I was arguing with someone on Twitter about the deep fake situation because they were victim-blaming and I told them my age. They said I was "too young to talk about this" but I've been sexualized I've been scared about people taking pictures up my skirt I've been asked by a boy to show my boobs and he would pay me. I'm too young to talk about something I've experienced. Women get sexualised no matter how young they are.

You are so right! Most women were sexualized from the time we were girls, and I think many people don't realize it. I know it happened to me from a young age, then only became more frequent as I got older. I've always been mistaken for younger than my age too. You're never too young to have an opinion on something that affects you.

I'm pretty shocked that so much of the Wine About It audience is men, though it makes sense because of Twitch's demographics. That said, it kind of makes me happy. As a woman, I've spent most of my life seeing guys trivialize and dunk on women's conversations and interests. Cool to know there's so many guys out there watching what I consider to be extremely "feminine" content lol. I love Wine About It because it doesn't pander to male interests specifically, and it doesn't pull back to be more "acceptable to men," so to speak. Feels just like chatting with the girls, and it's cool to know there's so many guys nowadays who are open to listening.

In a way, it's a good thing that the majority of their audiences are men because now they get to listen to women talk about their perspectives and experiences. I have so many guy friends who would only listen to only male podcasters or male self-help gurus and wonder why they still don't understand women at all. I would tell them to just listen to women for once but of course they aren't interested. It's frustrating.

Re: 77%male viewership I'm a straight male watching this content. I think metrics aside, having an audience at least partly made up of people like me is an overall positive thing. Growing up on the internet and on TV and movies, any woman I've ever seen on a screen who I don't know has been there because they've been an attractive person before consideration of their talents, skills, careers. This has inherently been the societal norm I've been used to. Realistically, if I remain ignorant to questioning this norm, my life doesn't necessarily change for the better or worse, so remaining indifferent as a bystander (i.e. the typical global male audience) changes nothing, and as such society sees no problem. I just wanted to say thank you for making it so clear just how much of an issue this is. Talking through your experiences as someone who will never experience it myself has made an impact on me as I've been able to see it through your perspectives. Honestly I hated all those guys saying ‘oh it’s not that big of a deal, I wouldn’t care if it happened to me’ regarding the deepfake stuff. Women face so much more judgement for doing sexual acts. There are a lot more derogatory terms for women who are seen as sexually loose than there are to describe men who are, and it does do damage to a person’s reputation to be viewed in this way. Even if you support sex work, most of us can realize that women who do sex work often get treated as being ‘less valuable’ than women who don’t. Women content creators consciously make the decision not to do sexual content despite the fact that it would bring in massive profits because they are aware that this will define their professional reputation. This is important for women like Maya whose passion is conservation and owns an animal sanctuary because she needs to be viewed in a professional business sense in order to pursue her passion. QT is right when she said girl’s are taught early on that their value stems from their bodies, and we’re told it’s important for us to be seen are ‘clean’ ‘pure’ and ‘chaste’ in order for anybody to love us or even respect us as human beings. To have someone just completely defy these women’s autonomy and take their self image and place them in sexual scenarios they never consented to for millions to see is disgusting. So, for these guys to be so nonchalant about it was deeply frustrating, because they just can’t understand. They don’t understand what it feels like to not be taken seriously as a person because you’re only viewed as a means to achieve sexual gratification. They don’t understand what it’s like to constantly be told by parents to cover up their body because people might take advantage of them. They don’t understand the feeling of being seen as less because you had sex once. They don’t understand the feeling of shame so many women feel for even just possessing a women’s body. Yes, you can join the conversation, and your input is important, but don’t tell the women how to feel about it.

QT, in my opinion, I don’t believe the best thing to do when negative things happen is to be like “I made the mistake of…” and “never doing this again now I learned my lesson” when it’s not what you did that caused the “drama” but the toxic community that caused it. The fact that Reddit incels cannot understand consent and the difference between fansly and deepfakes, or that they cannot sympathize with you crying on stream after the traumatic experience you went through, doesn’t mean that moving forward you should not have a fansly sponsorship or express your feelings when you feel like it. Yeah, it’d be easier to be as least controversial as possible, and if that’s what you need for your mental health, then fuck what I’m saying. But I do think that you made the right call each time. Remember, we’re living in a time where misogyny is making a comeback due to Andre Tate, Adin Ross, etc..The vast majority of your fans honestly don’t take the time of the day to show direct support on Twitter, or comment on Reddit or KZbin. So just please remember that fact. Even a Reddit thread with 5000 comments hating you is fucking nothing compared to the millions that watched the Streamer Awards and loved it.

this pod is situated in such a perfect space to where discussions pertaining to women can be viewed by a male audience, i think a lot of women-led podcasts end up primarily with female viewers so this pod allows for these conversations to be normalized and i see a lot of men in the comments sharing that their view has changed, they recognize the issues etc. and i think that’s a great place to be (could certainly be better but at least it’s moving forward) and i think maya’s visualization for men is useful, it’s about something non-consensual that you wouldn’t want being seen and altering how people see you

I'm glad you two talked about the deepfake situation. I actually had no idea it affected both of you, I had only heard QT's name mentioned in the news. I still find it insane that there are dudes out there who see nothing wrong with the concept, and tell you you're making a big deal out of it. Its really not hard to imagine how violated a woman feels even though I live a completely different life from one. And don't apologize for "making it about you" It literally IS ABOUT YOU. You have every right to be offended and talk about it. There's definitely a lack of empathy from many guys, but I think it goes even further than that. I actually don't think they're intelligent enough to understand why it could be so damaging to someone, and it might just require some maturity with age. I remember when "the fappening" happened in 2014, when a bunch of celebrities had their nudes leaked, and thinking that it wasn't a big deal at the time. But after thinking about it for some time I realized how disgusting and violating it was that they didn't have a chance to consent to any of it. They didn't know it was even possible for it to get leaked, the same way a few years ago people wouldn't have conceived of deepfakes being a thing. I don't think the human brain is ready for this kind of disconnect.

Unexpected but i loved hearing QT talk about Wrestlemania. Life long fan and it’s always fun to hear what non wrestling fans think of the product negative or positive.

As a male I’m saying this honestly nobody, outside of how you guys describe the toxic male dominate streamer community, in the real world with any respect from others shares the take that you guys should be okay with it or that it’s alright. Mayas point about imagining seeing yourself getting railed from behind by Johnny sins is a great example and I strongly believe the vocal minority of people are bringing down your guys morale about the world needlessly. We love you guys and stay strong I can’t imagine how hard it is!

i think it comes with an age and maturity. for me the deepfakes are similar with the fappening when the celebs nudes were leaked. i never stopped to consider how the women woudl feel. i was just thinking hot celebrity naked awesome. now i feel kinda ashamed for that and i feel its kinda similar to these deepfakes. its not that i didnt thought about women as people but me as a guy i never had to consider such a situation happening to me so i didnt have an understanding bcs i couldnt even imagine somebody would watch my photos for sexual gratification so its harder to figure out empathy. thats why i think her streaming while crying helps to understand the impact it can have on a person and build that empathy.

QT going live actually changed my perspective. I'm M23 and i was confused when it all went down. I was not really aware of the severity of the situation I was thinking ehh not that bad what's the big deal typical guy stuff then QT went live. Her reason for people to see their mom their sister and react was actually how i processed it and realized the situation. I guess what i'm trying to say is that going live wasn't the worst thing ever because I'm sure i'm not the only one that went though that perspective change.

I came to this podcast as a brosef who basically only watched H3 and Hasanabi but now I will NEVER miss an episode of 'Wine About It'. I genuinely feel joy when I see a new pod up. I don't know specifically why I'm so addicted to this pod, maybe it's just the genuine friendship that is being captured here but please keep it up

really hits hard hearing your experience with the deepfake situation. I get so much privilege as a man that i dont even recognize and its really shitty that the internet in general but especially the streaming space isnt a safer space for women

i feel so bad for maya bc bangs suit her so much and are being ruined by weirdos. if anything i think natasha leggero looks like riley reid and i think maya looks like maya from pen15.

Also even if you'd never choose that route again, QT going live to show the impact I think really was powerful. You'll always get shitty people being shitty, but people who genuinely are deeply out of touch and don't know better, those people were capable of being moved. People can be redeemed, but they generally need guidance to get there. And that's exhausting for other people involved, so it's good to hear ya'll taking care of yourselves

I’m so glad this podcast is back. As a Woman in your audience it’s so refreshing to hear y’all just be real and honest about the shit we go through. Not sugar coated or hesitant to discuss it. I admire you two very much for your open honesty and vulnerability on here and just know that we relate a lot to you and share the same feelings. Being violated since a young age is completely traumatizing and something so many of us relate to. Especially with the frustration of being online without your consent and being posted by a trusted person is beyond violating and it’s confusing to go through. I feel for you and the way you discuss it is sooo relieving to know it’s not just me! Just know your female audience is here too and cares ❤️

It really does suck that I can't talk about Maya's Conservation work or anything else on the platform without weird connections to stuff like she said. It makes it hard and pushes back the entire culture bc people dont actually understand stuff or the people doing things that matter.

Apparently over sharing is a common trauma response. My theory is that it's a way to process it but also share the experience to help the group if they have a similar situation. Kinda like how crows learn.

maybe this sounds odd, but regarding the male audience and sex discussion, i personally watch for the content exclusively. I loved watching mayas nature vids, and qt and Lud are so funny together, and then when they both started interacting with HASAN i got super excited and watch wine about it religiously now

About the "you should be a plumber" bit, the closest thing to that in my experience is being taller than my peers most of my life. I've heard "You should play basketball" on repeat since I've had memory.
