That part about Lawrence of Arabia was amazing, I love that fiilm and the true story behind it. I also watched a jordanian film called "Theeb" which was filmed entirely in Wadi Rum, the funny thing is that I had no idea it was filmed there and then when I watched this vlog i thought it looked exactly like the place i saw in that film, and it turns out it is!

Hey Gabe we are Patreon supporters! Just a suggestion on the volume of your videos. On this one, when the music started it went way loud like tv commercials do, and we were having to turn down and then back up when you started talking. My partner suggested looking for a 'mastering/compression' feature on your editing software if you haven't already that would help even out the volume between music and your narration. Thank you and we are enjoying this journey very much!
@GabrielTravelerVideos7 жыл бұрын
Alright, thanks for the feedback. Yeah the volume is always an issue that I'm trying to get right but it's tricky, especially since I'm working on a laptop using earphones, so I'm not hearing what it's like on various other devices such as a TV. I adjust volume levels like crazy. But I'll keep it in mind with the music if it's generally too loud and err on the side of more quiet.

It was 50 dinars or about $70 each for for each day of travel. So 100 dinars for the taxi for the day tour, split between the two of us.
@veromad62665 жыл бұрын
from wadi musa you went to wadi rum by taxi? and how did you arrange the truck car to pick you up and take you around the dessert? :)

That was all arranged by the people at our hotel where we stayed the night before. So we just asked them for a ride that would take us to Wadi Rum and give us a tour and then take us to Aqaba and they took care of it.

Patrick is Famous! By the way, seeing you on that balcony reminded me of when I was in Baghdad in 85. The first morning I was there (I was there on business designing an irrigation system and was understandably concerned about the war situation) I got up very early and went out on the balcony to look at the surroundings. I closed the sliding glass door behind me (I was on something like the 5th or 6th floor) and when I tried to go back in the door was locked. I saw a gardener working below and called out to him. He knew exactly what had happened. 15 minutes later or so the hotel staff had to break into my door to finally get in and open the sliding door. I certainly make sure the door doesn't automatically lock on me now when I go out on a balcony.
@GabrielTravelerVideos7 жыл бұрын
Crazy. Lucky someone was around to be able to see you. I guess figuring out which room it was might have been a little tricky for the staff. That's something that shouldn't be able to happen, it should be a lot harder to lock the door from the balcony. At least it worked out okay.
@garywilson16887 жыл бұрын
There was a sticker on the door that said it automatically locks when closed. I didn't see it when I stepped out into the balcony in my underwear for a quick view of my surroundings (I got in late the night before). I have a feeling I wasn't the first one to have this experience.

Where did you arrange your tour of Wadi Rum? How much did it cost? Just one day?
@GabrielTravelerVideos7 жыл бұрын
Patrick arranged it with his hotel (we stayed in different hotels in Wadi Musa). It was 50 dinars each which is about $70 USD and that included the taxi driver as well as the 4-wheel drive guide, then I tipped him an extra 5 dinars. Yeah it was just for the day, left Wadi Musa in the morning and got to Aqaba middle of the afternoon.
