Commentators like Paul Finebaum criticize Coach Deion Sanders not just for his coaching style, but because they are uncomfortable with the way Black men like Sanders are reshaping the conversation and power dynamics in sports. Sanders, a Hall of Famer and cultural icon, unapologetically embraces his identity, blending confidence, leadership, and "swagger" that challenges the predominantly white sports establishment. This discomfort is rooted in a long-standing double standard in which Black athletes and coaches are subjected to harsher criticism, while similar actions from white counterparts are either excused or overlooked. For example, while players like Terrelle Pryor and his Ohio State teammates were punished and humiliated for selling their own memorabilia-a move that prompted a major scandal-today's Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rules allow athletes to profit legally from their image, showcasing how the system worked against them before such reforms. Similarly, Black athletes like Colin Kaepernick were blacklisted for taking principled stands, such as kneeling during the national anthem, yet the same institutions continue to employ or defend individuals like Jon Gruden, who made racist remarks in emails referring to Black men like DeMaurice Smith with offensive stereotypes. These discrepancies are magnified by commentators like Finebaum who, instead of amplifying Black voices like Cam Newton’s-who has won a Heisman, a national championship, and played in a Super Bowl-focus on tearing down figures like Sanders for not conforming to established norms. Their criticism reflects a broader discomfort with Black success and influence that doesn't play by traditional rules, and it's clear in the way they treat Sanders with the same bitter disdain as when Skip Bayless dismissed Shannon Sharpe, saying "put your glasses back on." Finebaum’s critique isn't about Sanders' coaching ability-it’s about his disruption of the status quo, where Black men are expected to play their roles but not control the narrative.

True. I hope they pull it off

True Indeed, they played Bama really well and The U for a while. This will be a battle and I want be surprised if USF walks away with the victiry but if Colorado wins, which I hope they do, it'll be diminished by the media who will say this is a game they should have won.

Stop watching the hater. He uses coach Prime for clicks. They know when coach Prime starts winning, the best athletes are coming to coach Prime. Stop watching Finebaum and Whitlock. They don't bash the white Head coaches. They don't talk about Mack Brown losing to James Madison, Billy Napier, and others. They don't like coach Prime nor Colorado. Finebaum reports that Coach Prime is leaving Colorado to hurt his recruiting. Prime doesn't need Finebaum, Finebaum needs Prime.
