You don't need Amazon Kindle Whispersync if you have this!

Been watching the channel for some time and it's been invaluable. I'm waiting for a new Kobo to arrive and hope to put Koreader on it referring to your video. Does Koreaders file manager allow access to files on a USB drive attached to the Kobo or does the Kobo not support OTG? Thanks

I have never tried that on a Kobo but according the forums I follow they say that Kobo has support for OTG so it should work. But if you will run koreader then I recommend using wireless transfer from a calibre library instead.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes that's a good option. Just thought carrying a USB drive with epubs then direct access on Kobo would save having to take a laptop with me when I go on holiday. I'll check to see if it can be done when my Kobo arrives and feedback to the channel as it may be useful for someone.

Yes do so. I do that on my Android based e+readers as you probably have seen videos about. I have a ssd and connect it to my e-readers. You can also transfer all your books to your Kobo before going on vacation.

Just found your channel, fellow swede here. Did you get the palma 2 early because of your channel? Also, regarding kindle I feel a game changer is the "immersive reading" mode or whatever they call it when you can read and listen at the same time and it will highlight the words as they are being read. I get unfocused fast, and cannot just listen for long periods of time, and sometimes I cannot read either without loosing the flow. I have read 14+ books these last 2 months with the help of the kindle app and it has changed my life in no small way. Does storytel do this or is it just the "whispersync" part of this that it does the same; apart from also being subscription based?

I have the Palma 1 and I bought it as I’ve done with all my e-readers. And no Storytel doesn’t support text to speech. You can do that with ebooks in other apps though. Neo reader that comes with onyx Boox e-readers for example.

Brilliant - thanks! How much does a Storeytel account cost? Available worldwide (also in Russia, for example)? And which device would you recommend as an alternative to Kindle - one with a frontlight and a high-contrast display? Also interested in whether StoryTel offers package prices for both the eBook and the audiobook.

It depends on which subscription you choose. Standard gives you 20 hours a month, premium 100 hours a month and ultimate is unlimited. So price starts at 99 SKR. They removed support for Russia when the war started. Onyx Boox Go 6, Onyx Boox Page, Onyx Boox Go Color is all great Kindle alternatives. I am not sure what you mean with packade? With a subscription you always get both audiobook and ebook streaming. 1 million books.

@scottbecker3485 yes that is correct. You can only read or listen to the books with a subscription. But if you think about it, you don’t have access to your Amazon books either if you don’t have an Amazon account.
