As I move across the country to start a new life and escape from the shame of my neighbors and coworkers who have heard me read out loud ACOTAR smut scenes, I also read a few books along the way. Here’s me talking about them while I try not to have a nip slip in my bathrobe. For cheap books, use code READWITHCINDY to get your first BOTM YA box for only $5 (this deal ends December 31st). bookofthemonth...
(GIVEAWAY is now closed. Congrats to Melissa for being this month's winner!)
From now on I will be doing monthly giveaways where you can win 5 brand new books and a handwritten note from me as a way to thank you for supporting this channel. The giveaway is international because I am the Oprah of Booktube and will handle the shipping (last month's winner was in Greece!) Winner will be contacted by Friday December 13. 6:31 "Sir, this is a starbucks" -So this one time my dad and I went to Starbucks in a different state, where people spoke a different language (India is too diverse) and Dad was really not having the long queue that we had to wait behind. By the time we reached the counter, Dad just scoffed said something along the lines of "Now that they made us wait for so long with the slow service, will they offer rice too?" (It was around 1 pm and we haven't had our lunch yet) in his mother tongue. The person behind the counter just looked up and said in English "Sir, this is Starbucks, I am afraid we don't offer rice here". Don't ask me how he understood our language and knew what we were talking about cause clearly we didn't understand their language but yeah, good times.

Can you please review "Vox" - it's basically like a Handmaid's Tale kinda set up where Women lose rights and are suppose to do chistian trad wife shit now thanks to the new theocracy. A main part being that women wear this bracelet and are restricted to 100 words a day. The main character is a mom and use to be a doctor studying how to cure aphasia, and now her life feels empty and opressively mundane until the plot thickens. Personally I actually liked the first half of the book when they were going through her daily life and the exposition of leading up to this new order and feeling how she feels empty and unfulfilled in her life versus the second half where it feels like the plot gets a little contrived to a quite contrived and too quickly neat and wrapped up ending. I would love to see your take on this.

Ooh All the Light We Cannot See is such a wonderful book. I love it. I also really liked wool, but then again I read them as separate novellas and I don't know how they are in one book stitched together. The world building of the silos is pretty cool and the political commentary of later books/novellas is great.

Honestly, the motivations of the longer living siblings in the immortalist don't really make sense, like the siblings that know they're going to die young going completely yolo makes sense, but if you know you're going to live a really long time why be so cautious of what you do? You get to go batshit and commit war crime while also knowing that you're not going to die, that's just a waste

I still want to watch the rest of the video, but after hearing you discuss "The Immortalists," I wanted to drop in with a book recommendation though it's okay if you give it a pass. "This Is How You Die" is a collection of short stories that revolve around the premise of a machine that predicts how you will die. It doesn't tell you when or the events that lead up to it, just your cause of death. I found a lot of the stories very interesting, and how people react to the news. Sometimes how the deaths came about were intriguing and unexpected. It doesn't necessarily solve the issue of bonding with the characters because the stories themselves are short, but I liked the concept and how the predictions were fulfilled.

Lao Aidan I think the whole point of the story is that Joe is a creepy stalker with ill intentions but it’s written terribly.
@ArturGlass.C
@ArturGlass.C 4 жыл бұрын
@@laoaidan2400 I feel like the show is pretty good tho. I mean it has it's very weird moments that shouldn't be there but it's pretty nice. It shed light on shitty stalker and abusive predators that seem like perfect average joe. And it even did a pretty good job since a lot of people justified the guy's actions in the beginning and then looked really dumb and clownish by the end because yeah of course the guy who's abusive with everyone else "in the name of love" will end up being super abusive and awful to his partner...that ain't surprising. Anyway for me the show is good, because the show is absurd as fuck and it fits. It doesn't take itself much seriously. I don't know if I'd recommend it because it's fucked but knowing what Netflix can do it's by far not the shittiest thing they green lighted. (also I'm pretty sure it was on lifetime originally which isn't surprising in the slightest)
@thatjillgirl

@@laoaidan2400 The show was in the solidly okay zone though. Much better than the book because you don't get the super weird writing. Not that it was great, but I didn't regret watching it. It was a good distraction when I was home with the flu.

The reason you cried 7 times is because you're emotionally repressed, and when two fictional people are finally being able to be with each other with the limited time they have together, that lets out a small hole to free your emotions, and it comes out all at once. Also, the reason why you have 70k is because you're hilarious, and I love listening to you talk because I never know what to expect. 10/10
