Ménière’s affects ever aspect of my life! ENT’s offer nothing, I haven’t had a drink in years, caffeine free everything and tasteless meals due to lack of salt/sodium. I’m experiencing attacks every two weeks! The dread that consumes me when I sense an attack is eminent, the hours of immobility, eyes closed unable to even listen to soothing music and then the long hours of recovery! I went on a Hawaiian vacation for a week and spent two days in my hotel room dealing with vertigo and it’s aftermath! Ménière’s is the absolute worst thing that has ever happened to me! I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy!

I’m helping a friend look for answers, who thinks he might have this. It started two nights ago. I saw one video on KZbin yesterday that talked about a simple vitamin-based solution to the problem which includes vitamin B one and vitamin B3. I’m only just learning about the subject, but I do know that hearing loss can often times also be affected by a deficiency of B12, which is a common deficiency amongst seniors. They consider those of us over 50 to be seniors. 😄 I hope you find relief for your symptoms without invasive procedures. 😊

@@dianastoevelaar9548 Thank you so much. Many friend offer advice but I have to explain to them I don’t have BPPV and of course they never heard of Ménière’s. I read about this guy who said he started using antivirals like the type used to control herpes flare ups, he claims he had not had an attack in four of the five months he’s been using, he said even his tinnitus stopped. I am seeing my physician next week to see if they can get me a prescription.

@@baddriversofcolga well actually I saw a video of a guy who said he started taking antivirals and his attacks went away. I thought I had nothing to lose so I spoke to my physician and they wrote me a prescription for Valtrex which is used to to control herpes outbreaks. I took one a day and after a few weeks I noticed my weekly attacks were growing less intense, they continued to grow weaker and after four months they stopped! I still feel the symptoms of when an attack is coming on but they never intensify. I’m sticking to my low sodium, caffeine & alcohol free diet but I feel just wonderful that this horror is no longer interrupting my life. I am planning to take my first vacation since I was diagnosed with Ménière’s three years ago! 😊

@@user-wi9qv3nf4w Thank you, I have an update on my condition. I saw a fellow Ménière’s sufferer who gave testimony of taking an antiviral which ended his attacks. I spoke to my physician and they wrote a prescription for Valacyclovir (Valtrex) a common antiviral used by those afflicted with genital herpes. I started taking it in May and by August my attacks weren’t as intense and were shorter, the frequency of attacks also ebbed and for the first time since my diagnosed in 2019 I have now gone seven weeks without an attack. I am still sticking to the low sodium, caffeine & alcohol free diet. I am finally feeling like my old self again!

I was diagnosed with Menieres….tried everything under the sun…nothing helped. Turned to Jesus of Nazareth for help…I am now symptom free. Also during vertigo attacks one thing that helped it pass was to try and stare gently at a fixed spot (perhaps on the wall). That’s helped previously. I am not a doctor but just wanted to share my experience strength and hope.

I'm pretty sure I have Menierre's Disease, I've seen 3 ENT's but none of them confirmed or denied that I have it. I was 26 years old at the time, it all began back in early February 2020, I went swimming at my local outdoor Swimming Pool, I ended up getting an ear infection, and despite getting to a doctor literally 2 days later and was on medication that cleared up my ear infection 3 days later, gradually I suffered Hearing Loss in both ears, however it was more profound in my right ear, now my hearing fluctuates pretty much daily in my right ear, one day decent, another day I'm near deaf, I wear Hearing Aids in both ears but a Hearing Aid doesn't always help because my hearing in my right ear fluctuates so regularly. I started getting Tinnitus, it started as just ringing in the right ear, but eventually it was a mix of ringing, humming, dripping & clicking sounds, it differs from week-to-week but a humming sound is the most consistent noise I deal with. The vertigo hit me hard during the first 4 months, I had 2 vertigo attacks, the first one hospitalized me for 3 days, the second vertigo attack I was taken to the hospital, but by the time I arrived at the hospital, the attack subsided. Anyway 2021 & 2022 wasn't too bad, the constant fluctuating Hearing Loss was the worst part, but there were quite a few times where my hearing was normal for a few weeks, a couple times my hearing was good for 2-3 months, my tinnitus was certainly annoying but eventually I just got used to it, and my vertigo was only really an issue if I bent down or moved my head too fast in any direction. However since December 2022, my hearing has fluctuated almost daily, my vertigo has gotten worse to where simply looking up hits me with a wave of lightheadedness, whenever my vertigo hit me in the past, lying in bed for 20 minutes would normally settle it down, but lately it feels like I'm going to fall out of bed, oh and I forgot to mention fullness in the ear, which I only ever experienced a couple times during those first 4 months back in February 2020, now it's back and I've been having it on and off daily for 2 weeks and it's a very uncomfortable feeling. I think I've covered everything, I'm not really sure what to do, I can't just live with this, hell I refuse to live with it, and NO I have no intention of doing something stupid, but I really could use some advice or options, but there doesn't appear to be many experts in this particular field over here in Australia.

My Menieres was so bad. Episodes lasted 10 + hours. Immediate vomiting, loss of bowel control, cannot move a muscle without making it worse. Almost total loss of hearing in left ear. Tinnitus that never ends. Valium, Antivert, nausea medication and pray for sleep is my only option. Upper Cervical Chiropractor helped more than anything else but I couldn’t drive to go back to him. Finally had gentimician injections that stopped it for a few months but it’s returning. The past week almost every day. Last resort is having my inner ear removed I guess. 30 years ago I had major maxiofacial surgery. All 4 jaws were broken. Upper jaws were moved narrower and backward. Lower jaws were moved forward and wider. I have since lost many of my teeth due to the surgical trauma. I feel so hopeless.

I do however live with 24/7 dizziness.. it's hard for people to understand what it's like to be dizzy 24/7. My hearing in that ear is withering away to nothing. It's been a long 4 years. For those considering Vestibular nerve section, it's 100% recommended. I no longer have the extreme 10+ hour meniere's attacks. But I'm also 90% of the time dizzy.

I have had vertigo and tinnitus for about 7 or 8 years now. I've not been officially diagnosed, but I have all the symptoms. Right ear fullness, deafness, whatever you want to call it, loud tinnitus on two different frequencies in both ears, clicking sounds almost constantly. I've had a number of severe drop attacks that put me out for about 3-4 hours each, with vomiting and sweating profusely, crawling to the bathroom on the floor to throw up. But haven't had one of those for a long time. The first drop attack I had was while I was driving on the highway. I managed to get home but it was touch and go, and when I parked I had to hold the wall to keep myself from falling down, everything was spinning. I was so scared I didn't know what was happening to me. When I got in I just dropped everything and went to bed, without taking my jacket or shoes off and slept for 4 hours. The other few times luckily I was already at home so it was just in and out of the bathroom, but debilitating nonetheless. Sometimes the tinnitus and ear fullness lasts for weeks on end, and then it will clear up for 3 or 4 months and then come back. As I write this, it's back and I have a little vertigo now but nothing too serious. Burping, yawning and coughing make me temporarily dizzy. I've been to chiropractors, seen ENTs, and they could find nothing wrong. My doctor has me on betahistine, and I take 2 of those 24 mg twice a day, and I wear a mouth guard nightly. I'm 58 years old and I have thought of suicide before, it's really difficult to say that publicly like this, but I'm not sure how I can live with this until I die naturally. I've cut out the salt and the caffeine (I don't smoke or drink), and although I think that's ok, everything I eat is so bland. I've taken to buying seasoning and sauces with no sodium and decaffeinated or caffeine free drinks like natural teas. It's helping but my symptoms are not gone, just feeling less worse off than I was. I can't tilt my head all the way back, that triggers the vertigo, going to the dentist is a nightmare. I have to sleep propped up on pillows and that's hard to do. I have no problems falling asleep or sleeping and I don't have any jaw "pain" per se, and had maxillofacial surgery about 35 years ago where they brought my bottom jaw forward. My bite (I think) is ok, but maybe I'm just used to an irregular bite. Do you have any contacts in the Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada) area I can look up?

So I'm now undergoing some testing to see if I indeed have it (which seems to be the case given the symptoms; tinnitus, vertigo, ear fullness). Do you know of any DTR doctors in Connecticut? I've been diagnosed with Menier's disease for a few years now, I am 34. I feel nascious, get vertigo attacks, have been visiting two doctors and both treat Menier's with Betahistin, Hydrochlorothiazid and Cinarizin (pills, pills and pills to reduce the amount of water in my body and decrease heartbeat, even though I am not a cardiac). My MRI was negative, clean spine, no tumors, nothing, thank God. Have not been drinking, smoking, eating salt for months now. I still have the same sympthoms - feeling like standing on a boat or right-side-spinning while having pulsitile tinnitus and it is getting progressively worse which sucks. Tinnitus changes based on changing my body or head position. When I bend over, tinnitus gets more intense. And occassionaly there is sound sensitivity. I visited a physiotherapist, have been working out in the gym, getting 8-10 hours of sleep, and yet I still feel tired in the afternoon. From my blood work I have a higher level of lipids. (6'9, 290lbs.) I can see, when opening my jaw, it goes left side first then the right side, it is like half-an-inch late. My ORL doctors told me many times I need to just get used to having Menier's disease. What the hell can I do that I have not tried, yet ? PLEASE, SOMEBODY HELP ME

The title is misleading unfortunately. I mean, for people who are misdiagnosed, you're doing something fantastic. But it gives false hope to people who definitely have the inner ear disease and not just similar symptoms. have had Menieres for a couple of decades now, since I was a kid. I'm happy you are helping people who are misdiagnosed. But those of us who have Menieres disease need a cure and this could be false hope. Nothing works for me - diuretics, Serc/betahistine, etc, nothing. Only gravol (dramamine) during acute attacks and antidepressants (basically it's a depressing disease to have) have really helped.
@DrBenSutterEugene
@DrBenSutterEugene 6 ай бұрын
I appreciate your comments. All of these people, and at this point there is over 86 in a row diagnosed with Meniere's Disease have had improvement or relief from symptoms. Meniere's has become a catch all diagnosis for Vertigo of unknown origin, and the diagnosis is from clinical presentation of symptoms and nothing else. All of these diagnoses came from ENTs, that used an MRI to rule out auditory neuroma, before they got the diagnosis. Another way to think about this is to flip a coin and ask what is the probability of getting heads (or tails) 86 times in a row? If there was a diagnosis that did not respond to occlusal therapy there would be 2 groups, 1 group where TMD therapy worked, and 1 group where it didn't because it was a truly inner ear issue. That is not what has been observed. I put these video out so people can be there own advocate in finding a solution. I hope you find yours! Best to you.
@Interstellar_Traveler
@Interstellar_Traveler 6 ай бұрын
@@DrBenSutterEugene Yes exactly, I really don't want to downplay the good you are doing as Menieres has been a catch-all term for far too long and it hurts us all. And thank you, I developed bilateral Menieres disease as a child and have had it for 20 years now. A specialist and surgery (and ruling out all other possibilities) confirmed it was textbook bilateral Meniere's Disease. Life is exhausting but I am glad there are people out there who care about this illness and that you are helping rule out alternative diagnoses for these patients. Many doctors I have met don't even know what Meniere's Disease is. I apologize if my previous comment seemed hostile, I realize tone on the Internet doesn't always get across. All the best.

I am the patient. My name is Troy. He is using a tool to measure how my bite bites. It measures where you are biting how your much pressure, how central you bite is. In my case my bite was all on the right side. You can see it in video with the bars going up and down. My whole bite was on the right. And guess what all my symptoms were in my right ear. He is a savant on studying your bike and how to correct it, so it works properly.
