@@et5216 At this point we don't actually know if all the people in hell are bad. The angels don't know what gets someone to heaven or hell. So, for all they know 80% of the "sinners" in hell could've been there for very petty reason or even self-defense. Based on this episode we can no longer say that everyone in hell is bad since we don't even know the rules of heaven and hell and what gets people sent to those places in this universe.

We also saw in helluva boss that the requirements to fall from heaven are borderline Draconian and beurocratic. Ends justify the means and neither nuance nor intention has any influence. And this then extends to the extermination, it doesn't break the rules despite how morally wrong it is and Sera clearly knows this but has also convinced herself through the system that it was necessary rather than deal with the reality of the situation.

What irks me about this while thing is there are so many angels there, probably all high ranking in the background...but they all just stay to be that...background. NOBODY speaks one word against one or another, nobody bats an eye about the extermination, nobody scolds Adam, nothing. ...Jesus was the one who ostensibly introduced the idea of eternal punishment and reward after death. The Old Testament only ever refers to Sheol (an afterlife described much like an eternal dreamless sleep) and Gehenna (a literal place you can actually go and visit in Judea that is often mistaken for a punishment afterlife by modern Christians). I'll fully acknowledge that Jesus was all for forgiveness and uplifting the sinner and downtrodden, but he rather clearly limited that to before the person died. To put it frankly, he'd be right along Sera, not happy about what Adam and Lute are doing but permitting it since the deceased already had their chance.
