Lucille Ball died about 6 months after this show was filmed. She's 77 years old here, about 11 years older than Betty and Carol. Betty and Lucy had been friends for 30 years since their TV shows were being filmed in the same studio. Carol Channing and Lucy had been friends since the mid-70's when both had had successful Broadway shows. They commonly supported each other at public events and they are clearly on this show just to look out for Lucy. The person ringing the buzzer didn't stand a chance!

I started reading an autobiography and I can't remember whose it was but Lucy was in it. I think it was Carmen McCrae's. My today's ecclectic dream girlfriend group starts w/Laura Bush(don't sleep on her- her own career, married a pres, raised them girls proper as she could, helped hubby straighten up & hung in there for the fun...grandkids😍 props regardless of pol) bc Lucy's gone. Tony Molatto you probably never herd of this series but it called golden palace, it a spin off of the golden girls and oh my lord it has me dead 😂. Cheech is also match against Sofia so between that and Betty having some gangster moments it pretty darn good. It on KZbin

Renee Lagrandeur Thank you so much for this! I totally forgot about this series! I live in China and am so excited to see some old school American T.V.! Because of your recommendation, we just watched the first episode again, I love Cheech and Sophia in the kitchen, so funny

Two amazing Hollywood legends that will be forever loved and never forgotten. RIP Lucille Ball and Betty White Ludden.

My great grandmother was Lucille's teacher in high school. According to her, Lucille was true to her brand in class, and there were little quirky/goofy moments that seemed like they'd be part of an I Love Lucy episode long before Lucille ever hit the spotlight. For example, Lucille dropped her pencil and it rolled a small distance from her desk. Rather than disrupt class by getting up from her seat to fetch it, she tried to discreetly get it by hooking her ankles and keeping her knees on her seat while stretching herself downward to the floor and as far as she could extend her reach to try and get it. Of course, this spectacle was NOT the discreet move she'd hoped it would be, and my great grandmother described turning around from the blackboard and looking at her students and seeing Lucille contorting herself nearly out of her desk and she said she'd never forget the expression on Lucille's face when she said "Lucille, are you alright?" because it was literally that trademark wide eyed look with the "o" mouth. Lucille Ball was never less than 100% genuine.

One of the few times I've seen Betty White look angry. We should all be so lucky to have a friend like her.

Betty White is so witty and smart! Probably why she’s lived so long! Doesn’t do anything stupid. Always wearing a smile! Her timing here is impeccable too!

I was born the day Lucille Ball died and even before I knew that she was my ideal and is the original Queen of comedy that will forever be her title.
