I live in Greece and from the reports here in the next few months heating petrol will go up 95%, natural gas for heating will go up 95%, electricity will go up around 50%, the supermarket will go up about 40-50%... and all this in a country where the minimum salary is a measly 600 euros a month.... minimum salary citizens will be wearing lots of coats this winter cause I they won't be able to afford fucking heat... Anyway... it's all just the fucked up world we live in... the 100 richest bastards have more wealth than the remaining 99.99999999999999% of the planet, they don't give a fucking dime to help anyone, they create crisis after crisis to get more money and literally millions of lives have been lost so they can get it... there is a saying and it's very fucking accurate... I'm Greek... here in Greece it's exactly the same... the 4-5 wealthiest people in the country are having a fucking party at this point... the president isn't even bribing people to get them vaccinated, he upright blackmails them, saying that people that don't have a vaccination paper they won't be allowed anywhere (restaurants, cinemas, public buildings)... America may start the trends such as PC culture but they always go worldwide... now the whole world is in deep shit... lately the news here are flooded with killings of women by their husbands or boyfriends which is awful of course and purposely calling them female killings and not homicides (cause you know... all human lives matter equally, or at least they should) to pit women against men but in my mind I'm thinking "really? there are reporting 10 different cases in the last 6 months while in the last 10 years they've reported like 5 in the main news programs?"... there must be a reason for that right? And then you always here for some new law they passed while you were watching about that that fucks you up the rear as always but you were kept busy at the time... not saying that the killings shouldn't be on the news... of course they should... any human life lost is tragic... however they're there only to serve the politicians who want to pass their scammy laws while the public is asleep... My personal advice to you is don't identify as liberal or democrat or republican or in the middle or anything... when people ask me where I stand politically I tell them that I'm me, I'm an intelligent person with my own ideas and beliefs and I don't need a fucking political party to tell me what I should believe in... thankfully I have parents that did that job way better and long ago...

Carlin got more laughs in his early to mid career. Once he started getting older (probably about '99-2000 until his death in 2008), he still had funny bits, but he was preaching truth and making you think a little more often than making you laugh. I was lucky that I got to see him live in concert once here in New Orleans back in the mid 90's. The thing I remember most is that he was doing this one routine that normally wouldn't be terribly funny if I was just listening to it on a CD - but because it was live, he just had me doubled-over laughing so hard that I literally couldn't catch my breath for 1-2 minutes straight. Best concert I've ever been to. Started listening to Carlin in the late 80's, and he'll always be my #1 comedian.

Love me some Carlin & your reactions. My miracle son is now 15, Hubby & I have always talked about the 1st Amendment with him since he was able to talk. We always wanted him to think/research then speak his own mind. That being said, we also taught him that what you say has consequences. Like yelling Fire in a crowded theater as an example. He has learned, we will defend his right to say whatever/whenever he wants... but the consequences of your words are ALL yours. Think before you speak! I think George was our (collectively) last philosopher. No one has the gall to stand in front of any audience and speak the truth. Now days everyone tries to take sides, like it's some sort of popularity contest. George didn't give a fuck. He stood up and spoke his mind, love him or leave him. And the smart people, the thoughtful people, understood his message. The people vs the machine. He was unforgiving of both. And rightfully so. George Carlin’s comedy was always more of a societal commentary. He held up the fun-house mirror to all our bullshit and showed us how ugly it really was. It’s also worth noting just how timeless his comedy is. It’s just as powerful and true now as it was when he first got on stage. In time, we’re gonna look at Dave Chappelle the exact same way.

You're more likely to get the truth from a comedian because the truth is what's funny and what gets them money while media makes their money by feeding into biases and focusing on what's going to get the most attention. People go to media for controversy and to have their fears and prejudices confirmed. People go to comedians because they're sick of being lied to.
