Can confirm. We have 2 acres and sheep and chickens. We have never grown enough vegetables or fruit to live off of. We spent every evening this week butchering and packaging one of our sheep. It's bloody, tiring and dirty. There is chicken poop all over our front porch because the chickens like cat food. Our homegrown eggs cost more in time and feed than buying the expensive ones from the store, and people expect us to hand them out free by the dozen. Been here 10 years and the concrete jungle with a grocery store across the street sounds so heavenly lol. I would just miss my privacy 😂
@diggernash1

@mycupoverflows7811 2 acres is not enough for that. I grew up helping farm a 5 acre vegetable garden; with mules and later ponies. It was work every day; about 4 hours in the garden and 2 hours with the animals. Then an unknown number of hours fixing stuff. Sometimes it was zero and we went fishing(for fish to eat the evening) and sometimes my grandad was still working on something after dark. He was also a commercial chicken farmer, so that equipment was a lot of that time. He took one vacation in the 10 years that I remember the chicken farming. His brother watched the farm when we went to Washington DC. Other than that he was only gone from home for one night at a time. My first memory of farm life was laughing and chasing chickens who were flopping after having their heads chopped off. I was around 3 or 4 years old and distinctly remember blood on my arms and face and my great grandmother laughing(which I later learned rarely happened after her husband died). I feel so lucky to have grown up with this perspective. I'm getting ready to go back to the farm, but I have no illusions as to what that means...lol

@diggernash1 honestly we are living here and doing this for pur 6 homeschooled children to grow up like this. Bare feet in the pasture, chasing chickens, watching kittens get born, incubating chick and duck eggs and raising/selling the birds, etc. It has been an experience, both good and bad. My husband works a full time job making 6 figures so our version of "homesteading " is definitely a side hobby.

@@mycupoverflows7811 Y'all have it figured out. I wouldn't change a minute of my time on the farm. It was hard, rewarding work that taught responsibility from the time I could walk. Having animals that were my responsibility to feed and then slaughter to feed family members taught me that you could care for animals and complete their purpose without guilt. Running in the woods, bringing squirrels home for supper alone at 8 years old made me feel like I was contributing. My grandmother always took them with a smile after I skinned them. It was life and then I got sidetracked with a profession; now I'm ready to just go home and get as far away from civilization as possible for my last 30 years or so.

Me and two buddies went to see Black Label Society at a little club downtown Denver. Parking around the venue was quite limited and rather than pay the 8 bucks to park in a neighboring business’s parking lot, I parked my car at the Wendy’s a block away and went to the show. Came out a few hours later to find my car was gone. Had to get a cab to go down to some dingy tow company lot at 1 in the morning and pay $300 for my car. After 8am the next day, the price would’ve jumped to $500. Stupid tax of $300, plus cab fare, plus my wasted time when here I could’ve gotten by for only 8 dollars had I not been so stupid and cheap. Most expensive metal concert for me ever.

Well, making the promise to do something that you can't legally do doesn't absolve you of having made the promise and not following through on it. I don't care what the justification is for why something doesn't happen. Making a promise means you are guaranteeing it will happen. Any politician left right or sensor should absolutely be held accountable for things they guarantee to happen that don't happen. Not excuse because of whatever. So if you couldn't have guaranteed delivery on it, then you shouldn't have promised it. We all know it was a vote buying tactic, plain and simple.

I used to pay these companies who claimed to be song pluggers with lots of connections to pitch your music to artists. They charged per song and per pitch. A lot of artists and labels don’t accept unsolicited music submissions so it’s so hard to get your work heard without connections. I spent a couple of hundred bucks before I said enough. He had NEVER had a job and that didn't sound like something he wanted to do so he went with Plan B which was to get rid of his mom and dad and live on their life insurance. It took about a week or two for cops to figure the entire thing out and arrest him so his plan to live high on the hog on his parent's life insurance did not come to fruition; however, he didn't have to get a job because the State of Tennessee will be housing him for the rest of his miserable life.

There are many ways to get a Computer Science degree pretty cheap, and if you're making 50k, you're being bamboozled. Everyone i know in IT started at least 70k with nothing more special than an associates or bachelors, maybe a certificate.

IT you only need certs, not degrees. Cyber security should pay quite a bit depending on what level… but much more than help desk. My husband makes $55k plus overtime for IT help desk in the Midwest. Even process improvement can make 80k… cyber security can make 6 figures. Security + is a cert… most of IT is cert based not education based really. There’s no need to go to school for it.

I paid stupid tax by forming an unhelpful relationship when I was very vulnerable (having been widowed). Fortunately I was about to start a temporary job for something to do (having retired), but I increased my hours and stayed for several years in order to fund this situation. I kept the job for a couple of years after the person left my life, and overall I managed to save 75% of my wages. So I ended up better off, but had to work for it!

When you buy expensive toys, you get expensive repair bills in your future. I know. I once owned and flew my own airplane 45 years ago. $🔥$🔥$🔥$🔥$🔥Then sudden clarity happened! Talked to my electrican son last night about my 15 year old twin grand daughters who are straight A students. No way are they going to college to be indoctrinated by activists. One is going into the Electrican's Union apprentice program which school my son teaches at nights. The other can go to a trade school of her choice but no college period. Colleges are no longer a gateways to success but are financial cliffs these days. The stupid ends with me!

I disagree, I got two college degrees and am making over 100K yearly, and couldn't do the job that I do if I didn't have a degree. Have you ever thought that maybe your granddaughters SHOULD go to college if they want to work in a profession that requires it, rather than forcing them to go into some trade they may. hate? Guess what, my loans have also been paid off long ago, I got a decent job after my 15K two year degree and paid in cash to continue on to finish my four year degree! College is not always a waste of money, as long as they go for a useful degree like nursing, engineering, accounting, PA school etc.

Stupid tax: My job demanded I get a personal credit card to pay for required trips. I explained I don’t use cards. They insisted or they’d find someone who would. They paid me back, with receipts. But now I had this card and I overspent it by $500. I had a $3000 limit, and I used it to buy tickets to Disneyland and sports and dates. That was 2018. I finally paid it off in 2021, after the card was deactivated by the bank. My next job wanted the same thing, and I told them no and they got me a company credit card. And I never used it. Because there wasn’t a need.

My best stupid tax: spring 2019 I thought it'd be a good idea to buy a mid cost "beater" car to save miles on my nicer car. Paid $4500 out the door cash for a '06 Impala with 115k on it. Immediately started having issues. I sunk a good grand into, and it could've taken another two grand to bring it back to good with all the leaks and cooling issues, electrical issues, transmission issues. Couldn't sell it after two weeks by private party, for 3k, so I traded it in with the nicer car I had to get a new nice car. I got $1750 for it. Lesson learned. Those three months my bank account was going backwards, after that pos was gone it was like magic, I had money again.

Theres only a couple of things i can think of. I purchased a camera lens that was pretty expensive. Then a couple months later i found a really good deal on a way better lens and bought that one as well. Rendering the previously new $500 lens usless. I have a personal policy that if i don't use it in a year, i get rid of it. I sell it or dump it. It makes me really think about my purchases. Because throwing away an expensive item is painful. Ive had to make a few exceptions to this rule. I like working on houses so i have a lot if tools for that. And i don't use all of them every year because some of them are specialized. But i modified the rule to include a "how likely am i to ever use this again" clause. But only for tools.

My dad still believes it was an excellent deal, but I’ll only be able to sell and make any kind of profit, much less reimburse the cost of materials spent on repairs, much less pay for the time spent doing the repairs to make it worth selling. Take it from me, a good inspector is worth their weight in gold -ESPECIALLY when purchasing from family, no matter how honest the family is. Their ignorance about the extent of work needing done is just as painful financially as intentional deceit. 😅
