Such a timely video. Been honestly difficult to define my own subjective success! But baby steps, we getting there :) Thanks Dargo! And sick editing/visual analogies- makes me really not want to fall into the trap of working towards John's goals 😰

Honestly I think people that care about hustle culture are those that arent working hard. Nothing wrong with each living their own lives, but who's to tell another person how much they should work? How much is 'less' work - thats all subjective. Just my 2cents.
@Dargoyaki2 жыл бұрын
I guess it's whether they perpetuate hustle culture onto other people. I think it's fine being into this whole lifestyle and whatever as long as you know what you're doing. You do you. I'm more concerned for those that get sucked into this lifestyle without having a clear direction of what they are even doing, just doing it for the sake of glory and telling others that they are 'working hard'. Even worse so, if like you mentioned, they perpetuate this lifestyle onto other people and make others feel like they aren't doing enough.

Thanks so much for this reminder. It's good to take a step and start noticing what I'm getting myself into😂. Great work on the video!

you may not realise but a lot of ideas you endorse are similar to that in positive psychology - preventing social comparison, positive reframing, flow, mindfulness, etc. I think you have quite a talent in understanding the human Psykhe honestly :) this has been very inspiring!
@Dargoyaki2 жыл бұрын
I am familiar with some basics about mindfulness and whatnot, but the rest are new concepts to me. Would love to know the actual theory that goes on behind what I say HAHA, no idea that these are actually things that are in positive psychology; Lemme know if you have sources to share where I could learn all of this :)

God tier content as usual. Try not to compare with others and always strive to become a better version of yourself. Comparing yourself with others is a endless shithole cycle that brings no benefit except make u sad.

Thanks for this reminder, sometimes I feel ashamed bringing up my despair and self guilt-trips to my friends as I started to overthink too much shit. Indeed you may be right, there is nothing wrong with living a normal life. My parents lived a normal life. I dont need to be extraodinary to live my life. As long as I am happy that's it. Lack of Money seems to bring about unhappiness. But sometimes the pursuit of money brings about unhappiness. Its a double edged sword. I think finding our simple ikigai and own definition of gratification is most important. And living a balanced life can have its harmonic rythm too

I agree with this.. we are too affected by the well-curated instastories + material achievements that our friends/ influencers that are posting on social media
@Dargoyaki2 жыл бұрын
@@zavli you'll need to have a constant awareness that what people post on social media are literally just highlights of their life because the majority of people are unlikely to post an instastory of them doing the mundane

Donno anything about video editing but I feel you could be a counselor or something. About this hustle thing, on one's deathbed, no one will ever lament not putting in an extra hour or two in the office. Work is merely a means to an end, not the end itself.

Can't deny how true this should be! Agree that everyone has different goals and directions and life's a marathon not a sprint, so you set your own record :) I like how you promote about having a simple life is something to be proud of even if it's perceived as "less successful" to others. But going to the point on why generally people don't succeed in hustling, do you think it's because they don't have as much resolve as those deep hustlers or is it more of how we are easily distracted nowadays and we're constantly changing our goals now and then?

Many factors: lack of patience, lack of luck, changing views on success, lack of consistency...

Extrinsic motivation can only bring you so far, and even if you have intrinsic motivation, if it's not balanced with a practical mind that knows when to be realistic, no amount of intrinsic motivation can save that if it starts to crumble... Also, some people just aren't lucky enough in their hustle to see any returns. Just my thoughts :p
