Black hair grows but it it's very delicate & immediately breaks off. The butter keeps the hair hydrated & helps prevent breakage. So it doesn't help it to grow. The hair is growing but breaking cuz of the coiling/ tight curls.

Wow, thank you for making this video! My teenaged son is mixed (his dad is black and I'm white), and is growing his hair long. We live in a smaller town (not culturally friendly), and he's been using just what's available on WalMart's black hair care shelves. Did you test out lesser time and it wasnt as effective? Just curious.
