Maybe unrelated, but a painful thing to learn is that the importance of someone's work to themselves is likely what's holding them back from making anything. Not in the sense it shouldn't be taken seriously, but that so much of one's value can be wrapped up in it that it becomes paralyzing, like phenomenon of cancer patients sometimes deliberately avoiding their medicine; there's just too much weight on it in the brain. And art is medicine in a way, for The Poison. Given that art is typically an action you can only really improve at by trial and error, and quantifiable progress is erratic at best and invisible at worst, it's a real bitch of an Achilles Paradox to be caught up in. Thankfully detachment comes with the flow state, once you can step around your own head and let yourself have fun climbing around. It's like working out or eating good food. Two other activities creatives are notoriously good at keeping up with. Long comment but hey good videos! You've nailed it. Personally I only started writing more when I stopped taking it so seriously, and then my writing of itself became more serious (at least in being worth reading). The work isn't You. It isn't even supposed to be you, it stands for itself. Hell even when you're making decent art you find your "self" almost disappearing and some weird channeling thing starts happening. Which is actually a buzz in itself and quite addictive, so looking at it this way is far more productive.

I finally started creating when i said "fuck it i dont care if i make mistakes". Same thing happened with exercising. After years and years of watching/reading workout content, i finally started when i didnt care about how to do it right. Little bit of doing something is still something and it'll make you more inspired/motivated to do more. Learning to care less is the difficult part.
