Nothing to do with physical tells. Garret literally verbalized parts of his thinking process. Doesn't think Jon is ripping it in for that amount enough of the time as a bluff. Gmans been open with that hes been working a lot on his game off the tables. Garret is uncapped in having lower boats which are likely to always call. From a theory perspective Jon can overbet as big as he wants river with all nutted boats. In short, Gman likely views Jon as not capable of ripping for that size based on the previous action in hand for a bluff enough % of the time to call off here with trips. He has lower boats he can still call before calling this hand which legit only beats a pure bluff.

You need to balance your range here for when you have bluffs. What do you do with: KJs, JTs, 78s, KTs, If you’re exploiting properly, you should also have AQ+ for value, as well as your sets and trips (not many combos of trips anyway). Sure, for this exact hand, it wasn’t great because he probably isn’t jamming the correct frequency and Garrett realized that, therefor could make a massive lay down knowing that he never does this at a frequency that would exploit him.

To be honest there ain't many bluffs in Jon's spot. If he had a combo draw, he would not raise the turn in position facing a bet from the check raiser on the flop. If Garrett had a real hand he could 3bet the turn and blow him off his draw. The flat flop raise turn overshove river line is just so strong. trip 6s at that spot is merely a bluff catcher as Jon would never play AA KK AQ this way, at least not for that sizing.
@andrewfraancis

He’ll be mixed but Garrett bet turn small so Jon is supposed to raise a bit wide likely at least 13% here to stop Garrett just block betting hands that don’t want to see a bet
@chelseafanfromasia
@chelseafanfromasia 3 жыл бұрын
@@andrewfraancis That is true, but what hands will Jon realistically do that with? If he had a marginal value hand he would be very unlikely to overshove the river. If he had a big draw, there must be a high chance he won't risk getting 3bet on the turn. It all boils down to whether Garrett believe Jon would be capable of playing a big draw(and missed) this way, which is very unlikely.

JJ is a fantastic hand to 4bet fold pre (to a 5 bet knowing your opponent has QQ+, AK). In this particular case, it would've knocked 43s out preflop and got Jon to call but be on the backfoot, exactly what you want. In the second hand too, top set is a great hand to 3bet on the flop and knock out weak draws. A9 folds and 63s calls reluctantly. Put in a hefty turn cbet and 63s is out. Yes, balance and trapping is required at those stakes but when aggro players who can bluff off their stacks are in the hand, it's so much more useful to fire big with monsters, not give up the betting lead and make playing later streets easier for yourself and tougher for others.

I admire Garrett's style of play, he is not afraid to call big raises with any 2 questionable card holdings, holdings that I would certainly not call with, like his call here with 63 spades, highly questionable call right from the outset. But here we are talking about Garrett, one of the few players that could make this hand stick. However, the problem here is of his own making and that is because of his wide range in calling with any hand he chooses to make a call with. Having a range that is this far out is asking for trouble, because Garrett often gets a piece of the flop and is then, in his mind, obligated to call huge bets where he considers his equity worth the call, but equity which is not that good equal to the bet I mean. So inevitably here Garrett hits a hand on the flop, which strangely he often does somehow, call it luck if you want. But like I said his calling with such a wide range is going to get him into trouble, which it did here, and with so much already invested in the pot he feels an urge to call with his trip 666, but like the class player he is he finds a fold. Garrett's game of poker is engrossing to watch, this is because of his lack of fear and sheer bluff ability. However, he often gets himself in to huge trouble, like he did here, He is in a world of his own when it comes to his skill at poker. I love the guy!

Wow incredible fold Garrett. Couldn’t see it either in your shoes, but you knew something was off. Small 3 bet UTG happened to be queens. I will say after analyzing it Jon made a quick bet to 300 after being in conversation and then went real quiet but casual. The bet size seemed without thought or worry. that could potentially induce an ace 9 suited to raise, but in this case John limped his ace 9, garret limps his 3-6 and we see top set flopped. Jon’s range is super wide on a small 3 bet..but his mannerisms definitely could have highlighted queens especially after seeing him liking the ugly q96 board. Garret was suspicious of the easy call back on flop too after he checked raised. Then jon raised garrets 2k bet to 12k on the turn with draws out there. These guys are ballers and hope to play with them one day. Great fold. I woulda probably called…

Garrett is a good player an excellent pot controller and a reraiser. Though his least talked about skill is getting information from the heads up opponent and starring down the All in er

That's how you have to run if you wanna become a millionaire playing poker. Of course skill does help and matter, but it cannot overcompensate the luck factor. You either have it or you don't. You can know all hole cards of all opponents, if the board doesn't play along, there's ain't a lot you can do.

Because he couldn't beat any value hands that Jon would have there. Jon's not going to go all in there with AQ or even KK and AA. Jon either has 9s full Queens full or an insane missed combo draw bluff shove.

Pretty good fold, 78 miss, J10, 2 flush draw miss, i could easily have convinced myself tht he had Q9 or KK or bluff, but maybe thats why i only play penny poker 😊
