Why do people do this, enter into or commit to a relationship knowing there's a pre-existing family dynamic they don't like and then expect the other person to change it, instead of not pursuing it? It boggles my mind how many people do this.

Bc dating is very difficult the older you get and when you finally meet someone you want it to work. Kinda similar to how people take a job they’re on the fence about…they’ve been interviewing for months and finally get something and grab it
@G360LIVE
@G360LIVE Жыл бұрын
@@Times397 The problem with that line of thinking is that when you settle for someone, you're placing a stop on any chance that the person you really want will come into your life. So, just keep your options open. I mean, your analogy is pretty much a false analogy, because you need work to make money to buy food and survive, so just grabbing a job that pays something is understandable. But you don't need a boyfriend or girlfriend. You don't have to settle for someone who isn't going to give you what you want in a relationship, and you certainly don't need to stress yourself out over trying to change someone.

This is definitely a valid call in sure, but I’m finding the calls lately are people who want to know what to do with their relationship and marriage before they tackle the money concerns and their overall future. Way to go Dave! Love all your episodes and respect your no filter advice.

Relationship reconciliation 101: The failure in almost all marriages are communications and compromise. Period. Being able to agree upon and execute the plan that works for BOTH of you is entirely the key. Maybe some things might not go 100% your way, and that's fine. To that end, at some point... things won't go 100% their way either. That's the healthy balance of life that makes this all work. It's absurdly tough to stare in the face of a deal breaking situation and have your brain tell your heart it's over. Your heart will shout as loud as it possibly can to avoid hearing that.

Since when is Virginia in North Carolina? Aside from that, if you can't deal with his family before the marriage, it doesn't get better afterwards. People need to realize that their partner is on their best behavior during courtship. If your values don't align, bounce while it's still simple.

So, gone are the days when several generations of people lived together in the same home. We don't care for our elderly, we kick them to the curb, we don't want them in our lives. Might not be the case, here, but the topic made me think about this. Where is the respect, honor, and care for our beloved parents, who nurtured us when we were young? Should we not honor and care for them when they are aged?

It is incredible how we women are just conditioned to not even feel our anger and accept all kinds of bullshit, not being able to even know and feel what our needs are.

What kind of woman “says” she falls in love with a child co-dependent. That’s what John needs to be talking about. Something is wrong (desperate) with a chick who is blind to his being stupid weak. 🤦‍♀️ 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

It sounds more like she just wants to be with him for financial security and he is seeing right through it. He's willing to get used and provide for his parents but not for you. Dude also went through a divorce.
