Lack of understanding by the MTX TECH of the proper configuration of the flying machine can cause pilot anxiety at altitude. Good catch and love the start of this video!

As A&P too, I totally agree with you. ALWAYS DO THE RIGHT THING.

Repair stations are like law firms; You pay the top rate and get the associates and interns doing the work.

Well said. The average person will bring it to a repair station thinking they are getting a well trained, experienced tech, but in reality they are getting the person who is still in school or the newly licensed mechanic with a paper ticket still in his pocket. The scariest tech is the one that likes to walk around and quote the FAR’s but still can’t figure out which end of the wrench to hold.

You sir could not be more correct about the RTV and gasket goop. There’s very few applications that truly require anything to be applied to a gasket, ever. What you said applies to mechanics/techs in all repair fields, you need to be doing the work correctly and keeping in mind the customers safety and the trust they are putting in you when they bring their business to you. You deal with planes, myself with motorcycles but one simple mistake by either of us and we might have blood on our hands. I’ve always subscribed to the idea that I treat a customers vehicle as though it was mine, meaning if I needed this repair would I cut corners or skimp out? Sometimes there’s some grey area but in those cases I use the same rule and it’s seemed to serve me well over the last 20 or so years. Both in terms of customer trust and in turning out a quality, safe finished product that performs as good or better than the OE specified it to.

I agree with you, but also if the owner is hiring a mechanic that is subpar, and he knows he’s doing Jerry rigging. Then it’s his fault. But I understand your point because an a&p shouldn’t feel comfortable releasing an aircraft knowing people could be killed.

You just have to think about it's only job security if they're paying a premium price surely by the hour why not have them come back more often to get more money out of the customer
