i love these kinds of videos because there are many things in the creative process that are common, but aren't talked about much for some reason. so stuff like this is interesting and almost fun to hear in its reliability. :)

Ah damn. I was mired in indecision earlier and thought "what if I decided to create every idea I have before I die". I hadn't even thought about how the process yields more ideas. Damnit.

Fuck this is relatable for me. I have that same exact note section except its the default notes app so there’s shit just BURIED. The perfectionistic way i pick apart and mold the countless variations on diff ideas makes all the supposedly significant conceptual alterations feel… arbitrary, and i can never decide on a concrete approach toward the same meaning in my art cuz it all seems equally good or bad and its too much at that point to synthesize. There’s too many layers too many branches too many discrepancies and its like which path do i take?! Does it even matter? It has to right? Thank you for the advice, genuinely. I am definitely your intended audience.

Creative constraints ,for me this is the only solution. everything you talked about is sooo relatable that's why at least for me constraints are the best, they let you focus, even tho I have a lot of ideas I put most of them away and come back when the time is right. for example, I try to make videos with a similar topic, style or anything that's unifying for at least a couple of months and then I can start to deviate to a different topic, because I used to make whatever and it had no cohesion. So constraints for art are amazing 99% of the time

I used to upload minecraft redstone videos, and I literally just completely ran out of ideas. Near the end of when I was uploading videos I was spending like 8 hours a day for two whole weeks reading through the minecraft code just to find SOMETHING that hadn't been done before, and I just burned out on that process.

while loving the cheeky refer to the fetishitic nature of your display of ideas at 1:47 i would suggest the only thing wrong/dangerous with it is that it squeezes the idea dry of motivational juice for it. Lets be a little bit more hedonistic with it shall we ? Its absolutely fine to mentaly jerk it with ones peers as long as you are still able to manifest that which got already drained. Dont loooose yourself in harvesting these crops and throwing them away in this conceptional manner. Thats what i did way to often. One of the greatest driving forces of ideas in my opinion is the showing of them. To take this away in an non constructing process can be harmfull to the concept of the idea coming into this world in the first place. If this is not your concern however and this is ALREADY the final form you envisioned this idea to have then go for it. And go for it proudly. Tell us all about it !

i'm in the opposite situation: i only managed to come up with a single novel idea, which is deeply flawed and probably not worth making, and i'm building the thing because i'm failing to come up with any better idea (and in my situation i need to build *something*) ...this is probably still better than having tons of ideas and not doing anything though, i guess

Honestly I admire your dedication here. I started a project on TikTok that I was so excited about, and I have so many ideas about where to take it, but I just can’t seem to find the motivation to film the next video - out of fear, I think, that I won’t be able to execute this next step properly. You don’t seem afraid to just put your art out there. That’s such an important thing.

The framework of not being normal therefore not desirable will only perpetuate suffering and intensify anxiety in social situations. Most people aren’t normal and are just trying to live up to the propaganda of the collective. Therefore the only solution is sincerity and vulnerability. The moment i realized the spider was more terrified of me i was no longer afraid of the spider. . Mostly. Embrace neuroticdiveristy.

@Aeiouaaaaaaaaa
@Aeiouaaaaaaaaa Жыл бұрын
Agreed on the deadline thing, I really wish I were the type of person for whom deadlines actually meant something. I do still give myself deadlines for my projects but always miss them by a mile because I know they’re completely arbitrary. Nothing happens if I miss them because whatever external consequences that come from meeting or missing that due date is still coming from me. It’s frustrating since almost everything I do creatively is self driven and flexible, but at the same time do need to get done eventually (because portfolios need to have projects in them), and that combination of not having real deadlines but still having a soft time limit is maddening sometimes

I saw the title and was like "yeah" about myself. 1600 notes? Try 2818 voice memos, and 5TB of data, mostly OBS recordings, iPhone camera recordings and such over 5 years. Good fucking luck going through that. You don't. You just start new shit and then occasionally go back into the old stuff. Bill Wurtz has this massive fucking catalogue of just endless trillion ideas and simply picks and chooses, sometimes even at random with a random number generator if he can't force himself to pick. Unfortunately there is only so much time. And then there's also the part where sometimes you just gotta remember that being creative is actually not required and no one cares except you and maybe some others who you'll probably never meet so just make some bullshit and don't think about it too hard. because then you'll end up making WAY MORE that you're proud of than if you take a year to make one webseries that 5 people will watch. I'm being self-critical here as well.
