I feel like the fragrance industry/ houses , trying to keep up with the demand of fragrances , are just running out of ideas, everything has been done. Also, I feel like a lot of people are pulling away from the high prices of niche perfumes. I mean, I don’t care how much of a budget you have , big or small, everyone is feeling the effects of inflation. I’m tired of watching expensive fragrance videos, while KZbin creators are gifted these fragrances for reviews , we’re not gifted those expensive fragrances, we’d have to buy them at $300-$400 at least , maybe mid $200 but even then, inflation is real with all incomes, I think fragrance companies are seeing people wake up from the delusional aspect of obtaining all these expensive fragrances. Most of us who watch KZbin are searching for more affordable options , it’s just not worth it anymore. Not to say we don’t want to indulge once in a while, just not to the point where we can’t do anything else. Instead of buying new expensive hyped fragrances, I’ve been buying backups of my favorite go to fragrances that aren’t hyped so they’re affordable still. Then, I can still shop for clothes and pay bills. It just makes sense 🤷🏻‍♀️ if you got it , that’s great. Even those that have the funds to keep up with the industry are feeling the pinch , though.

Queen of Silk is a lot of ambroxan for me, but really not the worst in the Creed line for ambroxan, Carmina and Wind Flowers are another level, the more modern ones, since Kerring took over are truly chock full of it. The tyre smell is probably the saffron, when it's done badly, that's what you get. I get it a lot in more affordable Middle Eastern fragrances. The drydown of Queen of Silk does get a lot better as it goes along, which is great, because it lasts forever. 😂 I used to like the original version of infusion d'iris but I hate the current version. It's not anything like the original.

I do like Carmina but I didn’t like Windflowers at all 🤭 Oh yes the drydown of QoS is so good ☺️ Oh wow never thought of that, maybe I have a newer formulation of the Prada! People always seemed to speak highly of it, so I was surprised that I didn’t get along with it! 🤷🏻‍♀️

I completely agree with you. I don't think it's just how many we smell. Normo not crazed fragrance buyers must have noticed how everything is blending into one blob of the same thing. I have been buying samples, and 5 ml decants. I'm not happy with much anymore either. I think I like something, then I don't. The ones I like and plan to get a full bottle of are Messy Sexy Just Rolled Out of Bed, Angels' Share, Divine Vanille, and Bianco Latte. I'm happy with my 150 plus samples to just smell or spray on a post-it note and smell it throughout the day. I have zero interest in having hundreds of bottles, but the samples give me the variety I like. Sometimes I like the scent, but I do I want to smell like that, not necessarily.

You know why peach's revenge has got hype? A load of PR. She doesn't normally go heavy on PR but this time I guess she made a more likeable fragrance and got some advice to go for it. So many of her other fragrances are good, but also super challenging to me.

Have you tried any cheap vintage perfumes? I'm not sure if you ever discussed it...like Charlie, Oscar etc...if you can get samples it would be an interesting comparison since I know you try a lot of expensive perfumes. I also want to thank you for getting samples instead of buying bottles. I do appreciate it so much instead of huge hauls and then declutters after a while bec tastes or opinions change, etc.

I think eventually, you smell thousands of perfumes, it is rare to smell something truly new and unique. Everything becomes referential and at least sort of smells like something else. Unfortunately for me, I loved Black Tie. So interesting to me you detect smoke in it. I just get vanillan and orris.
