He left out the fact they were chasing and harrasing him because he was a black man running in a rural white area. The guy who " suspected " he'd done something wrong shows exactly the way thes kind of ppl think. Had he minded his business this young man would still be here. He stereotyped him and it cost him his life.

I'm so grateful that there are men like him involved in the GA legal system. I hear so many racist things out of so many people since I moved down here and this makes me feel like there is still hope for continuing improvement in the justice system. People like these murderers should never feel like they can do things like this without consequences because of race or their prior or current affiliation with law enforcement. Every person should be held to the same moral and legal standards no matter what.

The judges own opinion that he gave on each murderer was so accurate, the facial expressions left on the defense lawyers were of disbelief, guess they never expected a judge to give such a strong accurate personal opinion, the best part was when the judge gave a theatrical moment, asking everyone to sit in silence for 1 minute ( explaining that was only a fraction of time when ahmaud arbery was running for his life ) that was such a strong and powerful statement through out of the entire trial, this honourable judge deserves a gold medal. @@sj6919 well it’s not as if southern white men had a meeting and decided that this young man was a run away slave and these 3 are the “slave hunters” that are to be sent to represent southern white men. They’re just idiots that decided to throw their lives away and become murders. That’s all they are. There was absolutely no systemic racism from the justice system and these three were convicted and sentenced. You can still make these type comments of course, as long as you don’t mind being wrong. You can even keep making these 160 year old connections that run all the way back to Jefferson Davis, as long as you don’t mind being wrong. Well, it confirms our could-be beautiful Justice System sometimes works as it should. In this case it worked. It didn’t matter that the victim was black, it didn’t matter that the defendants were white, it served Justice on equal terms. But…. What if they were rich? Would they have been found guilty and if they were would they have been given the proper sentence? Probably not. All that being said, though perhaps naive, I love your faith in Process that is Due. ;)

I think justice was served, but swung a bit too far. The felony-murder rule makes a joke of the principle that punishment should be based on the crime committed. The life sentence of Bryan should be an obvious example to anyone not swept away by the rage of the moment. All of us are accountable except Ahmaud Arbery! Crime and a life of crime has always been detrimental to your health and Floyd, Brooks and Arbery are obviously not exceptions to those rules! How about we stop pretending these were good men, they were criminals and in the act of crime when they were killed. Constantly caseing potential crime targets and assault, allegedly using counterfeit money and resisting arrest and being drunk passed out at a Wendy's and then assaulting the 2 arresting officers and firing a taser at them are all crimes and they were all repeat offenders, not contributors to society. Can we at least just tell the truth and stop the racially motivated lies! There were definately bad costly decisions made by the arresting individuals especially in the Floyd case even though Floyd was the biggest criminal of the three! Brooks definately posed a serious threat to public safety and was shot and killed legitimately after beating 2 officers and firing their stolen taser at them.

Exactly. Officers of the law should focus on covert law enforcement such as focusing on what’s going on in communities. Not overt law enforcement such as focusing on an individual that are from any type of race/ethnic relations.
