Elle tells us why she believes we did NOT overestimate Caitlin Clark's talent but rather we underestimated the talent of the WNBA at large.

@@sbon3gyour wrong. You can have some turnovers and still win games but when your missing wide open layups and and getting ate up in the post and dealing with a teammate that's use to playing with teammates that are much faster in transition and on top of that a head coach that's acting like she has no idea what she is doing then yeah. CC is a good player on a team that has sucked for almost 3 years now and she's a rookie on top of that

Caitlin's turnovers are inflated because some of them are on her team mates for not catching her passes. Their timing is off since they aren't used to each other yet. The other thing is, I'm not sure what a foul is anymore since I started watching the WNBA. The refs let some hard fouls go (holding, grabbing, elbows, shoulders, etc) and then they will call touches. One person described it as prison ball, and I would have to agree with him. The refereeing needs fixing.

She’s being blitzed on PnRs and that’s how she has too many turnovers. The athletes in The W are the best in the world, not college athletes - bigger, taller, stronger, faster. CC is gonna be fine. When she gets used to that, we all will see her shine. She has great passing instincts. I saw a beautiful wraparound pass that led to an assist. She also forced some passes. I saw some plays where she forced the pass to the roller when the low-person and strong-side help was there, thus turnover. Once she realises “oh that one I can’t do here. This pass, I can’t still do.”, she’s gonna be fine. On one play in the preseason, Erica Wheeler executed a ram screen on Aliyah Boston which forced a switch because of that STS action directed by wheeler. CC made a beautiful pass to AB and she finished over a smaller defender. They need to run those more.

So many excuses in one paragraph, but I'll just address one. Assists is technically a team stat. If Caitlin is 4th in assists this means that only 3 other teams are handling assists better than Indiana. Stop blaming the team, the turnovers are hers.

I am new to watching the wnba. The thing that struck me first is the thuggery the refs allow on the court. After a few games I concluded that the wnba must play under a different set of rules, so I down-loaded their rulebook. There are a few differences in the rules, but nothing to account for the extreme hacking and pushing I was seeing. I am not talking about action in the low post. I was seeing players being run down and trampled with no whistle. I don't expect ref's to be perfect. I did some refereeing and saw how difficult it is. It is a hard job. But I am assuming that, as professionals, they are required to review and critique their work. Every referee (or at least most) wants to "let them play", but they also have a responsibility for fairness and player protection. There are remarkable players in the wnba, but the league will not reach its potential as long as it looks like "prison ball".

Elle, you're overestimating the W. This weekend was a lot of bad basketball and Caitlin's team was horrible! I went to several Fever games last year, the team played horribly and not much has changed, except they have a player who has the potential to score more regularly. Problem is, the other teams in the W know the Fever are a bad team and it's easy for them to press/double Caitlin and expose the bad play AND COACHING of the Fever! The Fever clearly weren't prepared to have her (Caitlin's) level of talent come in and play. They got the #1 pick 2 years in a row for a reason.

I've seen teams turn over the ball 20 times in one game and still win but your not winning when your slow in transition and you get ate up in the post and your not catching passes that you can't catch because your to slow or missing wide open layups when it matters. Look at allen Iverson rookie season I saw him turn over the ball 15 different times in one game and still win with the 76ers. The fever are trash. Caitlin clark is their saving grace but she's only a rookie so she's expected to make rookie mistakes.

ANNNNDDD Tuesday morning...The Fever showed what they were about last night. Caitlin Clark puts up another 17 point game. Her teammates finally kick it into high gear and they only lose by 2 to the top defensive team in the league. That's after battling horrible refs who put the Sun on the FT line twice as many times as the Fever. Yeah, CC is all that and more. I said it from the jump, CC needed to take control of this team and she did it these last two games. Now we are seeing the fire in the Fever! And the big heads need to stop talking like Caitlin Clark struggled the first 2 games. No, she was taken out of her position, stripped of her ability to create and placed in the corner as a 2 guard. No one else on that team has any business bringing down the basketball, because no one else on the Fever has the creative ability that CC has. That girl is a DAWG and she's going to make every other player on that team DAWGs too! AND THEY LOVE IT! So just stop with all of this BS about CC. She is showing that she will dominate at this level and bring her teammates up with her, just like she did at Iowa. DAWG!

We underestimated the hate of the vets and the broadcasters like on this video. Success in this “for profit” business is measured by entertainment value, merchandise, TV deals and butts in seats. Not championships if no ones watching. I see that it should not be easy for Caitlin or excuses made. But this league should know where the movement is coming from and it’s not from your existing players. She IS the one responsible for chartered flights and sold out arenas. That’s a fact. If nobody watches your championships you’re disrespecting yourself and not making the game interesting. She’s her own movement. You are disrespectful by calling her a moment and not a movement. The spotlight is not shared. This is equity not equality. Nobody watched these amazing players you think should share the spotlight. It’s.been proven by the viewership. Did Michael Jordan or Steph Curry have to “share” the spotlight to highlight how good their peers were because no one paid attention to them? Really? Stop trying to force the equality and build equity instead.. Caitlin will bring everyone up organically. You can’t force everyone to like everyone else as much as her. I think that’s what is called “thirsty.”

There is nothing that will bring out the actual competitiveness of a woman than to be envious of another woman getting more attention from others. WMBA has been subsidize by the NBA since its inception and has never turned a profit. You have someone new who has talent, doesn't do the whole girl boss anti male shtick, and has people actually tuning in, and spending money to see her and subsequently the rest of the Legue, and you're trying to take her out: players and female pundits. LMAO! Clark is the best thing to happen to that league in a while and should do what they can to promote her, bring more viewers and spenders into your league and make more money for all your players. Its a business after all! But I doubt they will, because all they know is to make controversy and try to undercut other women. Don't expect a debate, my time is more valuable lol

The fever need to permanently bench CC or cut her immediately. She can't score a point to save her life. She's done nothing to move the needle in the W. She's hurting the league and her team. Last year they were playing like a championship caliber team. CC"s done nothing to help with attendance, gate, tv ratings, ticket sales and prices etc. The fever need to build their team offense around Boston she's a scoring and defensive machine. The rest of her draft class all 3 rounds are already averaging 30 or 40 points a game. Over 10 assists each not to mention the blocked shots. Not to mention no turnover's that's why team's lose. Reese, brink etc are already playing like 10 year veteran players. 😉😉

From what I have seen thus far. No one has under estimated the rest of the league. These woman think they are better than they are. They are not that good as a whole. The WNBA overall is boring to watch. Maybe it’s the rules, I don’t know for sure, but I know for sure the referees call the game one sided. Maybe they are part of this whole woke BS they are trying to get the rest of the country to buy into. CC got two favorable foul calls in Monday nights game late in the second half and I think she only got those calls so that the referees would appear to be impartial. That is definitely not the case. They let Caitlin get mugged time after time and no call at all. And they have called her for a couple of fouls already this season in which she made clean blocks or contact with all ball. I am not dismissing that there is some talent but it’s not great talent across the board. And I’m willing to listen, but I think it could be the rules are different in the WNBA than in college and it makes for a very boring game. I don’t think the WNBA should try to be like the NBA. The men play totally different and have a different skill set than the women. The rules should be complementary to the women’s game. They should be set up in a way that makes the women’s game fun to watch. Again, I don’t have all the answers of what that is but someone should reevaluate where they are.

You don’t have to rig the league for her - but maybe don’t give her team the hardest schedule in the entire league and have teams guard her full court and double team her the entire game like it’s game 7 of the NBA finals. That’s all people are saying. Not that they need to go WWE and just let her dominate. People are gaslighting that it’s one extreme or the other. The other rookies are NOT getting guarded like that. I had league pass last year, I have it this year - so I am a fan, I am not gonna leave cause CC is struggling. Candice Parker had a physical advantage - CC isn’t bigger faster and stronger - her game is a skill and rhythm game - so it’s gonna take her time. There are people celebrating her struggling. Notice the NFL didn’t start Caleb Williams with the Ravens, 49ers back to back, then Ravens again - that’s literally what the WNBA made the Fever start off with. Also she just played a full college season and these super teams are rested and have played together for years. So it seems like no one wants to have a reasonable conversation about this topic. Either they are celebrating her struggling like people were waiting for her to fall on her face - or they are on the other side saying make it WWE. Both are wrong. 😑 There is some nuance processing that’s needed here. People are talking about capitalizing on business momentum - that’s not a basketball conversation. The WNBA is an entertainment company whose product is basketball. The NFL gets that about their sport. The NBA sometimes does. MLB and NHL are starting too but for a long time they have not operated this way. This is why the NFL is king - they get it. They are a reality tv show whose subject is football. Not a football company that also tries to entertain. So while we don’t need to be WWE - maybe not the hardest schedule in the entire WNBA??? Like middle ground??

They scheduled the games prior to the draft. The schedule is the schedule. You have unreasonable people on both sides: -One side says she's overrated (which she's not) -One side says she's allready the goat (which she's not) 4 games in you see the improvement and adjustments the team has made. She'll be fine and nothing needs to be changed.

This reporter missed the point entirely. Whether you like it or not, facts are facts. The reason the league has started off this well thus far is because of the hype and interest Caitlin has brought with her. She is your cash cow. No one cared about this league prior to her entry. She is your Magic Johnson and Bird. All professional sports leagues (that survive) need individuals to help sell it. Stop complaining and start appreciating the positive things that are happening. Anyone that cares about the WNBA at all and has half a brain cell should understand that this girl needs to do well in order for the league to thrive.
