I was shocked to hear that, honestly. Especially because I feel like Austin is a very likable and relatable guy who really doesn't alienate anyone, so I feel like he'd be a great representative for the community and Twitch. He talked about how him being open and comfortable talking about being gay has made lgbtq viewers feel more comfortable with themselves, and as a 30 year old straight military vet I've never felt like I wasn't welcome or like his content wasn't for me. He just seems like a genuinely funny, positive, kind person and I love what he brings to any stream or video he's a part of.

Both Austin and Aiden being so comfortable with themselves being lgbt have genuinely made me more comfortable telling people that I'm bisexual in my life. I only told a select few people for about 24 years but now at 26 I'm really open about it if it comes up. As a bisexual I don't really have an obligation to tell anyone to be fair so it's not nearly as much of a problem, but still it made it easier.

I think Austin is like the Neil Patrick Harris of twitch, a cool and funny guy that everybody likes who just happens to be gay. In a community that is often ostracised and seen as other I think that that does far more to combat the root problems causing the persecution that LGBTQ people often have to experience than any pride event ever could. I know that what he was talking about was sharing his story and supporting others in his community, but I just wanted to recognise how much of a positive impact he has already.
