How about a few hundred more games? Games that will work on your Colour Computer 1, 2, or 3? Sound good? If you answered yes to any of these questions then you should stop reading and watch the video!

I aplaud your good video production values. Maybe review non-game applications? Still not convinced to buy a CoCo 3.

The biggest non game reason to buy a CoCo3 (in my opinion) is NitrOS9 EOU, you get OS9 Level 2 as well as the GUI system. The SDC allows you to mount 2 hard drives so you can have the NitOS9 EOU drive and a personal drive for saving programs. I did a couple of videos about it as I was learning to use it, it comes with a large number of productivity programs.

@@CanadianRetroThings I had loads of fun with my $20 thrift store Model III 48K. Got LDOS running and using a Wayne Green book on Model III interfacing, we had it taking & logging readings, switching 120V lights, 24v relays & water valves and real-time on screen monitoring all programmed in basic. Many late nights tag teaming the B&W screened Mod III taking turns at the keyboard. We bought all the needed parts at the local Radio Shack when they still sold cool stuff, 8255 PPI, opto-isolating chips, some 7400 stuff. I find a lot of Canadiens retro computing on youtube. Must be those long cold winters that keep you all in your basements hacking the nights away. I'll check out more of your videos.

I don't know off hand of anyone selling updated keyboards right now, the only thing I know of is computerconect.com sells a nice replacement for the mylar that is a board and switches.

The PALETTE command lets you choose either RGB or CMP colors, but you can't just say 'RGB' by itself with no command. That's a syntax error. The correct syntax is PALETTE RGB.
@CanadianRetroThings
@CanadianRetroThings Жыл бұрын
Although the Color Computer 3 BASIC Quick Reference Guide does say you need PALETTE before the RGB or CMP command both these are tokenized commands that can be used as single word commands for the same result. The problem is if you write a program on a CoCo 1 or 2 and include these commands, they are not tokanized and are treated as undefined variables, giving a syntax error even if you try and run it on a CoCo 3.

@@CanadianRetroThings I was speaking of CoCo 3 only. Since Coco 1&2 do not have a PALETTE command, you are correct about it getting encoded as if it's a variable, unfortunately. CoCo3 BASIC won't recognize them in that situation. But while 'RGB' and 'CMP' are tokenized reserved words on a Coco 3, BASIC does not allow them to be used as stand-alone commands without them being part of a PALETTE command.

@@stephen.jenkins - Incorrect. PALETTE is a token that can be used either with the optional RGB or CMP separate token after it, and also used in the form PALETTE . But Coco 3's BASIC handles just CMP or RGB by themselves just fine - I have been doing it since 1987 when we figured that out. I do understand why the manual's present it that way - RGB is pretty self explanatory, but CMP could have been confusing to somebody new to BASIC who may think it was short for 'compare' in some way. But please try just CMP or RGB (either from a program or right from the command line) on a Coco 3 (real hardware or any of the emulators)... it works fine, and always has.

@@CurtisBoyle Okay, I believe you. But that means RGB and CMP are recognized as commands. Honestly, although I've used PALETTE slot, color to do some pretty amazing things and read Spectral Associate's Super Extended BASIC Unravelled series, I'm shocked I have never tried it with just RGB alone. Honestly, I have never tried that way, and I'm shocked. If only any of my CoCo3's were working, I could test it. They all died with power suppy issues years ago.
