Related to people who address their anxiety and uncertainty with misinformation and passionate but problematic beliefs, I'm reminded of what Prof. Brian Cox said on the OFF MENU podcast about that: "I think there are two types of people. There's the one sort of person who really wants to know and actually then makes stuff up." Alternatively, scientists and others acknowledge some uncertainties. "If you do research, then the idea is you're excited by not knowing." Edelman's ongoing curiosity about humanity has something of a scientist's mindset about it.
