Mary is such a good character, even her flaws are endearing. She grew up in a bigoted time/era, and retains the stereotypical outlook, but she's so sweet for asking about their religious restrictions with food or praying. Everyone needs a mom like her, caring but also mildly embarrassing.

Strangely enough, what Mary does to try and lure him out works. She gives him enough space and time to decide for himself if he wants to join the group. By making everyone not pay attention to him when he re-enters, social interaction isn't forced upon him. Howard talking to him would have just made it an obligation rather than his choice. Leonard being an ass and confronting him directly forces the issue and causes him to retreat. She's not that bad at interacting with someone like Sheldon. For reference, I have social anxiety and probably have high-functioning autism while my brother behaves exactly like Sheldon.

How many would be down for a spin-off called The Hofstadters? Leonard & Penny w/kids...how cool would that be?
@JL-sm6cg4 жыл бұрын
I'm wondering if a new spinoff with Sheldon and Amy as parents would work.
@gregbaker37014 жыл бұрын
Jonathan Lentz it could but I don’t think Jim Parsons wants to, but I’m pretty sure the other cast members would go for it.

@JL-sm6cg4 жыл бұрын
@@gregbaker3701 Parsons would have to decide to do it again after a while. It could be about them having kids who aren't as smart as the two of them. Kind of the opposite of the one sitcom recently about the not-so-smart parents with geniuses as kids.

Jonathan Lentz that’s what I was thinking.

Leonard's mistake was that he didn't receive the memo about Sheldon having a completely different character for the purposes of that scene

Seen it a million times over the years yet it still cracks me up, especially if its been a while. Shh youll spook him, its not a big deal, you gotta let him come to you lol Like sheldons a nervous stray dog or something
@pattym91822 жыл бұрын
Well...while a nervous, stray dog isn't a totally inaccurate comparison, she didn't say it's not a big deal in that quote. She said it's like a baby deer, and between freezing & turning around while they're all watching him and then running away when Leonard aggressively confronted him, that is EXACTLY how deer (of ALL ages) act when they sense other people in their vicinity. For the record - I've never hunted, I just grew up across the street from a nice woodsy area and would go hiking with my brother and/or neighborhood friends ALL the time. I couldn't have laughed harder at this scene, even if I tried.

Its funny how Sheldon mother and Howard mother were both like moms to the whole gang. Leonard mom isnt like that with the others she is more heartless and not so nurturing which is why he has issues which is really sad to say the least.
