Bowie always seemed to be just ahead of the next music trend. A master of reinventing his persona & music to be current with the times. Also , while he was a decent guitar player , that is none other than the legendary Stevie Ray Vaughan playing the solo at the end of this song. He was invited to tour with Bowie for this album but declined to instead tour & promote his debut album Texas Flood. Thank god he made that choice !

Other reaction sites claim not to have researched songs, but obviously have, so I now only watch you, as you offer that refreshing naïvité each time. We went to Alice Springs for the video. It was ridiculously hot. Like 40 celsius. Also Brisbane and the Marshall Islands. Actually the same week we shot China Girl. I don't remember SRV having any part of the recording, he was there for China Girl tho obviously. David wasn't super confident about his own playing at that time, so Stevie was maybe brought in later. The initial takes for that solo were Carlos Alomar. Then David and I did a simpler version which apparently was copied by SRV. David did more of his guitar parts than he's credited with.

(I can’t recall the name, but I’m pretty sure it was on 7th Ave - possibly 810 7th - as I worked for another company in that building a few years later). I recall the gentleman I interviewed with telling me that it was a “one-girl office”, and I’d be responsible for stocking the penthouse whenever David was in town. I was young and a bit starstruck. Before I left, the gentleman offered me albums to take with me, but every one he offered I already had. 🤣 But it’s a day I’ll never forget. I just wish he’d been in town so I could’ve met him. One of my favourite Bowie songs. His voice is SO beautiful. His voice is wonderful, anyway, but in this song, it's wonderful!!! "Put on your red shoes and dance the blues." and the beautiful line, "Because my love for you would break my heart in two." I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for uploading. I don't know if you've heard it, or if you've done another vid on it, but "HEROES" is wonderful as well.

Back when he was the "White Duke", so much class and funk, love me some David Bowie since i was a kid back in the 80's and he was the Goblin King, you can't put him in a category, he's just magic and i miss him.

The 80's were such good years for music! He had many styles over the years. This song brings back such beautiful memories of my early 20's. Music Videos were the "new thing", and we'd be in the clubs at least once a week! God, to be that young again *sigh*

David Bowie was like a chameleon, he wasn't the same persona for too long. There were so many sides to him to explore. This song was a huge hit and I totally remember dancing to this song at the clubs. Growing up with David Bowie's music of the 70s and 80s, when David Bowie passed away, I cried like a baby. It felt like a part of my life passed with him. I was so sad. Very few celebrities affect me that way but, David Bowie was definitely a special soul. Check out his interviews with MTV when he calls out racism in America, even in music, and really just lays it out there as the host struggles to explain it.

I got bit by the Bowie bug back in the early '70's & it was always exciting to experience each new album of his when they came out. Each one took me on a different journey & yet each time the ride seemed very personal, like he was taking my hand & leading the way. He stayed with me all through the challenges of my life & his passing was a loss I can't describe. It thrills me to see younger people discovering his music to this day. I hope & pray he still affects people with the incredible gift he has left behind in his music.

Everything by Bowie is phenomenal. I recommend Suffragette City, I'm Afraid of Americans, or Starman. He also did some of the best collaborative work out there. I'm Afraid of Americans is with Trent Reznor. Dancing In The Street is with Mick Jagger. Bowie was a musical genius and a rock god. He is missed daily.

I've been to hundreds of concerts during my 58 years on planet Earth. David Bowie's 1983 "Serious Moonlight" tour is in my Top 5. Musically & visually it was a masterpiece. You can get it in HD and is well worth owning. I cried when Bowie died.

I saw David Bowie perform this live in concert (his serious moonlight tour, down under in Wellington, New Zealand) back in 83 and it was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had! With his astounding vocals, his golden tan, his peroxide hair and his pale clothing he simply glowed on the stage and the whole audience was totally transfixed by him....this is a small city and back then it was even smaller with a population of only 200,000 at the time - in spite of this, David managed to draw in crowds of 40,000 adoring fans....truly incredible! RIP David Bowie and thank you for such a wonderful and enduring memory...

David Bowie/Putting Out Fire (With Gasoline) There are three versions of this song by David Please pick the original version from the soundtrack of the motion picture Cat People. The soundtrack was scored and musically performed by the great Georgia Moroder, with David Bowie on vocals for two songs on the album. Very underrated as soundtracks go. He is best known for being instrumental in the majority of big hits by the late, great Donna Summer.
