At some point they just get the food for me and get mad that I didn't get it myself, which... I can do nothing about. I just don't eat at all. Unless I know I'm allowed and nobody is around to ask. I got suspended because in my school, if you use the bathroom too many times in an amount of time, you got suspended because you were a suspect of smoking/drinking. My teacher, for the 50000 time, asked, why I didn't go at home. I snapped and explained to her in a serious but angry voice with out raising it, "I go to sleep at 10pm, get 8 hours of sleep, wake up at 6:00 am, I live an hour away, school starts at 8, take a I 30 minute shower, eat breakfast for 5 minutes, grab all my shit that only gets used twice a year but you make us carry it around because you won't tell us when we'll need it and we all have anxiety so we bring it in fear of needing it and not having it, drive 2 hours. Get the stupid unexcused late pass, arrive at 8:10, then need to use the restroom because school says get 8 hours of sleep, get here at 8am, do these 5 packets of homework and don't get late, even if you live an hour away, so I don't have the time to deal with your shit right now." When I arrived to the office with a referral with my name on it, I was told, well, go to sleep earlier, wake up earlier, have time to do your stuff. My reply, I would but I have 5 Packets of homework and a 6 slide volcano presentation due tomorrow, give me more time and I'll go to sleep earlier.

When I was in elementary and middle school I was the “gifted kid” people called me a genius because of how good I was at absorbing knowledge. I was taught not to talk to the “dumb” kids and to hang out with other “gifted” kids. As soon as I got to high school I got hit by reality. I was overly confident and expected AP and honors classes to be easy for me. I couldn’t handle having to study because it made me feel dumb. I refused to study because it hurt my ego so my grades got lower. My friend who was smart but had a speech impediment was not “gifted” and was given special classes to suit her needs. In high school she took honors classes in subjects she was confident in but didn’t cram it down her throat. Now that we’re older she is happy and put together, while I’m mentally ill and lack social skills because of my identity from a young age being one of the “smart” kids.

You're telling me that I DIDN'T have to mindlessly "learn" about things I'm not interested in, and that it's bad to be in a place that is mentally, physically, and emotionally draining for over 8 hours a day? Who would have thought that forcing children to strip away creativity from their mind, and punishing finding ways to learn that can help young students learn more effectively is BAD for impressionable youth? This video is like the most true thing I have ever watched. I learned more from this 20 minute video, that I would spending a week at an 8 hour-a-day classes.

I feel like bullying is sometimes developed in high school because we are bored and there’s a lack of drama. Sad to say I have contributed to this because I was in the mean girl friend group my freshman year and then when I seen what it did to people, it started to bother me. I tried to stop being like the other girls in my friend group and then they started talking about me. I got tired of the drama being pointed at me, so I left the friend group and called them out in person and on Snapchat. I haven’t talked to them since.

I went to a Sudbury school from when I was 4 to when I was 11 and it was a great experience the only problem is that there were literally no classes I could even choose to join so it wasn’t really possible for me to learn things I was interested in, also I think some education should be mandatory like at least basic math and reading because most of the kids I met in school didn’t even know how to read. I’m now in 6th grade and I’m going to a charter school which is a little more strict than the schools you were talking about but I still really like it, and I don’t really know how different it is from normal school because I’ve never been to a normal school.
@xgr86483 жыл бұрын
Instead of being forced to sit and stay and learn stuff your not interested in, you should have a time frame where you learn basics (like around first and second) then you should get a list of what is being taught then you just head to a class and sign in and sign out when you enter and leave, that way you can watch the children and comply with laws but still teach kids what they want to learn. Please expand on my idea if you want, it is not a great idea though. I can't remember much of my year in public school but from what I can remember I was bullied and my school turned a blind eye because "they have no proof" except some bruises on my arms, they would notify everyone the day before a field trip, if you were not done with the work at the time you would be moved to one of the next grade classrooms while the rest of the class got a break. I was moved out of the class half way through the day for a "brain break" with a couple other kids and they never had a set time expect it was always during when they were giving instruction. The year before I was at the kindergarten at Weber state University, so I had I different mind set then what they wanted. I also remember being told I could not put a punctuation right after and, and other things like you should put a blank line between paragraphs. Sorry if this is hard to read, I kinda started rambling on.

My mother, all through my childhood, treated me and my older sibling as an equal to her. She trusted us profusely, until she found a reason not to. When I first went into middle school, I immediately noticed the difference in how I was treated. Some of the people there made me feel like I was a bad kid, even though I was probably one of the most innocent, people pleaser there. My mom later told me that the reason she treated us like adults is because when she was younger, she remembers feeling lesser than all the adults in her life. She once told me that kids rise to the standards you set them up for. If you assume they are terrible people right off the bat and treat them so, they have nothing to lose by acting the way you assumed they would. If you put your trust and faith in them, they work to keep that because it feels good to be treated like that. Anyway, I'm done ranting now. 😁

@or61695 жыл бұрын
@@gwendalynn_alvarado but if both your parents work, then does that mean that they wouldn't have time to homeschool you? Unless it's only maybe 2 or 3 hours a day, then it just wouldn't make sense for them. That's probably the main reason. And you'll still be able to interact with people as long as you make an effort to meet new people. But I rarely talk to anyone but my mum and I'm fine with that. I don't need people to keep me happy. It's probably different for you, but I'm just saying that just because you're homeschooled doesn't mean you're completely cut off from society

School logic: if you miss your detention, you get a longer detention. if you don't go to school, you get expelled. if you don't make progress, you're doing badly. if you can't reflect using a "grade yourself out of 10 then write a what went well and even better if", you're not trying/you don't care about your education. You learn topics multiple times. We did alkali metals and halogens in year 7, 8 and 9 in the same amount of detail.

I was told by by my teacher, that if I miss classwork it homework, lose it, or turn it in late, that it will not be accepted! 😂🤷 What the f dude?! I'm flunking English because of her dumb logic. I've never gotten detention, but a friend of mine skipped hers, and got an extra week. 😂 If you turn something in late, you get ten points off, fir how many days late it is. Even if you got everything right, and did the extra credit! 😂🤷 We've learned the same things in English and Science for three years in a row! 😂🤷 I HATE THE SCHOOL SYSTEM. If anything THEY'RE the ones holding us back, and keeping us from getting a good job. I mean, JUST👏 LOOK👏 AT👏 THE👏 STATISTICS! 👏

I hate it I just think the teachers are racist, ohh yeah I went to a shop to buy some snacks when school ended and then got seen by a very not nice teacher and I got nearly band from the bus because I went to a shop and back to my bus that is just taking my right away 'moving freely' well I can't move 10 meters and back to my bus bcoz the teacher which is an assisantant of the head teacher nearly band from a transport that gets me safely home and got me nearly detension from him coz he is a very racist person

I feel the exact same way, ever since I started homeschooling, I have grown on many other talents such as electronic music, graphic design, video creation, and finding myself. In public school there's not really a way to find yourself other than being told what you are or what you should be. In short, I used to be suicidally depressed from the persecution I got for trying to be myself, but now can be myself and expand on myself without worrying about persecution.

I’ve learned way more out of school than in school. I’ve also discovered that I get very happy when I get sick because it means I don’t have to go to school. When the pandemic hit, I was absolutely thrilled, because it meant I didn’t need to go to school. Clearly, if people are happier out of school than in, there is something wrong with the school systems.

School really tears children’s creativity into a million pieces. I remember when I was in 5th Grade, our art teacher was an absolute asshole. She would NEVER let us draw something WE wanted to draw. She had favorite students and CLEARLY showed us that she favored them. I accidentally had written that I was in 4th in my Sketch book (since we had recently joined 5th Grade) and she HUMILIATED me infront of EVERYONE. And see, I was a shy, awkward and sensitive little kid, so I was about to cry. I hated her, not because she humiliated me in front of everyone, no no, because she made me HATE art. Even though I was a fairly good artist, she made me hate art. She made me so insecure about my art. And do ya want another teacher who was ALSO an a**hole? Well let me tell you about our Music teacher. He told us, and I quote, ‘Fake name of a girl sings beautifully! She is my favorite student. She sings MUCH better than all of you’. I remember I always told that teacher to give me a chance to sing, but NOPE. And honestly, he didn’t make me hate music. But he still was an asshole.

both my fifth grade teachers were assholes (i was in a language immersion school so there were two teachers)one of them had favorites and had no patience whatsoever and frequently yelled at us, while the other would humiliate you in front of the class if you ever did something wrong or wasnt listening and he too would yell at us a lot.
