I am 65 years old and not dead...ride a Z900RS by choice. Never thought to judge someone else's ride let alone them. If somebody spends TOO much time worrying about who made the motorcycle, then they are missing the point. Whether it is a Honda Super Cub or a CVO Road Glide, just enjoy the ride!!!

I have both a 2022 street glide and a 2010 go 1800. My HD is gorgeous and fun to be on. My GL runs circles around HD even tho it is 13 years older. Both in original trim and power.

I have a 25 year old and a 30 year old Harley. Have a combined 160 thousand miles and love them both dearly. Many years of trouble free riding and very few breakdowns. Normal wear parts on very rough roads in the U.S and still enjoying them. Thanks for sticking up for us Aymen!

I just traded my '91 FXRT with 325K miles. I did do a complete rebuild for her 20th birthday, paint, engine, the works. The only real problem I ever had was blowing a spark plug out of the cylinder and having to helicoil it. I upgraded (maybe?) to a '21 Ultra and absolutely love the 30 years of technological advances. The FXR was probably the best line ever produced, but 30 years does a lot.

Torque is actually a vector that runs along an axle, but math aside, the torque you want (i.e. at the rear wheel) is determined by gearing. You can put a great big sprocket on a sportbike and get more torque at the rear wheel. In fact, it's quite a common mod for stunters who want their sport bike to wheelie easier. Gas burns. The rate at which it converts its energy to heat is called power. If your bike is running and you're accelerating on it, it's because it's making more power than it did a millisecond ago. Torque is a component of power. RPM is the other component of power that no one seems to care about. Crank torque is a better marketing tool. If your bike makes a peak tq of 130 ft lbs @ 3k rpm, that means your bike is making 74 hp @ 3k rpm. That's a lot of power for such a low rpm, but it ain't gonna set any lap records. It will however get 1500 lbs of bike and riders away from the stop light and up a hill. A Hayabusa, by contrast, only has a measly peak tq of 111 ft lbs of tq, but it achieves that at 7000 rpm. So, it makes 148 hp @ 7k rpm. It also makes peak power at 9700 rpm, 190 hp. When it comes to making power, HDs are not in the same league with bike engines that are designed to go fast. But unless one plans to use all that power to run from cops, it's of little value on the street. I just got a $240 ticket for 22 over on my 80 hp Thruxton and I doubt the throttle was cracked 10%. My HD will do 110 mph on the speedo. More than sufficient to go to jail, get a ticket for reckless op, and probably lose my license for a while. I agree that people who think riding is all about buying a bike with the highest peak engine numbers knows little about motorcycling, but apparently there's a lot of them as that's what mfgs love to brag about. I like my HD because if the wife and I decide to ride a few states down the road, I don't need to keep my chin on the tank and she doesn't have to hold on to the luggage. And also because it floats down the road like a magic carpet...

I was a Harley hater and road sport and adventure bikes. I would always joke that I own a Harley is a polite way to say, " I will have to catch up so please wait for me." Now, it is my favorite motorcycle and it would take too long to explain why. I have a 2007 Road King Classic and love the retro look. I am 65 year old and miss the older bikes and the simplicity. I would go back to carburetors and point ignition since I wold need a circuit board and a scan tool to fix, but those days are gone. Harleys have come a long way and hopefully they can keep the spirit of the past and maintain customers. Our younger people as so into technology that is they don't have all the digital displays and gadgets, there not interested. Just give me a motorcycle with soul, no stereo, a great sound, and looks like a real motorcycle and not a power ranger space ship, and I am good. I have a 96 CI, stage one, and had it up to 100 mph (160 Kph, I am from the US) with no problem. Would'nt mind more, but don't need it. Its all about the ride. Nice video, Wish I had experience Harleys earlier.

I had an AMF Harley back in the 70s and the problem wasn't AMF, it was the owners. The bikes were pretty cheap and it was the start of having hundreds of options to bolt on. There was no Internet, so no real way of finding product reviews. People were buying parts from all kinds of parts from magazine ads, without any knowledge of the quality of the parts or whether it was compatible with other parts being bought elsewhere. AMF did have fit and finish issues, but I never really saw a stock AMF with mechanical breakdown problems. In fairness, I didn't see many stock AMF bikes either...

Black street glide ST here. I'm loving it. Made a few mods for performance/sound and comfort. I like that I can easily customise to my tastes. I owned a Yamaha Roadstar 1600 back in 99 when they first came out. Loved it at the time and in many ways it was a better bike than the HD equivalent at the time. However I was frustrated at the lack of parts options to customise. I ended up making a lot of components myself and then supplying them to other owners in the same boat.

After years of yearning to be back on the open road on two wheels, enduring major, life-changing catastrophes, I am now the owner of a 2004 Harley Road King Classic. 96 ci of pure bliss. It is absolutely beautiful and classic. I am thrilled every time I even look at it and pure nirvana when I ride. It's not super fast, and I don't need it to be. It's mine. It's MY dream, not someone else's. I'm 57. I don't feel old, although people see me that way (which still feels weird). After all I have been through, I finally feel free and happy again. Criticize my bike to my face at your own peril. You might find out what "Old, not dead" really means.❤

Ben riding Harley's for 30+ years, and I have learned three truths here. 1) HD stands for hundred dollar. 2) 90% of Harley Issues are owner induced. 3) my current bike is a 2010 Ultra with 78K on the clock, While I have worked mine a bit, 108 torque and all, it still makes emissions and it goes just as fast as the bike in front of me, while still getting 49MPG.

Great content as usual! I'm 70, ride 2008 Softail Custom which I absolutely love, it's the longest I've ever kept a bike and have no intention of getting rid of it. Criticism of Harleys is, in my experience, based on ignorance mostly by RUBs with their ample figures squeezed into dayglo leathers, wearing boots they struggle to walk in, with beautifully coiffured hair, riding race replicas with extremely low mileages on them. They don't have a clue what being a biker is all about! 🇬🇧B

Couple weeks ago, I rode 1200 miles between Texas and Arkansas. Coming back was 507 miles in 100-109F weather. Super Tenere did great. It was brutal but, great ride. I'm sure Harley could do it too. There is lots of good bikes out there. They can do more than most riders can handle.

I am 76 years old and have owned many different brands of bikes in my 62 years of riding. I have owned a Fatboy, a Heritage Softball, and still own an XL1200 C. The 2013 XL has been bulletproof. The 2005 Heritage blew up going through a construction site at 10mph. The most dependable bikes I have owned are my 2014 Victory Crossroads (ridden through 13 states this year alone), my 2013 XL1200C, and a Triumph Bonneville America. Nothing has gone wrong with any of these three bikes. Just normal service. You are absolutely right that you have to pick the correct bike for your intended use. I plan to keep my two bikes for as long as I can ride. I would never own a bike with built in radio and nav. I concentrate on the road. Built in nav becomes inaccurate too fast. I use detachable navigation that is easily updated.

Im cursed...sold my 79 goldwing for an 85 Harley (new from dealer). Broke down on the highway on the way home. Carb issues. Left me stranded again 6 mos later...tranny. Sold it, bought a new 86 Harley, Within a year it saw the dealer several times...leaking piece of junk. Sold it too. Bought another Goldwing, ran for 10 years like a dream, then switched to a Yamaha cruiser...smooth as silk., My other Japanese bikes have never left me stranded over the last 40 years. I always wanted a Harley, but back in the day, they were definitely lacking.....

I've had sports bikes and cruisers, so I'm not one sided on either. However I am noticing many councils (at least in Victoria) are dropping the speed limits from 100 to 80km/h even pushing out to the country areas. It seems like every other weekend a new stretch of great twisty road has been slowed down to conform to the lower speed limit. I'm on a HD Road King now and would not like to be on a sports bike forced to drop the speed that much. Just as well I'm on a cruiser as that is what we are being restricted to in many areas now.Oh and the big old Road King, humps along just fine.....

I needed to get more comfortable and ended up buying a 2009 Voyager with 85K kms on the clock. It allows me to get into the cruiser ride for a pittance while I decide if a bagger is for me. I had a 2012 Concours prior so I needed to readjust my power expectations accordingly but that's OK if I can ride all day long without my knees screaming at me. At 64 my canyon carving days are behind me and there is a lot to be said for chugging along and enjoying the views.

Addressing haters and trolls, though not a new concept, just new to me in my 2 wheel youtube channel choices, for views and comments, keeps me watching to the end of the video. This is rare for me. So big thumbs up to your production and editing crew. I fit one, or more of the categories you described in your vid "market flood of low mileage....". I'm 60, got my endorsement at 18, which was the minimum age at that time here in Oregon USA. Rode till life happened, then nothing until I realized I'm "OLD, NOT DEAD" yet,....and found a nice used Star V-star 1300. I should'a kept that bike, but once I discovered the world of dual sport and super moto, I fell head first into it. I live on a main bike route. It's great fun here locally, to watch (hear first, then see) the very diverse bike and rider groups go by on any given weekend. Full dress baggers, trikes, sport bikes, nakeds, and ADV dual sports, all out for a ride to a common parking lot show or lakeside gathering etc.

Harley M8 copied the Metrics 8 valve heads and their new CVO 121 copying Metric liquid cooled and let that sink in. Would like to see the evolution engine in their cruiser, and touring bikes. Water ever they make people will buy. The PanAmerica turned out to be a top seller for touring adventure.

I’m 65 and started riding motorcycles at 49. I have 4 bikes, 2004 Honda VTX1300C, 2007 Suzuki DRZ400S, 2014 Suzuki VStrom 1000adv and 1980 Honda CB125S. I live in Cook County, Illinois (USA) so I am very close to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, home of Harley Davidson. When I ride locally in Illinois and Southern Wisconsin, we see that about 90% of the bikes are Harley’s. They are beautiful bikes and I’ve always wanted one but they are out of my price range . When I fly out West to ride the deserts and mountains we rent Harley Street and Road Glides and really enjoy them.

People want a Sportster S for the same price as a Vulcan S. And they foolishly compare it to something like a Rebel or Shadow and think it’s the same because they can twist the throttle and move forward so it’s all the same right? I have a Sportster S and. Hayabusa. The Hayabusa was $6000 less than the Harley but I don’t think it’s a better bike. It’s a different bike but not better. But KZbin kids don’t understand like cars you have different styles of bikes that are good at various things. You can buy a $50,000 car that’s faster than a $100,000 car but does that mean it’s a better car?

About 50 years ago there was a joke in Easyrider magazine. It showed a rice bike next to a couple of HD choppers at a stoplite. The guy on the ricer says "Want to Race?" a guy on a chopper says " Sure! On the same bikes in 10 years." And Yes, I still have the same HD I had then.

They're not my cup of tea but they are/can be reliable: "Former Wisconsin senator and US Marine Corp veteran, Dave Zien put a world record one million miles on his 1991 Harley Davidson FXR Super Glide. Zien began the journey in 1991 hitting the million mark on April 4, 2009. The effort earned him a place in the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame." I think second place is help by a Honda Gold Wing with over 300k.

I’ve owned five Harley’s and my favorite has been the 2017 RGS in Laguna Orange. I recently went to a 2022 Honda GW Tour DCT as I moved to Europe for work. I wanted the DCT for two up riding though the Alps and it has been awesome. The GW was roughly 6k cheaper than the 2022 RG Limited I wanted (Black w/blacked out). I actually couldn’t find one and I was living in Texas at the time. All to say the GW Tech, power delivery, and comfort out the box is awesome. Now I miss my Harley’s and will get another when I return back for the US. Your points are not wrong on all counts and I agree. The one thing I really miss is the sound and character. I currently ride a 2012 Dyna Switchback. People say it's a bike made for women or it's a Road Queen. They say real men need to ride big heavy Glides or Road Kings. So guys end up buying a bike that's too big and heavy for them to handle, so they either crash it or quit riding it and just let it sit. I say don't listen to what anyone else says. Buy a bike that you can handle and that you're comfortable riding. Last year I sold my 2020 Yamaha MT-09 that was a veritable rocket and bought a 2012 Switchback. With the lower center of gravity on the Switchback I can flick around the 718 pound Harley just as easily as I could the 420 pound Yamaha. I have had two Electra Glides in the past and to me the Switchback is just as good and a hell of a lot cheaper. I'm almost 70 and have been riding motorcycles since I was 15. So I can picture myself riding the Switchback for many more years and miles, God willing. Just found your channel and I'm loving it. You give a lot of good, sensible information that's enjoyable to watch.

Great video. 2003 Super Glide and 1976 XLCH owner and will happily cruise all day on my SG at 80mph all day or rip it through the twisties in my area. It does some things better than some and worse than others, but it works great and I love the feel and sound that a Harley has that others don't. Use a cruiser to cruise, a roadie to travel, and a race bike to race on a track, simple plan.

Owned 3 Harleys over the years, Fat Boy, 2 Street Glides and a Road Glide. Never once did they break down. Only regular maintenance and upgrades. My Road Glide was a Stage 3 build and was a ton of fun. It was my last Harley. At 66, I listened to my kids (both in emergency medicine) and sold the Glide and did not ride for 3 years. Back riding again, less expensive bikes. Semi retired and have to not live like a Baller. Sold the Duc and now riding a Guzzi. Still yearn for my Stage 3 Harley.

The best reason to buy a Harley is aftermarket parts. Most bikes older than 10 years, if you want OEM parts, the dealers/manufacturers don't support older bikes. There are so many aftermarket parts for Harleys, you can completely rebuild any year Harley without counting on ebay or craigslist for parts. If you are going to keep a bike less than 10 years, buy whatever you want to ride and have fun with it. If you are going to ride it for the next 25 years, buy a Harley and find a local mechanic if you don't turn wrenches yourself. That $150 sissy bar becomes a $300 mod when the dealer adds labor. The guy down the street will put those 4 bolts in for $50. I have a 1980 Sportster, dealers don't even want to look up parts for it when I need something. It is 40 years old, nothing is in stock, and I completely overhauled the engine, the only parts that actually came from H-D were the crank bearings because the right side is hand lapped and the left side is a matched set of tapered bearings. Everything else came from V-Twin, Custom Chrome, S&S, etc. MSRP on a Hayabusa is $18K, MSRP on H-D V-Rod is $18K, the Busa will do 180mph out of the box, the V-Rod will do about 150mph. Being a fat old man, I am not going to be going that fast no matter what I am on. I own an Ultra Classic, 883-1000-and 1200 SPortsters, a Honda XR650L and about half a dozen metric cruisers. There is no one bike that can sitisfy my needs. There isn't one bike to me that is better than ecverything else.

'09 Roadglide 114" Screaming Beagle engine built on 88cu inch lower end (weak bearings) ,09 sportster XR1200 (likes to ingest its throttle body butterflies.) I'd have to be an idiot to buy another. I just completed a 4300 mile trip to Sturgis and back on a 20 year old Electraglide. Everything worked perfectly until the switch to my cruise control came apart about 2300 miles in and I had to hand throttle it the rest of the way home. I don't consider that too much of an issue, the Goldwing I was riding with lost it's directionals which was a bigger issue. On another trip I was on, my Harley made the trip with no issues but a V-Strom I was riding with lost it's front sprocket. The rider found the parts fixed it with a rock. A friend left on a trip to Colorado, the Africa DCT he was riding with lost it's ability to shift on the first day of the ride. They had to wait for it to cool before it would shift again. All bikes have issues at one time or another, but on a 500 mile day I'll take my EG any day.

I like all bikes, but certain Harley riders I personally know make fun of the sportster and a bunch of other bikes. " The sportster is a Girls' Bike" or "sport bikes are Just Death on wheels" This is what turned me away from Harley davidson was the people who I personally know that ride them. I have an Indian Scout Rouge, and I'm proud of it. The guys at the Harley dealership tried selling me the nightster for $19,000 when the msrp was just $13,000 this is the dealership just outside of Philadelphia Pennsylvania.

Little Bias here as an Aprilia owner (also own a Guzzi) but you can buy a Tuono V4 brand new in the states for 16,000. It's an upright bike with wind protection and it works as a touring bike, does a 1/4 mile in high 9s to low 10s depending on the rider. So, Sport guys and cruiser guys are both wrong the only right answer for best bike is the Tuono. On a serious note, the loud obnoxious idiots in every community unfortunately get too much attention and can ruin it for everyone enjoy your bike and ignore the morons who crave attention.

i am one of those that have never said Harley's are slow. they are expensive, they are heavy, depending on the model(the new Breakout looks fantastic)they look good. now i am 68 years old, never allowed to own a bike. well everyone that matters is gone. i bought a 2019 Honda rebel 500. it may be slow at only doing 85 mph, but i can flat foot it, do the maintenance, and it's water cooled. Can't say I am an expert since I've only been riding for 4 years so I will defer to two people I know personally and one who has a KZbin channel specializing in working on Harleys. The first is my cousin who was born into a well-to-do family so much so that he owned 10 Harleys - at the same time - who had ridden bikes of all kinds from age 16 up - and raced in Motocross on the side. I asked him what bike to buy and he said after 40 years of riding he was on a Honda VTX which would beat the Harleys off the line every time. (He would race at a track with actual timing and lights etc.) The other was a friend of mine from 1976 - a lifetime Harley rider - who said "It ain't a Harley if it isn't leaking something." He rode to Sturgis where his bike broke and had to pay through the nose to have it fixed there. But he still loves Harleys. The last is a KZbinr who works mostly on Harleys as a how-to-channel. However he was working on a Honda (doing an oil change and plugs) and made the off-hand comment - "These things never break - I've seen them at 100,000 miles without a tear-down. They run forever." So that is what I know anyway. Harleys do have a monopoly on the cool sound though.

If your Harley left an R1 in the dust, that R1 had some serious issues. Stop sign to Stop sign that HD would be competitive. Anything after that and that second gear they never use will leave you behind. In laguna Seca this year, the top speed in Supersport was 144.5 mph by Tyler Scott. The fastest King of the baggers HD was James Respoli at 143.1 mph. So, fully built factory supported baggers can barely keep pace with an outdated 750 Suzuki Supersport. A bagger on the road, has no ability to keep up with an R1. I’m not a sport bike rider. Hell I ride a CB500X and a Zero DSR. I’ve owned a Deluxe, Heritage, Ulta Classic, Sportster and a Pan America. So I’ve owned my fair share of HD. I’ve owned 34 bikes in total. I’ll take a Honda any day. And saying that you don’t see Harley guys bashing other brands/styles is simply laughable. Ride a non-Harley anywhere near your “typical” Harley guy and see how quick they shit on you. Hell, most HD guys shit on sportster riders cuz they ain’t really bikes and they want nothing to do with the liquid cooled Rev Max engines. Honestly, most non-Harley people don’t hate the bikes, they hate the stereotype ass hole riders who still live the delusion that HD is the most American, best built, most powerful bikes on the planet.

Lol…fast….I’ve owned and ridden a 2007 Honda CBR1000RR..most rides were over 100 MPH. We would take our bikes out to west Texas in wide open places and we would fly between 150-175MPH…then to Arkansas same. I lived through all the high speed stuff without ever wrecking. I’ve had four Goldwings, a Honda Blackbird….and many other bikes. I now only ride a 2002Harley Fatboy. I get out in the country and I’m always waving cars around or I move to the shoulder as I putt between 55-70 MPH. I’ve done all that high speed stuff with full racing gear…..now I still wear my full face Aria helmet but I’m not into hyper speed stuff. I’m 60 and I savor the ride like a fine wine. With over 600,000 miles on two wheels and Father Time clicking off daily..I love loving my Harley in this moment of my life. Just thought I would share. Love your channel brother. In my opinion if you’re riding two wheels and soaking up the sun and kissing the wind then you’re a happy winner. Soak it up.

Bumped into a couple of Triumph riding mates at a coffee stop. They were with a couple of their mates, all riding Triumphs. They laughingly asked if I needed to be accompanied by a van to pick up all the bits when out riding my Harley. We had a little snigger and they then proceeded to have a conversation amongst themselves about how their local Triumph dealer keeps screwing them over with outlandish repair bills. I was riding my 1970 FL in second gear in front of the local college at about 20 mph, when I got pulled over and cited for riding through a cross walk when pedestrians were in it. I told the judge that although a couple of people had stepped off the curb they were just standing there. I thought they were watching me ride by and be cool on my motorcycle. Case was dismissed. I'd rather go slow and look cool than go fast and be a blurr.

Gotta kick out of this one Aymen! Having worked for HD and ridden with any number of riders on different brands, the #1 criticism that I've heard is about reliability. #2 is "you're just buying it for the logo/brand." My response is invariably, "well, yeah." Followed by "Is the reason you're not riding an HD is because of the logo/brand?" That usually elicits an incoherent response along the lines of "Yeah, but..." I own a Harley, I've only ever owned Harleys, but I've ridden most of the other brands out there. Does HD make me scratch my head and say "WTF?" on occasion, yep. The latest being the fudded up (IMO) decision to go with gray as their basic color rather than black. What best sums it up for me is a passage from Brock Yates' book, "Outlaw Machine." He describes Harleys as "a dreadful, irresponsible machine with no redeeming social qualities -- mechanical pornography to decent folk -- that simply won't go away despite the sheer, outrageous blat of its fuming exhaust in the face of seamless technology and the orderly, opulent, and essentially soulless brave new world."

In a 2 years period of doing that every single Friday and Saturday night (morning), only 2 cars overtook me and one of them was an BMW M3. And no, I wasn’t trashing the car. I’ve owned a 2017 street glide from new, I own 5 other bikes 3 of which are Honda’s the build quality is up there with theses and far better than a 2022 Kawasaki I also own. All good bikes but nothing beats the feeling (and comfort) of riding a Harley. Just returned from a 7 country 3 week trip around Europe and the Harley was faultless even 2 up on Swiss passes.

Slow and steady enjoy the ride and the scenery. I have three Harleys, 1992 Electra Glide Ultra Classic, 1991 Springer Softtail, and a 1978 Flh. The 78 is going through another alteration as I'm writing this. I'm installing 1980 FLT forks (wide glide at this time) no front or rear fenders, side mount license plate and taillight, front and rear lowered (2.5 inches) LAF exhaust (LOUD AS F#@K), and a sportster speedometer. Lepara barebones solo seat. 10" ape hangers, foot clutch, and jockey shifter. It's slow yes (best cruise speed is 60 mph), but very loud and very fun to ride. I'm considering different front and rear sprockets I'd like to be able to cruise on the interstates at 70 mph without my fingers going numb after 30 minutes of riding, hahaha. Gotta love solid mount shovelheads. I enjoy your content and appreciate your honest thoughts about the riding community. I wanted to add, claimed maximum peak output power of 58.00 HP (42.3 kW) @ 5150 RPM this was during the 55 mph maximum speed limit here in the US. Engine and transmission are still stock 74 cu-in (1200 cc) and 4 speed transmission.

Modern day bikes are a far cry from what they use to be. Fuel injected water cooled engines will always out perform the old air cooled carby bikes regardless of what brand you prefer. Ride what you want . It's your life 👍

When someone talks crap about Harley, I smile because they don't know anything about HD and also because I don't care what they think. Most Harley riders don't talk crap about other bikes, which makes us superior. :)

My take on the three common troll themes… Slow? Not to me. My Harley is more than fast enough for the riding I do. I don’t care about more top speed or better acceleration when I don’t use all the speed and acceleration I have. Unreliable? Not in my experience. Routine preventative maintenance and replacement of wear items (eg. tires). My only gripe with something I thought should have lasted longer has been with a battery. Not a HD battery, a cheap one I got off Amazon. You get what you pay for. Expensive? Yes. But obviously worth it or else people (myself included) wouldn’t buy them. If trolls can’t see that other people may have different priorities, likes, wants, desires. Well, they should go work on their skills as human beings first, then worry about motorcycles. In the end trolls are going to be trolls. There is a certain (thankfully small) percentage of the population that apparently gets some weird satisfaction out of trying to put other people down. I pity them for their miserable existence, but also laugh at them for thinking folks like us give a damn what they think. They keep making noise, we keep buying and riding Harleys ... gosh, it’s almost like what they say doesn’t matter, at all.
