at home for them instead of acting like it is the Wild West, Ahmaud Arbery would be alive. His father whom he called every day would still have his son.

What I find extremely distressing is that without the video of them shooting Ahmaud, they would have been free to go after killing him. The cops covered for them (they told Ahmaud's mother that her son was killed robbing someone's house and the homeowner shot him), the D.A tried to cover it up because she was friends with the racist father, and without the release of the video, nothing would have happened to them. A modern lynching happened and they almost got away with it because of crooked people in power.

Any reasonable person in his position would’ve been scared for their life and felt they had to fight back to save it. Your statement that he wasn’t “innocent” just looks like your own bias leaking out, trying to justify something that you shouldn’t. @@dnkmarci It comes down to whether the citizens arrest was valid, whether there was an appropriate use of force, etc. Not whether or not he chose to chase. That isn't the central question at all. There is absolutely a scenario in which you can, in the state of Georgia, chase down a suspect for a citizens arrest if you witness the crime directly, and if they right you, lethal force could be lawfully used. This wasn't that scenario. They didn't witness the crime. They didn't attempt to apprehend or stop him peacefully or explain themselves or gather any evidence whatsoever. There's absolutely no reason why I should need to take a 3 month course on driving to get a license to drive, but I can stop by the pawn shop and get a gun within 3 days of submitting my background check, regardless of if it's gone through or not with no license, no training, and no safety guidance.

D) You fail to identify yourself to me as to who you are and in what capacity. But, I should stop and speak with you? This is very similar to George Zimmerman. If you have dark skin, and are out for a jog, and go across a white neighborhood while out jogging, and look at a place being built out of curiosity, but don't touch anything, the likelihood is, you''re going to be killed. Because a lot of men like this yahoo on trial seems to think it should be completely legal to kill anyone with dark skin and then get on with their day as if they simply killed a wild animal. The difference, according to the jury, is who first initiated deadly force. In the case of Zimmerman (an undisputed asshole), it was at least possible that Martin was the first to initiate deadly force. Since Zimmerman was considered innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, all the defense had to do (as in all cases) was introduce "reasonable doubt" about who initiated deadly force. Following a guy may or may not constitute an initiation of deadly force, depending on many circumstances. Walking behind a guy at a reasonable distance with a phone in-hand and a gun hidden secretly about your person is not in itself a crime. Turning about-face and physically attacking your follower probably is a crime in most cases. Since Martin may have attacked first, Zimmerman gets to introduce "reasonable doubt." But in the case of McMichael and the other two men involved in this fiasco, we have video to prove that Arbery did not turn about-face and attack merely because he was being observed or questioned. He only went on the offensive when he had cause to fear for his life - reasonable cause that was introduced by his assailants. It is undeniable that Arbery was engaged in self-defense. Had Arbery succeeded in killing his assailant(s), I hope his jury would have granted him the benefit of "reasonable doubt," as in Zimmerman's case, based upon the fact that he (Arbery) did not initiate deadly force. Sadly, Arbery did not succeed in defending his life, so here we are. These cases have similarities, no doubt, but many disparate things are similar in some respects, while opposite in others. Here we have two cases of probable murder. One was proven beyond a reasonable doubt, and the other was not. Zimmerman walked for the same reason why O.J. Simpson walked - and why many criminals walk: The prosecution failed to prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt. That's basically it.

@@rosemarymcgrory5678 A wrong explanation. The only thing is Trayvon Martin called his friend to tell her a man was following him on his way back to his dad’s house and he was scared. The friend testified that she was on the phone with him when Trayvon confronted Zimmerman for following him at night, which was Trayvon’s right to do. He was defending himself against an ADULT stalker! A grown man was following a child!!! Zimmerman was told by 911 to not pursue the “man” who was actually a 14 year old boy! He was told by the police dispatcher to let the police investigate any impropriety the person MAY have done! Instead, Zimmerman took the law into his own hands and continued following that child. He killed a Black child for nothing. The difference in the 2 cases is actually the SAME… no difference. Two Black people were killed because they were BLACK! Had they been White, the killings would never have happened! The jury got it wrong because Zimmerman broke the stalking law; he was menacing and scaring a child, while caring a concealed weapon! Rosemary, you don’t understand that racism always causes White people to see Black youths as Men and Women. While White youths are viewed as “kids”. Children, both Black and White people under age 18, are, by law, ALL CHILDREN!

@From the Futon Your commentary demonstrates just how misguided/delusional you truly are. Imagine if it were you being relentlessly pursued by a hungry pack of wolves shouting racial slurs and aggressive language for 5 mins with you trying to escape, being cornered and in a further fight or flight situation? of course such considerations are not applicable for a person of colour according to your warped mindset. Let's hope you never find yourself in a such a situation. Should the title racist or moron or both be more fitting towards you?

@From the Futon He was never a hardened criminal and even if he were that did not give these murderous thugs the right to intimidate and kill him. He did nothing wrong at the exact time they decide to pursue him relentless - I wonder whether you would like the same thing to happen to you? Never say never - it could happen to you even though you may believe you are privileged given your European descent. Remember, as many people seem to have overlooked, he was the victim and not the perpetrator here - in case you have overlooked this obvious fact - change your bigoted and racist mindset. He was still a human being which again you appear to have overlooked. If you needed to be donated a body part and desperate to live and that donor was black, I am sure you would not object to this - but all of a sudden you object to murderous thugs being exposed for their wicked crime. Pitiful and sad.
