This version of The Viy is visually stunning, but I wish they had remained true to the original story. The original version was both beautiful and terrifying. The best version I've seen so far is the 1967 version in Russian with English subtitles.

The folk dresses, accessories, name of the pagan celebration, characters’ names and the locations are all Ukrainian. Whoever translated “ pannochka” to “ mistress” should know better. The actual movie that comes with English subtitles is from 1967. That one was a real masterpiece.

@@jackdarbyshire5888 Yeah, that doesn’t answer the question I asked. I tried that, and it still comes up with multiple versions that are not the English and English dub. Viy or forbidden empire both bring up the same thing, because it’s the same film, just with different names. But, there is a Russian dub, and a few others, including French I Believe. The English one is the hardest to find.
