I've been watching Pot clips since the game came out, and this last weekend I finally got to play the game, with my cousin, and one moment that stuck with me, was when I cornered him, he jumped out and the moment he went through to the other side, the pot buster I was trying to input somehow became an autocorrected HPB that won me the match. I suck at imputing the half circle+forward motion, otherwise that moment might've just turned into a pot main right there

I think one of the most terrifying things about grapplers is not their damage or the fact that they will fuck you up if you try to even get close, but that slow walk You are out there trying to bamboozle people while dashing after every move you do, and trying to mix up people with your air dash to cross up, and there's the grappler. Just walking. Approaching you slowly, clumsily jumping through your projectiles, just waiting for you to even dare to get into melee range so he can absolutely demolish your whole existence.

A little off-topic but still related, one of my favorite reminders that grapplers exist was in Street Fighter 5. I was playing Kage (an aggressive yet balanced Shoto with some cool stuff with meter to spend) VS Zangief (Potempken but isn't. Your Vanilla Ice Cream grappler.) Had a pretty back-and-forth first round in my favor, and had a good lead on the next one. Then he hard readed a jump-in and dealt 30% damage before walking my ass to the other corner with a combo and command grab. After basically 3 sets of this he scraped and crawled out a win by using a reversal to avoid a chip-damage kill after a first-round double-ko. That alone reminded me of why i loved and respected grappler mains: that steel-hard determination can win out in the end, and I'm grateful to be humbled.

Beowulf is deceptively fast and commanding once he gets in but he just has a slow walk and his dash is a little hop. That doesn’t count as airborne unless you do a move, which would be considered an airborne attack. You can get a lot of damage on him with projectile spam but once he is in range your health bar is gone. Matches start in close enough range to do Dash medium kick as soon as the match starts.
