Wonderful points about being mindful... stepping outside ourselves to see people and the world objectively so we can understand and connect with others. If we are lucky, we can bring them along this journey of learning and existing more comfortably together.

Super insightful talk! It's great advice to take a step back and consider what you don't know in a given situation. It's way too easy/natural to conjure a story to explain away problems, challenges, the behavior of others, etc. Allowing yourself to indulge in a false sense of certainty indeed can lead to misunderstanding, miscommunication and missed opportunities! Tough to remember when you're in the thick of it, but so critical to living a healthy and mindful life! Thank you for the great content, Keren!

You don’t know what you don’t know, that’s true. In your story her husband left her and that translated into a positive message. The opposite can also be true where in a situation where you are positive and made certain decisions based on that but the positive ness was not warranted. Then that decision was in fact an incorrect decision.
@paddydiddles44154 жыл бұрын
Yes, but if we know certain truths, which are logically incompatible with the hypothetical unknowns, then this is sufficient to exclude the unknowns. The argument that ‘you don’t know what you don’t know’ doesn’t stand up if they can be logically discounted

Dear Sir, D-K indeed would have been very ironic as it is in itself a form of cognitive bias AND the total opposite of the whole point conveyed in this talk. I made that statement - as many others - as a joke - and one that made the audience laugh, though it was not audible. I am sorry this did not land, and so appreciate your taking the time to watch and to comment. No matter, I hope you appreciate my taking the time to reply to you, too. I wish you all the best.
