So, you went out and bought a CoCoSDC for your computer, now what? You could go through and download each program individually, transfer it to the SD card and then try it…or you could download almost everything available for the Colour Computer at once and try things out one after the other. Interested? Watch to find out how interested you should be!

I loved The Rainbow magazine so much. I used to ride my bicycle down to the bookstore to buy it along with Hot CoCo and Color Computer Magazine. They even had Dragon User! It was so exciting when new issues came out.

I love collecting all the old magazines. It is nice to be able to find most of them on the Color Computer Archive (for the CoCo related ones), but there is something about the physical magazine that a PDF can't replace.

And to think, I typed in all of my games out of magazines on the CoCo 1 chiclet keyboard (a challenge in itself!) and saved onto a tape drive. Never dreamed something like this would ever exist in the future!

You are going to love it! It is the best SD card solution I have found for any of my retro computers. To save a a real headache (if you have not done so yet) make sure your SD card is formatted to FAT32 or less.

I would've upvoted this purely for the cat if we're honest, but this is incredibly useful. I've just got my CoCoSD and was trying to get the menu to work and downloaded some apps.. I'm most interested in NitrOS9 and compilers/assemblers at this stage (it's where my interests lie) so I warmly thank you for the shake-n-bake SD card solution. That's brilliant! Technical question. I also have a FD502 with a pair of double-side modified floppies from my older CoCo1 and 2 and use them on the CoCo 3. Is there a device that will let me get a CoCo SD and the FD502 and plug it into the machine and let me use them at the same time to copy data back and forth from FDD to SDCard? I've had a look at some of the multi-pack's out there and realised 1.5 things.. 1 I definitely don't know enough about this yet and what I've seen so far 'seems' to be an either-or switcher that only runs one device at a time, disabling the second (eg: CoCoSD enabled, FD502 disabled). Thank you for the video's ..have subscribed.

I know the multipak will let you use multiple things at once, I am unfortunately not familiar with using one as I have not got my hands on one yet. The CoCo Discord is a great source for all things CoCo with a lot of very helpful people on it. Here is the invite link: discord.gg/4J5nHXm My suggestion for people to seek out are Dave Ladd, he knows just about everything about CoCo Floppy Drives and L Curtis Boyle, he is the main author behind the current OS9 project NitrOS9 EOU.

@@CanadianRetroThings Wonderful. Thank you. I will have a look around to see if anyone has created a modern equiv for the multipack. Ah. I'm not a social networking person and tend to dislike anything more modern than Ham Radio or IRC. :) I've noticed a lot of the older crowd dislike these modern discord/mastodon/twitter/etc.

@@VK2FVAX The only person I know that makes a modern equivilent is the Zippsterzone. Although he rairly has any in stock. The other easiest thing to do is build a Y cable (something I keep planning on doing) which was comman back in the day, I believe you changed drive through pokes.

The Magazine scans are available in a different section of the Color Computer Archive, if you click on the Archive tab at the top of the screen the drop down menu has Magazines under the Documents heading.

Ted, what about doing a video involving command line loading (as if through another program) using VCC as the emulator? I mean, is it possible to command line load CASS, DSK, CCC files like : vcc.exe -cass whatever.cass? You can do this, to a degress with M.E.S.S. but i never heard if Jeff Vasour's emulator supported command line (as in from a dos prompt). How about it?

I just got the Coco SDC and copied that complete directory to the root of my SD card that is 8gb in FAT32 and I put it in the Coco 2 and turn it on, but all I get is the Color Basic 1.2. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
@JolliAllGenGamer
@JolliAllGenGamer Жыл бұрын
I found out why I think. Since my Coco2 is only 16kb and it says in the Coco SDC guide "When using a CoCo 1 or 2 a minimum of 32K RAM is required to perform an installation of SDC-DOS and 64K RAM is required to install the MCU firmware". So I need to find another Coco 1 or 2 because the 3 is expensive with at least 64kb.
@CanadianRetroThings
@CanadianRetroThings Жыл бұрын
I think you also need Extended BASIC. If you are a member of the Color Computer Discord, there are channels where people can help you upgrade the computer you have. That should be cheaper than finding another CoCo

Hello, Great videos...I have a 128kB COCO-3 with an RBG screen and just purchased an SDC. I cannot get any of the Sierra games to load. They get to the point when I choose "R" for RGB and then it locks up and the game never starts. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Scott

I'm not sure about all of the Sierra games but I know at least some require 512k. If you don't have enough memory the game will lock up as you described.
