My wife and me bought a couple of mt07s in may for our 20th wedding anniversary. We absolutely love em. Ive got the HO and she has the LAMS. You can feel a little bit of difference in power but they both go great. We're heading on a two week adventure from country NSW to Qld and back in October. Cant wait.

If you replace the stock exhaust on a LAMS bike, is it still legal ?? I am in New Zealand.
@jasondep2 жыл бұрын
My understanding is that it's technically "not legal" but the wording on the government website here in QLD Australia is a bit vague/open to interpretation - www.qld.gov.au/transport/licensing/motorcycles/licence-types - but I've never gotten in trouble with the police regarding it 😅 plus I bought the bike with the aftermarket slip on installed on it already from a dealer and had no issues 😊 There is however what's called a "restrictor plate" on this bike that's attached to the throttle cable, which if it's removed and replaced with a "derestricted plate" will then make the bike illegal and not LAMS compliant anymore 😅 not sure if this is the same for all LAMS models tho 😊

*You think this is too much for a first bike, learner with all that tourque?* I am 6 foot 80kg? Only ridden a WR450 a few times around a farm.
@jasondep8 ай бұрын
I can only comment on the LAMS/restricted version, which I think should be fine for a learner who’s ridden a 450cc like the WR450 😊 from personal experience, prior to getting the MT07, I used to ride a 250cc bike, and when I jumped onto the MT07 it felt like night and day in terms of the torque and definitely caught me off guard at first, but I got used to it fairly quickly 😅 Because you’ve ridden something bigger than 250cc you should hopefully get used to the torque fairly quickly, but as always with any new bike always take it easy at first 😊 The LAMS version is decently torquey, so I can only imagine how the HO/non-restricted version feels 😅

How does it compares to the Cb 650r? I'd like to upgrade from a ninja 400, the ergonomics in the ninja were an issue for me (I use it to commute and every 2 weeks a long distance ride). I'm also brazilian, so no test rides for me, sometimes they don't even have the bike in the floor so you could take a look at it. Any help would be appreciated
@jasondep2 жыл бұрын
I'm not too sure because I haven't ridden a CBR650R yet but definitely on my list of bikes to check out, I did find a good review that compares the two bikes that hopefully helps you 😊 kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZaZYpx7nK5sask - seems overall the CBR650R is a bit more modern and looks a bit nicer compared to the MT07 but it may be a good thing for some people who prefer simplicity (also reliability, MT07 has been incredibly reliable for me) but also the engine in the MT07 is definitely more characterful down low with the torque it produces 😊

Hey, the Honda was my driving school bike. I didnt like it. I love the look and the sound but it felt strange to drive. I got the Ninja 400 to start with, its like a bicycle compared to the Honda. Is it new rider friendly, or ideally a second or third bike?
@jasondep2 жыл бұрын
I would say this LAMS version is relatively new rider friendly (the HO version I imagine would be a bit too much for a new rider), for me it was my second bike because from my personal experience I believe it's always best to start off on a used lower CC bike like a 250cc (like I did) just to get used to riding, and then jump up to something bigger, I'm glad I did that because when I first took this bike for a test ride back in 2018 the torque definitely was something that caught me off guard initially because I was so used to the itty bitty power of my 250cc 😅 but the riding skill I had developed from riding my 250cc bike kept me falling off this bike 😊
@mbee1337 Жыл бұрын
8:21 alright, I don't know what bike you are talking about. that's pure fanboy speech - the suspension is so trash on models older than 2018. 2018+2019 got a little better susp. older than that its garbage!!!
@jasondep Жыл бұрын
That's fair enough 😊 for me it's been really good overall, unless it's a really poor condition road with lots of a bumps, and the seat definitely is not comfortable for long rides
