The safer way would be to Fireball frostbolt his face and next turn ping firelands. Because you wouldnt give him a minion to heal from. Of course the Warlock failed hard and didn't heal off of the minion, but oh well.

he didn't need to pop it with the hero power, he just needed to actually deal damage with the hero power. he should have just hero powered the minion so it would deal damage. i thought he played pretty well considering the matchup though, like keeping a space on his board open in case he drew a healing minion or even a dread infernal in the event that mage runs out of blocks but has a nova or blizzard. could be argued that he should have held onto the abyssal enforcers for the same reason, or just to save himself life, but putting those minions on the board changes the clock by a factor of turns, which is all that matters against freeze mage. giving them extra turns means giving them extra mana to cast burn spells, extra draw steps to find burn or stall cards, and so on. it's hard to know exactly whether the abyssal enforcer speeds up your clock more than it speeds up his clock. it's pretty much a function of the cards he draws and the order he draws them in, so it's totally unpredictable. the 6 attack minion can deal way more total damage than its one-time 3 damage battlecry so off the bat the math is slanted in its favor, it's just whether the mage can stop it from ever attacking. maybe it looks weird to play the enforcers damaging your own board, but having a big, healthy board is not the end goal, it's just a means to the end of breaking the opponent's ice blocks and killing him. so all that really matters is "does this give me lethal a turn sooner" or "does this slow my opponent's lethal down by a turn." and when you're dealing with a deck with board wide freezes and you're curving into the death knight, direct, one-time, but guaranteed damage is especially better than minions, a repetitive but not guaranteed source of damage. i can't say for sure that the "suicide" strategy increased his chances of winning but it's definitely something i've seen successful players do, and unsuccessful players avoid

Ice block prevents lethal damage. The damage is outright ignored, so Lifesteal can't proc. Works the same way with Divine Shield.

Yeah i would have figured at least 1 damage was dealt.. to make the ice block proc.. which would have put him at 11.. but it ignored all of it.. so the warlock should have pinged one of his own minions to deal the damage and get the heal.. then he would have won popping block with another minion.. and been down to 1 or so for the win.. wow.. kinda glad i saw this today!

Yeah, and instead they'll get a card like; "When your hero is attacked, prevent all damage to your hero for the rest of the turn" secret instead. Ice Block is fine, as you can play around it and counter it.
