I hope we get to see a Habs vs Stars game in Tokyo one day. Having two Asian stars in the NHL, even though they aren't from their ethnic homelands, is still such an amazing connection to the Asian community. The Japanese crowd would especially love Suzuki since he's a Japanese Canadian. Having a global series game in Tokyo would also be great for the sport because the Japanese women's team has emerged recently. They actually beat Canada in the gold medal game of the Youth Olympics Games in 2020, so not promoting men's hockey there would be such a wasted opportunity.

Problem is that no one in Japan knows anything about hockey, I show clips of hockey to my Japanese friends and all of them are like "So its like soccer on ice with sticks" I even showed them Suzuki highlights and they're like "Is he a good player?" Kinda sad but I guess when baseball and soccer are king, ice hockey becomes an after thought

It is great for Nylander, but as you said there are other relevant Swedish players. I think its rather disappointing that despite scoring in both games Raymond couldn't get a win in front of his home crowd and HIS family as well. They were good games though and he did play well, just my two cents.

I'm sure he's fine with it. Detroit sucks and they gave them a good game. Toronto hadn't played a game in 6 days so they looked bad in the first 2 periods. 3rd period is how they play though. I'm sure he went with Willy after the game built a shelf and ate meatballs still 😂

Growing up, my friend and I were big leaf fans, and his Dad was always trying to convince us that the NHL was scripted. We always argued how absurd that was; too many people, too many factors, too many loose ties that could tear down the facade. "For millions of dollars, I'd pretend to score a goal too. Sports are the government's way of keeping us in line, distracted - beer and entertainment!" We'd obviously dismiss him as ridiculous, no matter how many times he would say it. Not like he was a particularly intellectual guy...I mean we DID used to accuse him of cheating at jeopardy, because he would get about 95% of the answers right every time. This was pre-internet, pre-tivo, pre-streaming days of course (think Clark/Gilmour/Potvin era) so we could never really figure out HOW he was cheating. But we just knew he was. There's no way Hockey is scripted, but shit like this? These types of amazing moments ALWAYS make me think of that crazy old man in his recliner who knew far too much about the world. There's no way he was right, is there? Guys?

Don’t want to take anything away from Nylander, but the Sens/Wild game had Sens goalie Forsberg pass to D Branstrom who went in and ripped a slapshot past Wild goalie (and former Sen) Gustafson to tie the game. All three are Swedes and were the three stars of the game. The fans got their fill.

everyone thinks Willie is gone yet don't seem to realize the cap is going up around to 4 million dollar mark and the Leafs have the intent to give it all to Willie to get him in the 10 million dollar mark and Mitch will get his raise through JT signing on for the home town discount.
